I first saw this review after I'd played the game (the first being one of my favourites I got the second as quickly as I could) and realised, with some shock, that I hadn't actually killed a single civilian in my playthrough, whereas in the first I killed everything all the time.

***** Considering there's no punctuation (Zero Punctuation! Get it!?), there's several different ways to interpret that line. However, considering he's pouring out Vodka onto the remains of a child going through a sausage maker, "Drink, sausage children" seems a lot more applicable in this context.

Tell me more about my native language. You don't really need punctuation to establish the word relationship, it's done through cases. Drinking sausage children would need literally different words (пейте колбасНЫХ детЕЙ), as it is it can only be understood as "drink the sausage, children." So it's either horribly wrong former variant, or perfectly fine latter, albeit punctuation. And neither of those make much sense anyway, at least latter variant is right.

Once again, "Drink, sausage children" makes more sense in this context and is likely what Yahtzee intended it to be translated as. I think it'd be kinda fun to have a prototype game (or similar) that doesn't pretend that the main character is a hero. One in which there is still the government and such trying to stop you, should you decide to invest in toddler slaughter as your main method of food, but that doesn't try to make you out to be the good guy, just the bad guy that you happen to play

I loved this game, but I do agree at times the Blackwatch would almost be cartoonishly evil if it wasn't so fucking dark. There's an audio log where a soldier shoots a kid not answering questions even after the kid's mom reveals the kid is autistic. There's a mission wherein you go undercover with Blackwatch to escort some scientists and one blackwatch soldier mentions a psych-profile to get in after another makes a joke about infected women. What kind of fucking psych profile are we talking here? The one where it's totally cool to murder kids, but making an off-color sex joke is grounds for discharge? What is this, Full Metal Jacket?

well. they didnt want us to sympathize with them. the story is entertaining enough, and heller is actually quite funny at times. but i never saw heller as anything more than "angry shapeshifting black man." though if you look at his consumption animation, marines and civilians are quickly absorbed while blackwatch and infected are where the gruesom stuff lie.

To be quite honest Alex still shines in my eyes more than Heller. I don't want to play as some bulky military guy, especially trying to kill one of the reasons I liked playing Prototype. Alex was just cooler in my opinion.

He has more personality then Heller, for one thing Alex has a sociopathic disorder when makes it very hard for him to connect or form close relationships with people or to betray his emotions which does make him seem very emotionless, and yet he goes to hell and back in an attempt to save his sister, despite the fact 1) she's afraid of him 2) He goes to great personal risk to do so. Not only that if you've bothered to unlock all the nodes you;d know Alex worked on black light and when he found out that all the scientists on the project were being assassinated, he took a sample of the virus to try and bargain for his life, when that didn't work he smashed the sample in the subway causing the outbreak as he was peppered with bullets. Alex isn't a perfect person and's he;s done a lot of bad shit, but considering the circumstances he STILL saved his sisters he STILL killed Greene and he STILL saved new York from being a radiation infested crater. All Heller ever did was bitch about his wife and daughter, tell Alex he was going to skull fuck him (So hetro) for no real reason and then 'kill' Alex. Even then the ending Prototype 2 is bullshit, its canon from the first game that if you leave a shred of Alex unabsorbed that he's just gonna come back; Heller ripped of..how many pairs of arms and threw then across new york? I rest my fucking case -__-

Dudu Nikolaishvili Alex's story was portrayed better in my opinion. The whole deal where he loses his memories after being killed by Blacklight and has to go around super murder eating people to figure out what they hell is going on is more fun for me than go get revenge of the dude that caused the death of your wife and child among the other thousands of people he chopped in half and then ate.

You know... after finishing prototype 2 and looking at the things Alex said at the end (you should know spoilers are coming now but if it's not obvious enough... SPOILER ALERT) "Welcome on top of the food chain", "I taught you well" and also how the whole end fight is staged... I have the feeling that Alex is wanting Heller to win and consume him. Because he can't be the hero humanity needs. (He lost faith in humans through his 1 year "finding reason of life"-esc trip portrayed in the p2 comics, probably Mercers sociopathic attributes wiped off on him...) So... he plays the stereotypic bad guy because he wants to create someone who could take this place.

Another part of it could be that Alex was no longer entirely himself. Alex, you see, was not really Alex: The virus consumed him and mimicked his appearance, and his revelation at this likely lead to him reverting to the virus's original design. I best equate it to John Carpenters "The Thing", in which it now desires to eliminate any threat to it and therefore seeks to become dominant. By "Upgrading" humanity to its level, it would ensure they are subject to his will, and protect him from that. The original Alex may very well still have been in him, but it was likely drowned out by the survival instincts of the virus forcing him to do what he would never have done in his right mind.

Sam Goodwin no it was alex just having lost his memory from the dying bit heller was still himself after being infected because he didnt have his brains blown out and if alex were just the virus itself he would have been part of the viral hive mind and foaming at the mouth like the rest of the city at the end though its hard to say what he was thinking if the game could have done well wed have likely got our answers in the thirs game but it likely boils down to this alex wanted to spread the virus heller was stronger than him so alex loses the virus gets a stronger host to survive through and heller goes about flinging more meat stalks around the word with those fucking awesome tendrils (one of the coolest weapons in gaming imo) and he wins in both fronts why did he seem to be evil? i dont know that he was but if the virus got out and more evolved were made genteks bioweapons would just be appetizers maybe he wanted the whole world to be evolved or just enough to make a police force against them but again one can only speculate unless someone can make a prototype 3 kickstarter and get the devs on board hell i know id support that

vVAstrAVv Alright, firstly, 'Alex' was infected with the Blacklight virus not the Redlight virus, there weren't any Evolved from p2 running around New York. And to prove that you don't play as Alex Mercer... 'Agent Cross' says, Alex, your not human. Secondly in one of the final cut scenes of p1 he narrates the final hours of Alex Mercer in the third person, saying Alex Mercer died, and the virus got into his corpse and it became the thing you play as. And finally, he freakin' says, "I am the Blacklight virus." (Not the greatest string of evidence, but it gets the point across)

4:18 I TOTALLY agree with that, it's what i was thinking when playing the game. The Blackwatch guys are being assholes just to be assholes. The only thing they are missing is a generic mwahahahahahaha evil laugh. Yes, it is impossible to look at the protagonists as any better than the people they're trying to defeat, the citizens are just collateral lambs to the slaughter to feed the protagonist so he can kill blackwatch for making the citizens lambs to the slaughter.... The story in this game is well known for not being it's strong point. The missions get pretty damn repetitive, and those damn chopper pilots must be drunk to keep crashing and dropping stuff all over the city for me to collect. Oh well who cares, I JUST RIPPED THAT GUY IN HALF AND JUMPED TWENTY STORIES HIGH! WEEEEE! :D

"Quadrilogy" is the nonsensical result of that damned 'Alien' box-set. It's "tetralogy"! The "quad" prefix is Latin, so it's like saying "one, two, trois, four" in casual conversation. Grumble grumble. I'm not usually so pedantic, but this is just one thing that sucks. :-/
