My wife and I love watching videos like this - where one person is neurodivergent and the other isn't...just like us! It has MASSIVELY helped our communication and honestly it's just so damn nice to see another couple that we can relate to. It's like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for the videos. 💜

It blows me away how articulative you are. There's never any pauses, no "ums", and you just say things right off the cuff and everything always sounds perfect and crystal clear. For me, it usually takes a lot of work and several takes in order to sound that way.

Yes, indeed. I just found this channel and noticed this too. I wish I was more articulate in speech myself. I have to generally write out my thoughts, especially when I have something important to communicate.

Thank you so much! I’m currently in couples therapy as an autistic person because of communication issues. It’s great to hear an honest conversation about it outside of freakin I statements which feels impossible due to not identifying feelings well.

Yes, very useful video! Thank you! Any chance you could do a video on emotional dysregulation and parenting while disregulated? It can be hard to role model the right behaviour for your kids. Especially without medication. Thanks for all your videos!!! Thanks to Mr. P as well for sharing.

Lol my poor husband finds my quick subject changes mid conversation hard to keep up with. My brain just remembers something else I meant to tell him and off I go in that direction and then I quickly pivot back to the original topic. Hubby thinks it's cos I'm a Gemini, his boss is a Gemini and she does the exact same thing to him at work 😂 My kids are diagnosed autistic, with OCD and anxiety disorders and I self diagnosed as autistic at 51 after they were diagnosed. My daughter's psychiatrist suggested it came from me but I don't see the point of getting diagnosed at my age. I never really knew what autism was and so thought that what my kids were going through was just normal because that's what happened to me growing up 🤷‍♀ No one has ever brought up ADHD to us but as I find out more about it I do wonder if I have traits in that direction that my kids don't have.

This is so helpful thank you both, communication issues nearly destroyed my marriage and I am still very scared about what the impact of a positive diagnosis will be when my assessment is finally done. I have an AQ of 48 so I’m fairly certain it will be positive and I really struggle with emotional disregulation which I mostly internalise , I have no middle ground and it’s really hard holding that in all the time so I don’t affect my husband or those around me, so it’s good seeing that there are husbands out there who understand and are supportive

The last part about having some fun, not just doing the hard stuff, I really needed to hear. Figuring out my mental health issues has been my obsessive special interest for a while now, plus I can talk anyone (including myself) into exhaustion. Anhedonia has been making going out and having fun hard. (COVID hasn't helped either.) I get Mr. Purple not knowing what he'll wake up too or where it'll go, I wish I knew that about myself on any given day. "I'm really irritable this morning, and I don't know why" -- yep! Dysregulation is a big fat pain.

I love the two of you together. I have an official ADHD diagnosis but I suspect I might be autistic as well. I sent this to my husband and said, “It’s almost like watching ourselves with an accent”. I can relate to this so much and I think my husband will as well. You both have the same temperaments as us and my husband is so similar to Mr. Purple. I have no idea where to go from here but I think this almost assures me that I have autism. (Of course, after doing a LOT of research.) I was also been diagnosed with bipolar 20 years ago. I refused that diagnosis. I’ll be 44 on December 12th and now see that just because I had a SA didn’t mean I was automatically bipolar. Anyway, thank you to both of you. Mr. Purple, I hope you make more appearances. Thank you, Ella!

Supreme, sometimes the traits you describe in your relationship are the same but in opposite people in mine. Your descriptions help validate and confirm the worth of concerted effort by both. I learn and discover new and proven help every time I watch your work. Mr. Purple is a joy and an inspiration as are you. Thank you again for the confirming validating education videos.

This was so great for my husband and I! The sarcasm stuff, meltdowns, thunderstorms, which I’ve also turned to my hubby and said “it’s hard for me too” - and the adhd talking about everything and how he wants to fix it and then realizes he needs to listen and help me sift or just be there. Wow! I showed my husband this video and he nodded and it has been so very helpful. Thank you so much Mrs & Mr Purple!!💜

Could you cover a topic of advice for people like your husband but at a younger age? Like how they can be more consistent with communicating while still going out and having fun with friends? (I'm 20 and my partner is 22) We both are very mature in some areas and not so much in others. Advice on balancing and recognizing when the maturity level is decreasing during a sensitive situation will be immensely appreciated!
