That’s still going slow. Here In Canada that would be 8kmh which is equivalent to going 32 in a 40. That is slow. That is dangerous because it disrupts the flow of traffic, causes road rage and can cause the person coming up behind you to slam on their breaks. Just because a limit is say 50, doesn’t mean you can go any speed under 50. You need to go the limit or else you’ll disrupt traffic. Seeing how you don’t see this as a problem tells me you’re a slow driver. Which I would then say speed the hell up. Driving slow is just as dangerous as going fast and if you don’t believe that, you’ll soon find out the hard way how wrong you are

It absolutely INFURIATES ME TO NO END that a government official, bound by his oath to obey and defend the constitution, can behave in such a manner. It is absolutely atrocious. This is how they are trained, to search and look for something they can use to pin a crime on someone and extract money from them. @HashimotoDatsu
@HashimotoDatsu 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrBlaker412 I used to do the same when I worked in Loss Prevention. There is a mental play to it as well, as someone who willingly surrenders their ID is, in a sense, displaying a cooperative attitude. That is to say, when not in a traffic violation, you absolutely do not need to comply with that request unless you have been detained. I'm honestly shocked how many shoplifters just handed their IDs over just because of how polite I was. Long story short, its not improper to do this in a traffic stop and it can create a sense of security for the officer, although it does both parties good to clearly state the purpose behind the stop. Lastly to anyone reading, as loss prevention or asset protection, keep in mind you do not have to comply with us, but we generally have established as a reliable witness with the local police and are required to have substantial evidence of the crime committed. That doesn't mean we can refuse to return your ID, legally detain you in any way, or prevent you from exiting the encounter at any time. A police officer is given the authority to take these actions for the safety of evryone involved. Know your rights, but be as respectful as possible. Even if you are not getting it in return, it will be to your benefit should things need to go to court.

When I was stopped for nothing (driving a crap car in the nice part of town), the excuse was "From where I was it looked like your inspection was out of date", when the state inspection stickers were front window mounted and color coded. Odd, he didn't stop the Cadillac in front of me with the same color sticker, or the brand new 626 behind me. Once he saw I was a teen and all my paperwork checked out, he went back to his hiding spot to look for anyone who didn't belong (I was white, so I belonged, even if a teen with a cheap first car). I was going 30 in a 35, in a line of slow moving traffic. So he went back into the bushes to find someone else's rights to violate.

And as ive said, 5mph is nothing. If two vehicle are driving a total of 100 miles then the one going 70 will arive AT MOST 10 minutes before the one going 65(im too lazy to do the math). I am an elderly white guy with nearly 40 years Law Enforcement (retired) and Federal Security under my belt. The traffic stop on the video should never have happened. Surley this cop was fishing for an incident. I am still amused by a traffic stop in Georgia in the early 1970s. I was on family vacation traveling through GA on my way to NC and traveling in reasonably busy mid afternoon traffic on a four lane highway. Not familiar with the area, I was being extra careful especially when a GA State Trooper got on my tail. I sure didn't want a citation to explain to my commander upon return from leave. Oops, his blue lights came on. I was doing to speed limit of 70mph and that was his reason for stopping me. He told me I "NEEDED TO SPEED UP AN STAY WITH THE TRAFFIC FLOW... THAT I WAS IMPEDING TRAFFIC!" As a result of answering his 3rd degree questions,, he learned I worked Law Enforcement in the USAF and was on leave. I was Law Enforcement so he said as a "professional courtesy" he wasn't going to issue a citation. That was the only time that I know of ever hearing of anyone getting stopped for doing the speed limit when there was not an obvious safety issue at hand.; such as an accident, road construction, etc.

As a state trooper told me many years ago. The speed limit sign is there to tell you the max speed that you can drive. That sign is just giving out free information. But you can drive below the speed limit. Why drive 70 mph if you can drive 60 mph and go much further. Driving 65 and above has been proven to use more gas. And alot of people are on a fixed income, so we drive slower. Not like the cops, they go to there pumps and fill the tank up, without costing them a penny. Now if they want to fill my oversized tank on my Toyota Tacoma, I will be more then happy to follow them to there gas pumps. I paid alot of money for that oversized tank. A normal Tacoma tank is 15 gallons. My tank is twice as big. Yes it costs more to fill it up, but I can drive so much further then anybody else

@@andrewvelonis5940 Dude, saying that people 'obeying the speed limit' is inherently suspicious is incorrect and unreasonable. It is totally customary to exceed the speed limit, but driving a few mph under it will always be more legal than driving even a little over it. Those defending the officer's actions in this case would almost definitely also defend him if the driver was going +10,+5, or even +1mph over the limit.

Clearly the asshat cop wanted to go fishing but after seeing the cop behind me was waiting for me to turn right on red so he could try establish due cause for his hijinx I waited for the green light. The cop tried to bully me pointing out that I failed to turn right on read. I pointed out that turning right on red was an option and not a legal requirement. Then he began acting disparaging when I told him that I was on my way to work. He then snottily asked "where would someone like you be working." I happened to be on my way to the radio station where I worked on the air. He started getting a bit nervous at that point especially after taking down his name and badge number for the news director as I told the cop. He mumbled some bs about keeping traffic going at a normal rate and scuttled off down the road.

The cop literally warned him not to travel under the speed limit. And didn't even quallify that within a specified range below the speed limit. As it is totally impractical (in fact, impossible in real conditions) to constantly drive EXACTLY the speed limit, he literally is ordering him to commit a crime! That cop should be fired IMMEDIATELY. Indeed, I'm pretty sure it's criminal for a police officer to compell criminal behavior. That should be a felony. He should be thrown in jail.

He found a slower car, saw it was being driven by a black man, and decided to accost him. Asked where he worked and lived so he could see just how easy it was for him to defend against his wrongdoing. Gets an idea of how much money he makes, how many assets he may own, and thus how affordable a lawyer is for him. Found the black man had a clean record, and decided he needed to be warned for something that is CLEARLY not illegal (it's a speed LIMIT, ffs). That warning is now *something* on the black man's record, so punishing him for some minor thing or a trumped-up charge will be easier as they can establish a "pattern". Drops off the warning and hustles on outta there, ignoring the questions, because he knows it's nonsense. Hoped to not have to explain himself. Cause damage as anonymously as a cop possibly can. The cop then quickly shut down the verbal confrontation and shooed him away because he knew he might incriminate himself, and quite possibly due to an ego bruise--this one is just so intelligent, polite, and lawful; he might figure it out if he says too many things! This is a clear case of driving while black.
