As I get older I find plant food is easier on my gut. Where can I find these? They would be great for road trips, a great alternative to fried fast food (and cheaper). Good vid, thanks, MR.

I love the Lentil stew.😋 The Shortbread cookie isn't as sweet as I like, and a bit dry, but not bad. The Pop Tart is just like store bought. All in all, you'd be happy to eat these during a disaster. Just don't eat these if you're on a diet.😄 Thanks, M.R.👍

@@ModernRefugee We've had the longest cold spell I can remember, in the 24 years we've lived here. Guess it's Global Warming.🤭 We never turn on our heat and it was 43 deg. last night. I slept like a baby under my thin, $5 throw.👍😄

Never knew they had a humanitarian type MREs. I do have a little less than a case left of militaryMREs. They’re probably around nine years old or better. I’ll be finishing them up this spring and summer. I’ll have to try the humanitarian ones I don’t mind veggies. Thanks, MR I learned something new today. Stay safe, my friend.

I have purchased both Humanitarian Rations and Military MREs. The freeze-thaw Freeze-thaw cycle destroys the cellular structure of any food that is wet. Probably still edible but appears mushy.
@subdawg133116 күн бұрын
wow ... thats actually pretty cool a lot different than our MRE s we used to get... These might workout great I have some Military ones that I have broken right down ... awesome video thanks
@jenharvey339716 күн бұрын
This is a really useful comparison, thank you. I tend to find MREs seem better in theory than in practice, but then, I tend to eat them in a motel room after a day of sitting in the car. I suspect they'd taste a lot better outside, heated over a campfire after a day of heavy exercise! I won't spend the large amount of money on MREs again once (if) I finish up the cases I already have, but I may look into the humanitarian ones.

Interesting. Hadn’t considered the humanitarian meals in the past but ever since my family stopped eating pork, vegetarian options are often a safe bet. I’m scanning the Internet now for ingredients list to see if they contain any other unclean ingredients, but I can’t find any… but again vegetarian is likely safe.. We recently were able to acquire five cases of military surplus MREs for free. I recently learned that if you have a Salvation Army distribution center in your area, they likely have a basement full of MREs(don’t ask me how I know ;))

I got a couple of cases for shitz and gigglez. I consider it barter level quality. Keep them for trade, not for your family etc.

Bought a box of those from “Army Navy surplus” I think. Just keep them in the basement with the freeze dried stuff. Think I should start to use them up soon and rotate them out.

I would think that they are vegetarian, because of some religious dietary. Some religions won't eat any meat, some won't eat this or that, some require a particular way of dispatching the animal.
@ModernRefugee16 күн бұрын
Yes, that is the reason they are vegetarian from what I have read.
