Pursuit Sportfishing Catalina Island November 24th 2023

Full Day Fishing Catalina Island out of 22nd Street Landing San Pedro California on the Pursuit with Captain Gus , Cook Ryan and Deck Hand Jordan .Black friday (15) Anglers total fished 60-80ft depths for most of the day limiting on Blue Perch ,Opaleye and other bottom critters . We ended the trip fishing for Rock fish in 400ft depths grabbing up some Cods and Groupers . I won the Pot with the biggest fish beign on of my Groupers . Huge thank you to Captain Gus , Ryan and Jordan for another successful trip .

@@ArthurPereira1974 when you say large, what you think your madkatz can handle, its a medium. under 50lb? has it pull on yellow tail yet? i have heavy madkatz and medium heavy madkatz, rated for 40-80 and 20-60. i dont know if it have the backbone to catch a tuna. I am going to give it a shot.

@glenndavidson1407 I dont have an August trip setup yet , But will see what i can do about adding it to my list . Currently i have the following trips planned for 2024 , Producer 1.5 day April 26th-28th , Producer 1.5 day May 31st-June 2nd and Producer Overnight July 5th -6th . But i will be adding more . @Spyderx92 , I have a few customs . This Trip I only brought 1. Squidco in San Diego builds custom rods , I have 4 from them .. The 1 I used this trip is a Varmac Graph-x blank , Alloy Reel seat with Stainless guides , 7ft , 20- 50 rated. Thank you for watching , hope to see you out there sometime .

Cat has been fished out , even rock fish are small compared many years ago. Sad

@Kennyr9062 , Ive been fishing Catalina for some tims now . Seems to me the fish havent change , other then they bite better some days then others . I recently fished south of Ensenada at Castros and size was very simular . Alswo fished channel islands with the same size fish. The only time ive notice a considerable size difference is when looking at old black and white pics with Anglers catching astronomical sized fish , even when i was a kid fiashing the O'side pier Bonita where more prevalent and bigger also . The fishing has declined dramatically the fish are small , the sheepsheads I caught fairly regularly back in the 1970's were twice the size as I am seeing now. We even released a lot of the really large ones as they were old fish but prolific breeders. They just take a long time to get big 20 to 30 years . Heavy fishing pressure and you diminish the stocks to a few big breeders and the rest are runts.

@heyjim52 12" is the size limit on Sheepshead. I still see larger ones caught on occasion . I myself had never even caught one till this trip. Alot fishing has change since the good old days , some for the worse and some for the best . I remember fishing the Oceanside Pier in the early 80's and Large Bonita where everywhere , these days lucky if you get a little 8" guy in the mixture of small mackerels . On the other hand , seen alot of really good grade Tuna , Dorado and Yellowtail over the past 10 years , better than I had seen before. Thank you for watching , hope to see you out there sometime. 🎣😎🐟
