you cant use the Ice cream maker with the mini

I bought a mini about 5 years ago. It was the first stand mixer I've ever had and it is just perfect for our 2 person empty nest household. I can match a batch of bread dough large enough for 2 loaves, and full recipes of everything we need.

I have owned the mini for a year. There are three in my family and I can say that the mini is perfect. I can make 5 dozen cookies at one time or two cakes which is enough for us and even for guests. I can only see getting bigger if you have a large family or want to make double everything. I do not make bread with the mixer, I have a bread machine but it would easily make two small loaves or a regular loaf. The other thing is that the bigger ones are all over 20# in weight and toting it around in the kitchen is cumbersome. The mini, with the advantages mentioned, in my opinion is a better choice overall. When all is said and done, Consider how much at one time of something you will want to make. Like I mentioned, we make bread and have two machines- a 2 lb machine and a 1 pound machine. We use the 1 lb more often as it makes about 8 slices or like half a loaf. We eat and it is gone. The two pound machine makes big loaves but it gets old before we eat it all so it is for company's sake. Same with this mixer. How much at once do you regularly need?

The reason to buy the mini is that not everyone has a huge house, large kitchen to store the larger mixer. The mini is small enough for my small nyc apartment and still able to fit inside the base cabinets. Additionally, it is plenty enough to make a large batch of cookies for instance.

that is the same reason made me bought my Artisan mini for my apartment.

Thanks! This the best, most in-detail review I found. I couldn’t find the bowl dimensions anywhere else. I didn’t see the overall exact dimensions of the units anywhere else either and that’s important to me because of a lack of counter space. Excellent job!

I like my artisan regular mixer. I have also the bowl lift, they both are great.

Do you notice a big difference in power or overall performance between the Artisan and bowl lift?
@davem12128 ай бұрын
@@PrudentReviews That was my question too. Also can it make 1 or 2 loaves of bread. With no struggle ?

I have an ultra power which is really just a 300 watt version of the classic as it utilizes the same body. You can adjust the Tilthead mixer to change the height of the beater. The flex edge beater is nice but in certain batters I prefer the standard beater as a flex beater tents to Splash more thinner batters. My hand is large enough where I can actually hold the bowl by its base and have a fairly firm grip on it. Another thing about the mini is I don't think the ice cream maker attachment is compatible with it so I would go with the classic if you want to make ice cream.

You can order additional bowls for the classic. The additional stainless steel bowls they sell for the classic with the exception of the three-quarter Bowl will come with a handle and we'll have a polished finish. I don't think KitchenAid sells the 4.5 quart bowl without the handle separately.

I had a classic for 6 years until I stripped the worm gear. I fixed it and then sold it to upgrade to the Artisan model. Note that the nylon worm gear is not an issue at all and you should see it more as a fuse that is gonna blow off if you’re putting too much stress on the system. It cost me less than $10 to replace it and trust me I prefer that than having to replace a blown motor. Now thinking of downgrading to the mini since I will get a fixed head mixer for pizza and bread though mostly because the kitchen aid sucks at that kind of work….. The mini would take less space on the kitchen bench and will be sufficient for all other pastry duties

I bought my 4.5. Qt Deluxe Model with a 300 Watt Motor for almost half the price of the 5 Qt Artisan Model. Mines was $229 at the time. I would like the 5 Qt Artisan model but weirdly somehow, I’m starting not to understand the hype about it anymore. I think the 4.5. Qt & 3.5 Qt models are just as good as the Artisan but unless you’re doing breads, you might want to opt for either a KitchenAid Bowl Lift model or get the Ankarsrum or Bosch.

Is maintenance of the mini supposed to be the same? (i.e. re-greasing every couple of years) I've found multiple videos of KitchenAid teardowns but none of the mini. I'm wondering how different the hardware is and if it's harder to maintain.
@Jalenie9 ай бұрын
It's built completely different learned from my current need to take it apart. I attempted to put on a part from Mr Mixer and found out it is not compatible and then dropped the screw into the housing which is not hollow like the regular models. So far I am having no luck and no one has put out a how to guide

I like your reviews, very thorough! .. I just saw a review on the new Kirkland 5 ply stainless cookware with copper core and wondering if you've tried it. It looks like they're trying to step on All Clad's toes at a fraction of the price for around $200 for a 10 piece set. I didn't see a video on it from you, if you've covered it, can you link me?

Had to downvote, did not go over the many accessories and whether the mini has most of them available, which is more important than colors to many people.

I am about to buy Ankarsrum but give away a cheaper model (like the mini) to my girlfriends villa abroad... that she is about to sell and will replace with a beach house or apartment in her country, when we moved togheter. So she can go on vaccations when she live here... I don't see any reason to not select a mini if we are there to visit her relatives in the same city or on vaccation. We won't use it everyday. It's not about money or what is feasible, it's about what is reasonable. Except that it's in my case a gift (or at least 50 % gifted) and talking about younger people like teenagers or students, it's no reason to have an Ankarsrum. Except if you are about to be a chef, having a better economy despite being young or being real dedicated about it. And obviously there are plenty of more usecases, so what is the best doesn't mean best for anybody.
