Ooof. Copium. I don't care if its 5% louder. I can't tell and I'd be wearing ear pro with your normal suppressors too because I'm shooting 5.56. I don't want my gun to be ridiculously overgassed and I don't want some adjustable gas block that's just gonna carbon lock after a few thousand rounds. Flow through is awesome on an AR15. I haven't met a single person who tries one and goes "wow this sucks dude. I wanna go back to my normal welded baffle stack so I have to tune the gun so much that it won't run unsuppressed". Being able to shoot suppressed but still get 3 o'clock ejection with a normal carbine spring and an H2 buffer and no adjustable gas is cool. It's really cool.

100% agree. But, playing devil's advocate, Jay doesn't test flash and all of his tests are in the free field. He's very clear about his testing limitations. Now, luckily, I've never fired a flow-through can in my kitchen, but I suspect it would be a bit louder than a traditional can. For military customers, I have read reports that the HUX cans do have visibly more flash at night, and especially under night vision.

pew science's mic positions are specifically listed. you get less gas thru the action causing less "port pop". so flow through cans sound quieter to you but NOT to everyone else. they also suck at flash mitigation and produce large fireballs. and because they have a lot of surface area for the flame to touch, heat up faster and are visiblly glowing after 1 mag under night vision. AND get dirtier faster because of the large surface area causing more frequent cleanings or a less useful/clogged silencer that is more difficult to clean

I own both styles of cans and have been shooting them 30 years. For semi auto guns, the flow through solves many problems. The additional noise (if any) and flash (if any), is not an issue for .civ folks anyway. In my experience, there isn’t a detectable difference at my ear or eye anyway and I do appreciate the lower back pressure and ability to run the semi the same way whether suppressed or not without having to tune stuff. For a bolt gun, flow through makes little sense to me so I buy that argument. I own a lot of Q (including cans) and love their stuff so no bias there. Not sure what caused this rant. :). I love the Huxwrx Flow 556k suppressors. Mounting system is great, they're light weight, as quiet as most traditional suppressors, the flash isnt bad at all, and best of all it smooths out the already mild recoil of a 556. Has anyone actually used one of these and not loved it? I've never met anyone that has. Plus anytime the bullet is supersonic you're wearing ear pro during a range day (unless you shoot 30 rounds out of a bolt gun on your range day).

Honestly I've not met a single person who doesn't like the flow 5.56k. They hit a home run with that thing. Only criticism I've heard is that it isn't as robust as an RC2 and will eventually need to be replaced if you shoot a lot. But there are other suppressors, like the KAC PRT series or the RC3 that will probably last forever.

I have the B&T SRBS in titanium. It’s great on my 11.5 5.56 Colt. Light AF, only 10 deg of ejection change from unsuppressed. Sounds fine without earpro but not as quiet as the jumbo shrimp on the same gun. The selling points for me were the weight, Surefire Romex hub and no tuning required. Will I buy another? Probably not. Do I have 4 Q cans that I use heavily? Yes

Quietest 5.56 conventional baffle cans are 140 dB range, and if you run a quiet 30 cal can with 5.56 like the TBAC Magnus or SiCo Omega 300, that's in the 130 dBs. Still not hearing safe. The loudest flow cans are in the 150 dB range if that. If you're not wearing any hearing protection when shooting suppressed supersonic rifle cartridges, you will lose hearing. That 10 dB isn't very noticeable with hearing protection (which you should be wearing). The Comtac VI / VII's that the operators wear provide about 23 dB NRR (along with comms capability) and situational awareness. The Peltor TEP-300s (which are the in-ear version of the Comtac) with Skull Screws offer 30 dB NRR with comms capability. HUXWRX Ventum and Flow are not "loud asf" with any hearing protection versus something like a Polonium. Someone clapping their hand at your ear is like 110 dB. That will usually cause ringing unless your hearing is already shot.

If you're running a gas gun, then yes. Bolt gun numbers at the ear for something like 556 aren't that high suppressed. If you really believe that sporting use 130dB in the free field will cause instant, irrecoverable hearing loss, then using ear pro with unsuppressed rifles will also cause hearing damage as well as no earpro will tame a 165dB shot below that 85dB number that keeps getting thrown around...even if you do plugs and muffs, their NRR is not directly additive, so no 20dB NRR + 35dB NRR shenanigans.

And the first time I fired it was on July 4th this year, so there were plenty of mild firecrackers around. No ear pro. Again, no idea what it measures at, and maybe my ears are already trashed, but it wasn't uncomfortable at all.

LOL, love this. I feel the same way. With better tech my opinion may change. B&T is saying we are on the verge of making something identical in regards to suppression of noise and flash, and well they are kind of one of the bests in this area. That being said, an LMT Enhanced BCG with bolt takes total advantage of traditional cans, it needs the pressure to operate effectively. What that BCG and bolt does for the system in regards to longevity is pretty friggin radical man. I really dig old school suppressors. If I was shooting 100,000 rounds a year like some crazy operator well then flow through makes more sense only for health reasons.

Well designed flow through like Huxwrx, Cat, SiCo Velos, For Systems, etc rival or exceed the suppression of legacy baffle designs at the same weight/length while significantly reducing or eliminating gas blow back to the shooter.

In order for 556 to be effective, it has to be fast. You can’t make a fast round quiet and effective. If you want quiet, shoot 300 blackout subs. Flow through is KING for 556. It’s more reliable and less toxic gas to the face and no tuning is needed with flow through or low back pressure silencers

I'd add, if you design the gun and select the caliber to run suppressed, then flow thru is degrading performance. Q is all about peak performance, not compromise, so this video makes sense. On any other platform and for most 556 applications (or really any supersonic caliber) you're not taming the signature you're just taking the edge off, with any suppressor. Then there is suppressor material construction to consider. With a titanium can you might as well be shooting sparklers in any context but the brightest sunlight.

Typical half thought out criticism from Q. Flow thru is a compromise, but there are good reasons. Cans ARE NOT hearing safe for more than one shot. Protect your ears. Gas blow back is a serious heath concern in gas guns. High backpressure will foul the gun sooner and cause malfunctions.

I bought one for my first suppressor. I feel like i got scammed. I read alot of reviews saying it was a good can. I twist my buddies can on and i can only hear the action. Flow through is a gimmick dont waste your money
