CAUTION........There are small components on the motherboard near where the hdmi socket is mounted, particularly on the underside....These can be loosed, fall off or became damaged by hot air, when removing or replacing the socket..☹ Best cover all the relevant components in that area with Alfoil or some form of heat shielding.😀.
@Mattia_224 жыл бұрын
If you want a 100% sure fix, Just avoid using heat gun to solder the new HDMI port. It's NOT necessary at all, and there Is a huge chance to damage It since the pins are literally sitting on plastic!

Thanks for the video, I was able to successfully change the HDMI port. The only problem now is that the console no longer recognizes a controller. This was not the case before. I've tried 20 different cables and different controllers and even a new one from Amazon, nothing helps. Funnily enough, I can connect the controller via USB cable when the PS4 is in security mode. Repairing the database etc. didn't solve the problem either, when I try to reinstall the firmware via USB, I get the error message "SU-41283-8". Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

can you only do it with a soldering iron?

tecnically yes, practically no cuz trying to use a solid core solder without flux will result in a practically useless joint. The solder will not cling to the surfaces and the oxides will break away causing the joint to fail.

Major respect for pulling that repair off with an FX888D. Heat transfer on them is bloody awful, upgrading to a FX951 was the best thing I ever did. Nice strategy using hot air under the board. That'll be useful for clearing the solder holes when replacing the harddrive connector on the PS2 motherboard, clearing the solder holes on them is a nightmare.

Use hot air along with your iron when soldering the legs down on the back of the board and it'll flow right on through the ground leg holes so you won't have to solder then from the top. Alot cleaner job that way.

i am trying to fix the hdmi port on an old samsung lcd tv so i cleaned the old solder joints with a solder wick the pins are clean however when i try to solder it back i always end up with a bridge no matter what and i am using a big iron tip just like yours and the placement of the hdmi makes it difficult to get the job done correctly compared to the ps4

thank you all for the advices, I've already tried all of these things but i think a smaller tip is more suitable for this kind of work since the placement of the hdmi makes it difficult to achieve such fine work, I've seen people trying to fix their tv's hdmi using temporary solutions like heat gun or puting the board in the oven but since i am using this old tv parts for practicing i haven't tried any of these methods and wanted to work on my soldering skills instead

Tried it about 20 times. Never worked. Either legs get stuck to the solder iron's tip and get bent or rip off. After this of cours about half of the legs are shorted, while the other half isn't soldered at all. Trying to shave of some of the solder from wher it is too much never works, because the hot solder iron just slips through the liquid solder, without pulling any solder with. Everytime. Never better.

Just another %*%$& example of how electronics are designed to fail, and/or to for people to get professional repairs. $150 or more where I am to have this serviced professionally -- and look at the amount of work it takes just to get to the board, all to fix a POS $5 part that, when it fails, bricks your PS4 or forces you to pay for fixing it. I solved my HDMI issues by throwing my PS4 against the wall, and going back to PC gaming. &$*# Sony -- I won't buy a PS 5 to save my life.
