I just let my son go in his room an play with his toys til he passes out. There's no getting that boy to bed if your in the room with him. He needs time by himself to play and mentally unwind then he passes out before long happy and tired.

Some kids are just independent, they don’t need you for much if they can do it themselves. My youngest, tried to have him on a napping schedule like my other 2 but he would just go and lay down, take a nap all on his own. I’d go look for him and he was already doing nap time, same with bed time when we stay up later during the weekends.

My pops had the exact same "problem" with me 😅 one night he put on the discovery channel, hoping to bore me to sleep he says. Instead this became a decade-long tradition of ours that we dubbed "Bedtime Discovery Hour" 😅❤️ I LOVED it and so did he - we still do! Man, forgive me. I just got so nostalgic over your comment about your chatty kiddo 😅 See I'm 25 now, and my dad has serious health problems these days, so we can't visit at all during the pandemic. . . but some nights he'll call me up at 10:30 pm SHARP, talking about how he "hasn't been sleeping too well," and I know what that means. We watch our 10:30 Discovery Hour on the phone together and he is SO chatty through the whole thing just like I used to be 😅 He just wants to talk to me, I can tell. I don't dare hang up until I know he's fast asleep either, no matter how long it takes, lol. It's honestly a very precious thing to experience the other side of that coin now. I'm so grateful.

I used to struggle a lot with bedtime and...It May sound overly simple but they will go to bed if they are exhausted and fed. Don’t let them nap if you fight bedtime. and just make it normal-it’s 8, read two stories and lights out. Seriously my kids used to go to bed at midnight because they napped too long during the day and it was awful. also limit sugar. This sounds like duh but my kids just go to sleep now and sleep 11 hrs a night 99% of the time.

ppl taking a comedian joke a bit too serious maybe. gonna say it's literally a guessing game with every kid, cuz some ppl just finds the solution faster but there's noone who knows their kid before they try a few things, and some parents just don't fit using Kevin's described method due to lack of time and/or patience. he also prob asked his wife and he's just repeating in a way here what his wife tells him to do cuz she's the primary carer that teaches the habits to their kids I think.

Kids are only as complicated as the parent makes it. In 6 or 7 yrs they're grown and don't need you all the time. Our kids put themselves to sleep after we do our skincare routines and prayers together. Makes me happy I actually have a family and no longer have to pretend I'm happy without them.
