Others companies like Ruger are too busy selling a $1,100 .308’s made out of plastic with oversized peep sights to care about performance, I think Q is a bit expensive for what it is but they produce results and the few guns I’ve shot of theirs have had minimal malfunctions, typically induced by crap ammo

Why not develop bullets like the Russian 9x39, that have the boattail longer than the front ogive. This shape delivers better subsonic stability at longer ranges because the bullet uses the long tail to stabiles itself like an Olympic javelin, where the tail is bushed to the centre of the trajectory by the oncoming wind?

Bullet composition, that is what has held back twist rates. You'll spin apart that cheap and poorly designed stuff. However, if you mass produce well designed bullets constructed with proper materials, those bullets become the cheap stuff. Guns are fancy paperweights if you can't feed them. I like the Bob Dylan aesthetic of these videos, but visualizations would be more helpful than words.

@@Michaeldpress14 fast twist doesnt add a ton of energy. 84ft lb on a 1-3 8.6 aub vs 1-8 8.6 sub. the angular speed is fast +700 but not 2000fps (usual min opening linear speed) so id be curious what combination of linear and angular/rotational speed provides the terminal effect everyone mentions. you also have to use about 10% more powder to get it to spin faster

Law Tactical folders, etc. are clunky AF. What I really want is MCX Rattler in 8.6BLK with 5.5" barrel. If I can get a 6" for the Boombox I might do it, even though I think it's overpriced by $1k.

@@johnadams673 1) you use more powder the faster you spin. 2) the rifling is single point cut at this time and is time consuming 3) bullet composition and uniformity matters more as you spin faster 4) linear energy adds a substantial portion of the energy. while getting to the target faster, less leads. 84ftlb gain over a 1-8 but shy of the 777ftlb linear for a 350gr 8.6 subsonic at 1000fps and 240k rpms. 5) their is no free lunch, fast twist benefits slower projectiles more. the more rotational energy the less linear energy youll have.
