In turns out that both men and women are capable of loyalty, though each group tends to remain loyal to different things. Whereas men are typically loyal to their duties, women are typically loyal to their feelings. It is what it is. Accepting this reality can help men and women have more harmonious and rewarding relationships with each other. Each other holds out a growth opportunity for the other, which I will discuss at the end of the episode.

Bro this is so true. I often talk about how the most tricky thing with women is understanding their arousal triggers. And because arousal for women can be very very circumstantial, her desire for you can be riding on a thin line that could break from the tiniest things. Her desire for you is often based on a feeling, and if that changes, so does her arousal. Men need to understand this and I didn't understand this until around 30 years old.

The thing is, a woman’s attraction to a man is massively based on his value. A man can significantly affect this by simply working on HIMSELF. I.e going to the gym and maintaining or improving physique, focusing on his career and ambitions, being charismatic, maintaining various friendships/social circles, being passionate about productive hobbies. Things that are GOOD for you as a man, are also good for your attractiveness to women, and hence their loyalty to you. Be kind to yourself, and never let those things slide. @@1976brenden I made no comment on you my dude, I was talking about men in general. I don’t disagree what you said about social media, but you seem to be ignoring a major part of PsycHacks’ video - womens loyalty to their partner being tied to their attraction to their partner. Attraction being tied to a man’s value, and a man’s value being mostly within his control. Younger men may be in a worse spot for committed relationships, but they are in the absolute best spot for self improvement, which is why they should spend their 20’s mostly working on themselves and their own goals and ambitions, and only go for casual or short term relationships. When you said that the burden of keeping women’s affection/attention being on a man, I wasn’t disagreeing with you, but I was saying, that a man can successfully do this by continuing to work on himself, his own development, his own ambitions, his own physique, his own relationships with friends/social circles OUTSIDE of his own committed relationship. These are things that are GOOD FOR MEN in general and we should all strive to keep doing for ourselves. The added bonus is that as a side effect, it keeps us attractive to women, and hence will keep our spouse/committed partner attracted and therefore loyal. Yes, it takes effort, and the problems start to arise when men become complacent, and start to slack at these things. Ultimately as men we can grumble and moan about how the world IS and how it’s different from how we’d like it to be, OR, we can simply accept it, and do the best we can with that knowledge, which is what PsycHacks is trying to help men with in general. In this case, the key to getting loyalty from women in long term relationships being, working on maintaining or increasing your own value as a man.

To encourage my action, she tried her best to make me unhappy by abusing me. I was perplexed about her unhappiness because I was a loyal dutiful traditional husband who paid for everything though she had a good job and still did half of the domestic duties. I did not take her demand for divorce seriously. I was thinking of our kids and my wedding oath of eternal loyalty. For next 7 years, she kept on asking me to file for divorce and she encouraged me to do that by dialing up her abuse to higher and higher degree. To my regret, I still did not divorce her. You touched upon the backbone of what many feminists call "the patriarchy". Civilization and systems of law are based on this masculine version of loyalty (and respect). A legal/state system is not compatible with the feminine form of loyalty. This more chaotic feminine form of social relationships can coexist within the protective structure of civilization, but it can't be incorporated into the structure itself. "Smash the patriarchy" is nothing more than the desire to destroy that structure of society itself. It is the "duty" of the masculine side of humanity to resist and contain this chaos, and it's a failure of duty to allow such chaos to infiltrate the protective structure. This type of breakdown of structure is currently happening in the West, due to a failure of duty. This doesn't mean these chaotic "feelings" should be demonized. Feelings give life meaning, and without them, there is no value worth protecting. The chaotic feelings necessarily should push back against overly rigid structures. Both are needed in balance. The protection that duty and respect provides has no purpose without the meaning that chaotic emotions bring about.

ps... then have healthy, consist boundaries. Women are all over the place following their ever changing feelings. Be like a surfer or a skater. Pick your line and stick to it. I watched vids where they use the terminology 'containment.' Men need to provide containment. Creating a safe, understanding, consistant, and kind situation brings out the best in a good woman. And that in turn brings out the best in the man. Basically don't be all over the place cause then both of you will be nowhere. And be stuck together nowhere SUCKS... Sartre's No Exit level SUCKS! 😅

In other words, a man must do what it takes to appear superhuman to his woman so she'll fall into a kind of sexualized and romanticized respect with him. Because this is impossible to maintain, women initiate 80% of all divorces. This is why "commitment" is everything to a woman, but only up until the marriage contract is signed. Isn't loyalty to one's feelings a form of narcissism?

Holly cow, I could write a book just on my experience with this. I had a female relative just break one agreement after another because of feelings (my contempt on this is beyond measure) so I thought, OK I will teach her a lesson apparently, she thought that my one agreement was written in stone, a law a physics, a commandment from God, etc. So, I ended that agreement! 13 years after her death my family hardly talks to me even though I explained all of my actions vs. hers. See I punished a woman (who was massively overdue) and it looks like that is not supposed to happen.

@treeghettox The agreement was that I can live at her house (my mothers’) and pay rent as long as needed. However, I was no longer the family slave boy that was now ended. So, she throws me out of the house because I refused to be the family slave. This was clearly explained to her. I was just a tenant. So, she in evicting me broke that agreement (the major one) and others over her emotions. Loyalty to emotions! So, I ended my agreement to pay her back some borrowed money-a few thousand dollars. You can break agreements over nothing then so can I. So, family hardly talks to over this.

The problem I have with this argument in regards to not loving someone anymore, is that the "feeling" of love is a chemical thing. In nature a couple would engage with one another sexually, the woman would get pregnant, and that "feeling" of love would be there to ensure he'd guard her and keep her fed and safe. But then once that baby was born and she was back to normal, that chemical would generally fade and you no longer have that "feeling" any longer. Well this notion of people need to stay married until the love is gone is a terrible notion produced only by those who don't understand this simple concept. We live in a very "me" focused society. And this notion of "I just spent 20 years of my life with you, and because I'm bored or the feeling is gone, time to find someone else" is the mindset of an immature person. Duty to one's family is the most important thing there is. If you're dealing with a woman who doesn't understand that, then guess what? She's a stupid person. Women used to stand by their families, they don't anymore. Which is proof that our society has taken a terrible turn. Not that this logic is presenting a valid argument to defend it. No disrespect to you, but the point I make is that the previous model was the superior model. All this current way does is create an environment where a LOT of people are going to die alone. And that's a terrible thing.

( my myself more masculine personality with aggression traits in my DNA just like my dad unfortunately its a blessing and a tortue at same - i care equal feelings ) between men and female. - basically i care that feelings are equal. regardless the gender. but i feel female dont understand these things at all. and i felt in my workplace my female boss had almost zero work, but instead of " chill " she constently would try to " find " work - so she try fix other people behavior, in a controlling way. not only her, i had few females whose i experienced that behavior been similar. if there is no work for themselves they try find work in useless things. and make unneccesiary focus on them. i feel sometimes females generally been always treaten so well by their enviroments, cause they females, so they never really worked hard or really get treaten like absolute sh... im somehow thankfull and hurtfull to extreme - in my life - that in my family the enviroment i get been treaten was so equal - exact like my brother - i get same power as him. but also same punishment as him. i fighted verbal and by body with my brother. we beat each other. i wasnt beaten and thinking im a woman i dont deserve ( as i have aggressive traits i seen the beat as an equal response to his beat ) - that i been going through something really hard and taff days in my life in absolute lonelyness- as well. and never i wanted to rely on someone. woman or a men on that times. i kept this independence of accepting beeing a looner on my own failure. its something made me connected with men, generally - goinf through failure with my own response. made me feel understanding men. if they fail at something they 100% capable of their failure. to flesh and blood. this is what i learned to be connected with a men. and its an equality i feel to carry in my outside relationships as well. and my relationship are equal and loyal from both side. but equality in terms of feelings. not in terms of a womans body is capable to carry heavy things ( and stuff ) its impossible to be equal by body between men and woman. but its possible to be equal by feelinfs between men and woman. but woman dont want accepting it.until now 2023. because they sexualized themselves. by own freewill. by their own weakness of their personality. because they sexualized in historie. my opinion, woman myst stop to use their sexualization as a weapon. this will always create unequality in feelings between men and woman. i wished feminism nowadays will be changed into understanding that feelings of men and woman are equal and to this belongs " remove the sexualization as a weapon and manipulationtool " but i dont think woman will " give up that power " - they try to controll men through this. and then they wonder why their men cheats on exact that female that manipulated the men by her sexualization. females ... its a mess. female needs a lot of revolution. but its not ready yet. a men has a genius characteristic about handle their failure. a men has a genius characteristics about handle their sexualization of their own bodys. a woman, never was came to the point of understanding their absolute failure. this made me disconnected with females. im so masculine about this feel. simply because of their way they handle failure. i cannot deal i cannot friend with females. of course its bad for my husband or boyfriend. but i also never interests to betray my men as long he doesnt betray me its a 1 - 1 rule.

I can't remember who wrote/said this (I think it was Rollo, actually) but I am recalling a quote "men love idealistically, women love conditionally" My question is; assuming these definitions of loyalty are true, why would any man make this oath (marriage) with a woman? If the man said "I swear to love and uphold, etc etc" and then she said "I swear to love and uphold, etc etc, as long as I feel like it" I don't think many of these ceremonies would be happening. Things may have been different back when there were social structures and stigmas in place so that simply leaving wasn't the easiest course of action to take. But now, why bother?
@justincapable
@justincapable Жыл бұрын
It had nothing to do with social structures, but rather legal structures. A woman was less likely to work, but more importantly, she couldn't have a bank account without consent of her husband or father. Her financial ability was directly tied to her immediate family or husband. If the relationship was fine, then it didn't matter. On the other hand, if the relationship was toxic or abusive, she had to stay in the relationship or risk losing any financial gains. Now add the social stigma.

I disagree with Rollo on this as it was a generalization. Women love how she feels about you as an adjective. Men love our actions about her (the act of getting it on, spending money on her, setting dates, doing things around the house, etc). Case in point I am the 30% minority who divorced my exwife but still loved her. She cheated. In her eyes she didn't love him so it didn't count and she wanted to move it back based on she felt (funny she didn't love me a week ago). I was also severely disrespected and didn't want to come home seeing her knowing what she did every day. I left and filed. A woman on the other hand will stay in a marriage until she doesn't love him anyway. She could even be nice to her like a roomate. Actions don't mean anything as that is not love to her or marriage. It is an emotion. Now if we had an emotional affair but didn't sleep that would enrage her more in her eyes. This confused my ex-wife as women never ever leave a man she loves even if he is a jerk. IN her eyes I was unfaithfull since I stil loved her. Weird

Men unthinkingly derive emotional support and benefit from a wife, but many don't realize they need to provide it in return: emotional food is important for families in addition to subsistence food and shelter. Too many men don't realize they are emotionally dependent on wives until they are gone, whereas women may feel emotionally abandoned before the men are physically gone. Either abandonment is not okay. I do think men would have better success and derive greater benefit if they realized their own emotional health benefited from supporting the wife's emotional health and sense of value. I see a lot of comments on this video that show how obvious it is that many men don't (or do not wish to) get this basic point, and would rather blame the woman 100% for all problems.

Loyalty, in a relationship sense, that is conditional to feelings, is not loyalty. At best it is like a truce with an enemy that lasts until both parties handle a common threat together. It's a common trope in hero-villain team up fiction. If one recalls, those usually end with the hero betrayed as soon as the threat is ended. I believe I have heard many times that one cannot control the feelings of others. Not only that, but it is unhealthy to try. If that is the case, where does that leave us? There are far too many catastrophes that can happen to a person over which they have no control that could destroy superficial feelings. Job loss, illness, accident, etc. I don't know about anyone else but I would not want to be in a relationship with anyone who I thought would leave in those cases. BTW. A simple fix here is to agree from the start that the relationship is at the convenience of either party. Like a terminate for convenience clause in a contract. No committment is implied.

You have nailed the issue of loyalty so well... I can very well relate to the difference of what it means to men and women not only in what we see around, but also in the intimate experiences of my own life... what you say is valid across cultures... never before could I understand a man's perspective so clearly and so well... thank you for your work... in light of this, commitment phobia in men seems so understandable...

You are 100% spot on on this issue of the loyalty issue between men and women. For men, loyalty, like love, is an idealistic pursuit; whereas, in women, it is a very pragmatic and opportunistic means to a desired end, usually in terms of higher social status and greater material wealth. This might be something that is biologically programmed into them, as they have been the bearers and nurturers of children in society throughout history.

This one is a struggle for many people. For me I learned this about a decade ago, and God was that a blessing. Since then I’ve been working on investing in myself and consistently increasing my value in the marketplace and personal life. I’ve been married now for two years and my beautiful wife knows that if we split up I’m more likely to do better going forward as I am in a much better place than when she met me. She is a high value partner and I have every intention to stay married to her, and she’s also well aware that I’m worth the loyalty. As society, we really struggle with these “dark” truths, but it’s unproductive to argue with reality.

Oaths, vows, promises are irreverent human manipulations. They should be considered blasphemies. Only God can make promises. It pretty much implies a human can know better than nature, divinity, god - whatever may happen in the future. One should never EVER make a promise. Only the promise to do their best within the humble limits of their abilities. How can anyone be so arrogant and deluded to think they have that kind of absolute control over the future, including the evolution of their own soul? Don;t wanna break a promise? Don't make it! Who would want to keep someone prisoner who doesn't love then anymore just bc they made a promise in the past? Your soul/heart/feelings whatever flew away? Leave. There's nothing worse than sanctimonious people flaunting vows and oaths. It's sheer control.

I think we need to go back over the concept of "Loyalty to ones feelings". That's like saying something is pretty ugly or saying Indifferent Love. Two completely different opposite words tied to together to make a new meaning that doesn't exist. As far as I understand it " Loyalty to ones feelings" is another word for narcissism. I think maybe a better word would be "Loyalty to ones passions".

This actually happens even when the man she cheats with is just 6 and her husband is 10. This is because: 1) She wants to try a new dick or two or 3. Her hoe friends told her she is missing all the fun they are having. They fill her head with the feministic idea of female entitlement and empowerment and patriarchy. How monogamy was a scheme created by patriarchy and how oppressed she is. She starts to feel resentful about her husband for trapping her in the tyranny of monogamy and depriving her from all the excitement and fun that her friends are having. 2) She is confident that her husband will not find out her cheating. 3) She hopes she will be forgiven in the unlikely event she gets caught, because she thinks she will be able to gaslight him by somehow making him feel guilty with blame of inattention or too much attention. 4) The lusty attention from the other men make her feel she still has the feminine power over men. 5) She feels the excitement and thrill of illicit sex and kinky sex, like getting her face spread with man-juice, and getting drilled in her backdoor, getting throat choked and getting bum slapped, getting disrespected with trash talk.

So women in your view are the same as so-called "high value men", yet the behavior of "high value men" isn't incorporated into your view of "men in general". Men and women are equally warped and inadequate moral beings. This game of "but they're worse" that both genders are now playing is destructive, dishonest and self-absolving while demonising the other. A man who has sex with another woman while married to another does not love his wife and is not loyal to her. The same is true for a woman who does the same. There is no morally superior gender; we all suck. And obsessing about the flaws of the other isn't doing any of us any favours.
