If you have masking tape (or scotch something not too sticky but enough to hold) you can use it to hold the touch pad while you do this

How do the actual replacement clear buttons and analogs feel? I've been thinking about doing this to a spare controller, but I'm curious about how it'll feel after. And also, how much does this affect the battery life? Since it's being powered from the original battery, and the DualShock 4 is already pretty weak as far as battery life.. have you noticed a major decrease in battery life?

Just installed one and I have to say that the soldier points on the joystick leds rub against the stick covers. It makes analog rotation not smooth as the original.

If youre still having this issue put a small ball in the hole underneath the analog sticks as it raises it higher and make it moves smoother and easier

Not a problem with the kit, that’s a problem with the controller itself. Maybe check ur ribbon cables, make sure the reset button isn’t being pushed by the back shell, make sure ur USB port is good.

The black support for the battery also comes out and there is a clip for the ribbon. Taking the ribbon out like that can damage it. Just so you know :)

I am almost done installing on the new one. Brand new from black friday deal. Having some trouble getting everything moved around so it will close...but will let you know as soon as it works/or not

So i finished up the controller. It is a very tight fit in the new ones....you will have to screw them shut to get it to close fully (it will not click together by hand initially). My biggest criticism is that there needs to be a better way to fasten down the joystick leds...they move around under the joysticks and so you can feel and hear them moving. They do not get in the way enough to effect the joystick use (without trying you will just push past the wires and such). But nonetheless it can be annoying. Still. It works. It is functional and i tested all the buttons and the joystick zones... all inputs are functioning at full capacity. Hope this helps you decide if you want it. :)

@@teenermeener971 yes. The first one i did was a little more difficult though because of the positioning of the sensor... But i did a second one since for my friend. And i found the best placement was right underneath and tight to the reset button. If the plastic reset button gets in your way just pull it out of the controller. You can always open the controller to reset it if you ever have to. But they give you extra adhesive so you can try it in different spots if you first attempt doesnt work consistently

After installing my controller continues to say it has no power even after I left it charging it rest mode over night. But it I leave it plugged in it works fine. Really frustrating after having to take it apart twice and put back together. Any suggestions?

@@nep639 with the PS4 controllers there are two models a new one and an old one I was trying the kit with a new controller and after it didn't work I did some research and it said it is recommended to use an old controller so I switched the batteries over from a new to an old remote 😅

Depends on the ones you get, there's 2 different Models of this. The on in the video with the backlit effect is roughly 40 USD. You can get the same Kit but with Transparent Buttons and Analog Sticks for about 30 USD.

I honestly would not recommend this product. it looks cool yes and the detail is Very nice and the light is pretty strong. But unfortunately when i installed. ( followed the video and directons on the paper i got by the letter) it almost destroyed my controller. My R1 stopped working entirly and my Left thumbstick was acting as my L2 and my L2 was not working at all.

I bought this kit everything will work properly except that it won’t sense your finger. While your controller is open and you’re touching the sensor the light will change and everything. Once you close it and try to change colors , turn off or turn on. The sensor will NOT detect your finger. I pressed really hard and held my finger pressed on the back with extreme force and it would not do anything. The light will stay on and you will have to re-open the controller to touch the sensor and turn it off. DO NOT BUY THIS. This guys is getting paid to promote their product. You can hear him say in the beginning of the video they sent him this kit.
