My husband and I had two iguanas many years ago- we bought a BIG book on iguanas and the first thing is said was NOT to get an iguana - BUT if you did, the book would tell you all about them. Let me just say that advice was true. I will expand that to wild animals, or ANY kind of animal that totally depends on you - especially if it includes temperature and light being correct just for them to LIVE... We spent SO much money on their environment and we spent a lot of time on TAMING them, which can only be done with a lot of handling. Both we learned to "housebreak" by letting them "go" in the shower once a day....Finding an iguana sitter to just get away for a couple of days was next to impossible, so we were trapped at home. This is a HUGE commitment, and it isn't all fun and games. One of our iguanas was a female and she had to nest.. Her symptoms got so bad, we decided to go with surgery - but finding a VET who could do the surgery was HARD... We finally did, but had to drive several hours.. My advice: Enjoy cats and/or dogs and don't tie yourself down and spend all of your energy on wild animals, unless you view that is your purpose in life...

As much as I love Green Iguanas (and Rocket is a very handsome boy, btw), I really can't recommend them; I've seen too many inexperienced owners fall in love with that cute little lizard, and not understand that they were signing up to be the owner of a 6 foot long dragon who may or may not ever tame down enough to be handleable. Even in my case, I was never able to tame down my second iguana (my first was an incredibly tame and friendly boy), and eventually had to surrender him to an ig rescuer who had the time and ability to work with him.

@@TylerGreenMusic Blue Iguanas aren't a separate species; they're a color variation of Green Iguanas. Best bet is to just work regularly with your animal and with time you may form a bond.

I had a female green iguana since she was a baby bought her when she was about 2 months old til she was 6 yrs old. She's very docile and friendly because I've always handle her and let my friends handle her. She ended up being about 5 ft long. I had to move from Massachusetts to Washington State and couldn't take her with me so I gave her to one of my brothers friends . Hopefully she's still doing good. They do take a lot of work to care for. Heating lamps and rocks and yearly veterinary visits to make sure they are healthy. Other then that they're a beautiful pet. I miss my Nina(her name)

I went to rescue a bearded dragon and ended up with a 5ft Iguana that was half frozen and required a thaw and enclosure. Your channel helped me so soo much.

I have 2 Veiled Chameleons. Not an easy breed and definitely not social. I'm a 1,68m female and Neptune the male is as long as my forearm. They are big Chameleons. You also need a lot of patience and you must understand the breed. The next reptile I want is an Iguana. Blessings

Take off a closet door and install a screen door. Turn the closet into an enclosure. Cheaper and easier than having to buy a cage they always outgrow.

I had one, and I couldn't touch him while he was in a rut, between the months of May and July. He would want to nape on my arm and BOY did it hurt. But I knew it wasn't a bite, but I had to suck it out until he would let go. I wouldn't ever hurt him at all. He was for the most part TAME and he knew his name. Mug, Mug is what I called him, which eventually turned into Mogie, which I named my dog after that lizard, about 5 years later. I only had the lizard for five years, due to having to move to a dank basement and he couldn't survive. They need the sunlight as well, even to just come through the window. A warm huge cage wasn't enough. They need to see day time. I had him since he as very tiny, and I could have only wished he got as large as your did. He did get really big fast over the five years I had him.

Aww yours is so chill. My two iguanas are about a year and a half now and not this big and chunky. They try to murder me every week when I give them their baths, and keep my arms and wrists looking like I’m a cutter. 😂

Only one reason i wouldnt have an iggy now is that im not as able boddided as i was before so handling him stood up would be an issue. They are so loving though the one we had at home when i was a teen was a tad feisty at times. I have scars from it and he wasnt being vicious he was playing

I had a green iguana the lady that sold it to me told me it was a female and remain mild mannered. She lied to me it was male and grew to over 5 ft and hated me tried to bite me every chance it got. I needed heavy duty gardening gloves just to handle it.

As a baby a 40 to 55 gallon tank is fine … as an adult I recommend something atleast 6’tall 4’ wide & 4’ in depth

I had an iguana the same size as Rocket and his enclosure was a 6ft x 4ft greenhouse inside my lounge. I moved house and he got his own room. 10ft x 6 ft … ideally it’s best to have them where you can see them all the time and they can see you. They need space and lots of it.

Be honest i dont recommend any reptile as a pet. Most people dont have the time, money. energy, or the motivation to "raise" em right. I have two bearded dragons and i stressed all day to make sure their vivarrium is great....that said i love em, i just hate the poop lol

@@Rocket_The_Iguana well I always see male iguana vids none on females. I almost got a male but I changed my mind because of what you spoke about during mating season. Iguana name is ocean she will be 1 this March I got her as a hatchling so I'm wondering is there a difference in having them when there a baby? Also I'm a first timer an I was a bit hesitant due to a lot of research I've done showing that this is an expert level pet but I think I've done well being as though this is my first pet

In my opinion it’s better to raise them from a baby that way they become more comfortable with you. My 1st one was grown and mean he hadn’t been handled properly I raised Rocket from a baby so I was able to put in the work and time to get him as calm as he is… as far as bathing I would start off with a small amount of water and gradually add more in time as they get comfortable… usually they like sitting in the water sometimes they will use the restroom in it… spraying water on them is also good it helps them shed and some will even drink it when you spray which is also good for hydration
