Here's a question if one of the parents is green and have Blbl genes, and the other parent is blue budgie, what percentage of the off spring will be green and what percentage of the offspring will be blue? (explain your answer)
@nivedjoshy25094 жыл бұрын
50% green & 50% blue budgies. Green budgie heterozygous and blue budgie is homozygous. Here the green dominates.

I have a budgie male that appears to be bright green spangle with a deep golden/yellow face and a small amount of blue in the vent area and under the wing. I mated him to a blue opaline grey wing hen. What I'm mainly interested in is the blue and green outcome. There were 2 sets of offspring. 4 In one clutch and 3 in the other. Here is what I got. 2 sky blue spangles, one sky blue normal ,and 1 that appeared to be a sky blue with a heavy wash of green at first but on second molt looked just like the dad bright green spangle deep golden/yellow face blue in the vent area. Second clutch results 3 sky blue spangle babies. Am I correct in thinking that the male though he looked green was actually a golden face or yellow face that colored all of his blue so he looked green? I've seen yellow face on blue based birds and it looked more aqua or seafoam green not the bright green of this bird. Is the only way to tell if it's yellow face or golden face by breeding to another golden face or yellow face and seeing how the chicks turn out? Thank you for your help.

I believe if you watch my yellow/ golden face mutations video you would understand the results better. Your male appears to be a single factor golden face, which explains the results of your off spring.

I need help! I was wondering about getting a second budgie soon. I currently have one male budgie 8 months ago and he is 1 year old. He seems happy enough but sometimes he is really quiet and he is mostly a very sweet bird although does bite sometimes. He calls out for other birds and gets frightened easily. I am a student so I can’t really spend all the time I need with him. I was thinking if I should get another budgie to keep him company? I would love to but i’m not too sure if my parents would like it :/

Two budgies are always happier than single budgie. My best advice is, please get one more male budgie for your current budgie. Both male budgies get along very well 💖

Just a few questions for your next video. How does the ino mutation effect the offspring genetics? What happens when you breed a recessive traited green(recessive pied) with a dominant traited blue(opaline)? How likely is it if you breed a Yellow base color with a white base color for you to get a mix(white faced green, yellow faced blue)?

excellent questions I will address them in Q & A video :)

I had 2 budgies male is dark blue (violet) and female is sky blue. They mate and had 2 babies (male n female) both are sky blue ( there is little difference female baby is little bit light blue than the male baby) aftersome time those two baby budgies become adult and mated and made a male baby he is also light blue. So if i breed them again and again will they give the same light blue colour? If i breed my 1st pair again ( violet male and sky blue female) can't i have vilot colour babies?

Thank you, for your timely reply! Question 1: Any suggestions on what to do in regards to female budgie when nesting box is removed and she starts acting up or being depressed? Question 2: Will the pair consider it unforgivable removing the eggs and n. box? Question 3: When do you think it would be wise to begin breeding again?
@daniil20004 жыл бұрын
@@barakahyahamunah9792 I would say that it is completely ok to get rid of the eggs and nest box, budgies won't hold a grudge if you do, and I don't recommend you breed your budgies at all, if you don't know what you're doing you can accidentally end up killing one of them.
@daniil20004 жыл бұрын
@@barakahyahamunah9792 let's just say the fact that you're asking those questions proves that you have no idea what you're doing, which is extremely dangerous to your budgies life.

As far as I have studied genetics in my university days I have found that birds have Z and W chromosomes instead of X and Y. Male birds have ZZ chromosomes and females have ZW chromosomes.
@BudgieWorld4 жыл бұрын
true, the XY demonstration is to simplify things , just switched the Z to X and W to Y, other than that everything is the same

@@BudgieWorld Then you should mention at the start of the video that you have interchanged ZW ZZ to XY XX. Majority of the people here won't be knowing this fact that birds have ZZ and ZW chromosomes instead of XX and XY
