Depending on who you ask, they've already fucked up the franchises, like they believe everything after morrowind and new vegas sucks balls. I myself like skyrim and fallout 4 so hopefully they don't drop the ball like they already did with those two, but considering how game development is these days, the bar is set reeeeeal fucking low and I won't be surprised if the games come out a shit-show with lots of scraped/missing content.

Arkane has not released a decent title since the founder, Raphaël Colantonio, left the company in 2017. He worked as a game director/designer on every single succesful title that the company released: Arx fatalis, Dark messiah of might and magic, Dishonored, Prey. He left to go on to create Wolfeye Studios that, under the publishing of Devolver Digital, has released the critically acclaimed rpg Weird West. As it is apparent to me, Colantonio was what made Arkane what it was, and without him, things aren't working out. There are probably more reasons to explain the "fall" of Arkane, but missing its founder/lead director/lead designer, i don't know, seems like that would be a pretty big issue for a studio.

I had avoided this game because every time it was shown it looked quite bad. Also Arcanes gunplay has always been the weakest part of their games. But holy crap i was blown away to discover this was a looter shooter. I can not express how tired i am of shoehorned gear stats that mean absolutely nothing that cause me to spend more time in menus destroying worthless loot than actually playing the game.

Arkane Austin made Prey the two studios combined forces in making the original dishonoured and they split off to make there own games Arkane Lyon went on to make dishonoured 2 and Deathloop whilst Arkane Austin went on to make prey and Redfall.

One (of many...) issues that I've noticed with this game is that you fight way, WAY too many vampires. If I were to design it they'd be a lot more spaced out, much made much more powerful than the generic enemies. Make the cults the main villains you fight, and leave lesser vampires as super elite enemies, mini-bosses, and proper bosses. From everything I've seen they don't feel threatening at all, especially when Pyro here can kill one after another without even really trying

Am I the only one noticing how games are becoming more and more cartoonish looking? Like, there was the stylization in Prey and Dishonored, but the lighting and quality of the textures made it so there was still a very serious and realistic look to it. Meanwhile with more games, particles seem extremely glowey, textures seems blended together with an immersion blender, and overall looks are very mushy and unclean.

I wouldn't agree per se. Take le funni Fortnite for example. It's cartoony but its lighting is really ahead technology wise, making for very scenic shots if you turn off UI or ignore the player model/use a serious looking skin. You may say yeah, it's Epic Games on their own engine known to be a realism powerhouse, but cartoony games have always been the majority since straight up realism is not only very expensive, but also hard to make unique Not defending this absolute abomination though, it looks awful. But I wouldn't say it's because of the graphics worsening trend, more like the overall game quality on release being an absolute joke, so fine stuff like lighting gets neglected

Dishonored 1 was made between Arkane Austin & Lyon. Dishonored 2 was only Lyon. Prey was only Arkane Austin. Deathloop was Lyon mostly from what I can read up on.
