L.A. native here, best thing about L.A. is there is SO MUCH CULTURE and no matter what you are into or what you look like or where you are from you will find what you need here. It is so much more than the Hollywood/entertainment place. Diversity, food, tech, automotive, health/fitness, did I say food?, surf beach, hiking, sports. It's close to the Caribbean and central America. Don't let the cost of living discourage you but he's right about the entertainment field it is competitive and I meet so many people at my church who come here for one thing and end up finding a completely different more fulfilling calling in something totally unexpected. No place like southern California (dude). 😎

Are you in Vienna? It's supposedly one of the best cities in the world to live in. Obviously not a lot of cool stuff coming out of there or Austria but you also have to factor in how large LA is and how many people live there. For every celebrity or famous KZbinr, there are likely thousands more struggling, barely being able to afford to live, aspiring to also make a living from those things. It also attracts a lot of rich kids who can live a lavish lifestyle despite not having a job. Of course people like to see how rich and cool people live, so they may get popular on KZbin and social media, but an average person can't live a life like that and attract followers. Also, in cities where less is happening, it is easier to stand out locally. You likely have a better chance taking off in Vienna as a KZbinr or musician than in LA where there are far more people to compete with.

If you were to take out the ghettos and gang-on-gang violence, then the crime rate wouldn't look very bad at all. This is the same for basically all major U.S. cities. Just don't go to drug and gang infested ghettos with your expensive car at night by yourself, and hang out with the right people and you will be fine.

I’m originally from Tennessee, I moved to La in late December 2017. I go to a high school and it’s my senior year here. The only pros LA have is it’s beaches, foods, and scenery. Yes minimum wage here is nice compared to the south, starting from 10$ but with that wage come higher prices. Like when I first got here my mom was paying 2000$+ for a 2 bedroom apartment.Theres lots of homeless people also and the air is wack, AND PEOPLE IN LA CANNOT DRIVE. I’ve almost lost my life twice by some idiot while trying to cross the street. Now let’s talk Highschool, Most schools in the east are what I like to call “inside schools” I call them that because for most of the school day you are inside the school. And the schools out here are outside schools, NO I don’t mean you go out with your class and sit on the grass and read and do work. I’m mean that when it’s lunch you are out side and you can pretty much eat where you want ( CLEVELAND HIGHSCHOOL) and during breaks you are outside chilling with friends. My hobbies out here now is playing my ps4, chilling at the mall w friends on fridays and Saturday’s, also going to party’s. That’s pretty much, all I can say is, I miss my home, I miss my friends, La suck BALLS, me and my family are moving back when I graduate and yeah that’s it.

I want to move to Los Angeles but it's not to be in movies or anything. I want to get in radio and media but I mostly want to me there because of the weather and better job opportunity. I live in Detroit been here all my life and hate the winter, don't like the cold at all and it last forever. The only good jobs your going to find without a college degree is working in car factory making, building cars for like Ford,GM, and Cyrsler. It's not easy getting into those jobs because you have to know someone that know someone that work there. And I don't want to be building cars for the rest of my, that's hard labor and you still don't get paid that much. Detroit not cheap either you want a good apartment you paiding between 650 to 800. Downtown you paiding 800 between 1000. Unless you live in the hood, but those apartments can be expensive but not worth it because people don't take care of the buildings. And finding low income apartments our hard because people moving in them and don't never moved out. Not much to do here, you mostly got to go way up to do things or go downtown, they don't have no malls in Detroit or even a Walmart. You got to go way out for those things. So I know if I can make here in Detroit I can make it out there, I'm determine to make it out there because I know I don't want to live in Detroit for the rest of my life. Great advice. I got a car, but I the cost of living is going to be the biggest issue for me living in Los Angeles but I think is going to be worth for me because of the weather, the many things you do out there, hopefully better job opportunity meeting new people and because I never left Detroit. I want to move out there by next year and the plus I have family that lives out there. I just got to meet them😂. But anybody that reads this. Please wish me luck.😀

I did it 16 years ago when I left my hometown of Houston to LA, it was one of the best decisions of my life and LA is like none other in the United States. LA is a lot of fun and interesting but just know that it is very expensive and if you don’t have family or close friends there it can also get very lonely at times. In Ontario, Canada-it sounds about the same (minus the weather)...for a 1 bedroom/bachelor apartment, you'd pay 1600-2100$/month (with 1st and last months rent up front)-and that is for a regular, run of the mill place that isn't worth the price...if you'd pay 2100-3000$, you'd get a much nicer place, but who can afford that? There are tonnes of homeless people, drugs etc here as well, so it makes me think this is not just in Cali, it's everywhere! Also, it is very competitive here finding a job too, but the difference is these jobs are usually regular joe jobs (restaurant, office, construction etc.), in no way are there any opportunities in such creative fields as Calif offers...So really when you think about it, it may not be too bad for some people; its just the way the world is now.

Its summer all year round. I lived there 20 years now I am in seattle since 2011 and I have noticed a lot of Californians are moving to seattle. The traffic here is becoming worse too cause of people moving from ca and other states. We also have the great homeless population here too.

Thumbs up! Really precise tips, thanks! I am from Brazil and I was researching cities in USA to move. I like the idea of LA but I am worried about the car thing. I did not expect that public transportation would be bad there . What is wrong with it? Doesnt have much of it? I dont think is accessible to have a car for someone out of the country ;(
@sayjaibao011886 жыл бұрын
Ka frames LA's public transit is actually getting better. The newest rail lines from downtown LA to Santa Monica Beach is very popular so is the Redline subway. Many ppl learn to navigate the city without a car.

@isaacb49556 жыл бұрын
Totally! If you’re okay getting hit! 😉 I got hit by a car when I was riding my bike 🚲 going the right way on the right side next to the curb and on a smaller side street they hit and ran and left me on the road! Was in the emergency for 3 days straight. Not fully recovered yet(2008) People here don’t obey the law-they run red lights all the time. My rule is ALWAYS pause at the green light change and look both ways and NEVER go when the light changes to green. After my accident and when I was physically able to ride again; I stuck to the river bed trails to avoid all the car and semi truck 🚛 traffic but then I had to deal with the transient or crack heads along the under passes of the riverbeds. Ride safe friend!

here in my country it is really fun to be in here but L.A has been my dream city since I was 10. I always search it on google maps, view pictures of beautiful houses, beaches and such in L.A, I kid you not, in every prayers of mine, I'd make sure that visiting L.A soon is included. I don't really know why, maybe because famous youtubers and singers lives in there and I've been dying to see them. But I'm afraid of judgment because everybody told me that people in L.A are judgmental.

Hey! Do you have any thoughts about the transition from New York to LA? Any marked differences? Thanks!
@FreshPepper6 жыл бұрын
Hey, I've spent a good amount of time in NY as well. LA is cheaper than NY, but not by much. The apartments here are definitely bigger, there's a lot more opportunities for actors, and great networking opportunities for anyone in the entertainment industry in general. The biggest difference for me is the lack of public transportation. In NYC, the subway is probably the best and fastest way to move around, but in LA, you pretty much need to drive or take an uber. Taking the bus or subway in LA is a slow painful process, you have to take two buses, walk, and maybe even a short uber just to get to your destination. Finally, you have to plan your day carefully out here since most of it could be spent being stuck in traffic. It takes an average of 30mins to get from one place to another and maybe 4x longer in rush hour traffic. Hope this helps

Its not dangerous Baldwin Hills is the black area but you got a mall, movie theater and leimert park where they have the African and Black festivities right in the middle of the so called hood. South LA was bad in the early 2000's and 90's its mostly gentrified now.

I went in 1995 and it was a hell hole. I was threatened with a knife in a liquor store because I was in the wrong neighbourhood ( the look on the owners face when we walked in was ‘wtf are you two doing here’?) . The city itself (not the canyons obviously) was as flat as your hand, crawling with cars, soulless and ugly. We moved on to Santa Barbara which was absolutely beautiful and up the coast to San Francisco was beyond gorgeous (though 20 plus years later I know prices there have rocketed and they have a terrible homeless problem). In short LA was the biggest letdown of any place I have ever been

I am an actor, or I try, and an artist. I am from Spain and thinking about moving to L.A. and I have a question. How is the politics in the art and acting business in Hollywood or L.A. in general? Because here in Spain is literally EVERYWHERE and that is the reason I want to move. It is EVERYWHERE since the schools of acting, the amateur theatre groups to the professional and great productions. EVERYWHERE and the productions and producers suck. I would thank you a lot if you answered.
