I flew on the Qsuite from Houston to Doha in November when I went to the Maldives and I loved every second of it. They held the plane for almost 15 minutes in Houston for me because my flight from Orlando to Houston with United was 4 hours late. The flight attendants were beyond friendly and hospitable. We asked for extra Castello Monte Vibiano face spray that came with the amenities kit and the crew gave us multiple bottles lol. My friend and I clearly didn't belong in business class but the flight crew had so much fun with us. They treated everyone like royalty. Qatar Airways is amazing.

I flew IAD-DOH-JNB in July in business class and it was spectacular. From the moment I stepped on the plane, I was treated like a king. The flight attendants greated me by name and thanked me for flying with them. The most memorable part was stepping off the plane and the real feel temperature was 112°. DOH is a stunning airport and the lounges were just as great.

Just did 4 legs recently - 3 in QSuite - and all on different aircraft...would have been something for you...started on a Dreamliner which was already a very good treat and continued on a 777. My shortest ever 777 flight with only 38min from Doha to Dubai. As this leg was branded as First Class for whatever reason we were entitled to visit the First Class Lounge in Doha sipping 160€ a bottle champagne, very lavish. So far the best lounge I visited. On our flight back we had an A350-1000 back to Doha and an A350-900 to Frankfurt before finally continuing to Vienna, my home town.

I had the pleasure of Qatar Airways a couple of years ago from Edinburgh to Sydney in “normal” class on a Airbus 900…I think. The seats were comfortable with very reasonable leg room. (I’m 6ft 2in tall). The food and service to Doha was excellent with efficient and friendly crew. The second leg to Sydney was on a A380 in standard class. It was a very full flight. The leg room was quite tight but again the service and entertainment system provided plenty of distractions. The crew were excellent all through the various service times, chatty and friendly and always willing to help. We hope to try Qsuite in the next year or so, but it’s impossible to criticise the crew on any of our flights, they were amazing! Last of all I wish you two a happy time on your travels, ,and perhaps you can Mr Bunnik in Australia sometime. Happy travels.

Hi Jeb, to answer your question about flight duration you will recall your LHR to Perth, Australia trip. My bride ( of 53 years) and I did that trip twice: Melbourne to LHR and return and of course on a Qantas B 787. Naturally we both are now waiting for the commencement of Project Sunrise where the proposal is to fly direct from Melbourne and other eastern Australian cities to places like London, Paris and New York. Now that would really make a honeymoon flight for you both, albeit belated. Fantastic to see that someone is flying again, we will wait until the hassles of endless tests are over.

As far as saving your choices on the IFE, you can create a playlist with movies/tv shows to revisit during the flight. The interface takes a few mins to get used to but they do have a quality product, you can even sync your smartphone and use it as a remote instead (depending on the aircraft).

I've done the Atlanta to Doha route at least 8 times and i'm only 12! For me, an ultra-long haul flight would be one that lakes longer than 14 hours. I've just done too many long haul 12 to 13 hour flights to put them in that category. Interestingly, the Doha to Atlanta route takes 14 to 15 hours, which does put it in the ultra-long haul category. I did that because the return flights are always more boring and make for not so good an experience.

congratulations to you both on the life commitment. As an Aussie, just about everywhere offshore is long haul, and however long it takes is just that. You get used to it, but need to have the right mental state and take things as they happen. Have done many long haul flights. Most common would be MEL-LAX with the connection to JFK pushing 24 hrs (I include getting through US immigration as part of "long haul" ) Melbourne to Europe (LHR, CDG, FRA, HEL, ZRH, VIE) is typically 20+ flight hours plus a couple of hours (if you are lucky) in SIN / BKK / HKG / DXB / DOH / AUH along the way. Longest direct flights were Sydney - Dallas Fort Worth (A380 economy, 17.5 hours) and Perth - London (B787 business, 18 hours) both on Qantas and it was OK.

Have only joined /subscribed in the last couple of weeks- really enjoyed video and enthusiasm as well as objective and “unbiased” opinion. Re. First class being a smaller cabin, many years ago my wife and I flew Air France first class to Toronto. Only 1 row of First Class on an A340 and we were the only passengers; in my wife’s eyes made even better as a fellow passenger on the connecting flight from Manchester to Paris had apparently “looked down” on my wife only to be on the same onward flight but “only” in Business so had to walk past and beyond the curtain ! Other story was the chief pursar knew I was a gold card member and guessed my wife and I were on an airmiles holiday (he was right !) so we had a younger, less experienced cabin steward serving which was great. My wife doesn’t drink on flights and the steward was desperate to open a bottle of Dom Perignon just me !

Congratulations to the Happy Couple, and many, many years of happiness. I'm a QR frequent flyer. Very much appreciate your review. Have taken that flight, but mainly ORD-DOH, and lots in the region. It is indeed a five-star airline, and a pleasure to fly. I entirely agree about IFE. Have flown QR for eight years now and i cannot find movies, albums, TV shows twice. QR IFE needs a table of contents or -- as you say -- a robust search function. I have a food allergy, they bend over backwards to accommodate all manner of dietary restrictions, while also serving extraordinarily tasty airline food. And -- they keep my allergy info on file, so they know what i'll be ordering. Very thoughtful. The cabin people are exceptional. They always make or break an airline. These folks -- men and women, from every point on the compass -- work hard and remain cheerful. I tip my hat. Finally, a BIG SHOUT OUT to the ORD counter crew. It's a growing station, but they get us on and out like consummate professionals. As the folks who set the tone for a trip -- especially a long trip -- counter people are frequently overlooked. I try to engage them and recognize their role in getting me wherever i need to go. QR's blend pleasantness and efficiency. I wish U.S. carries would learn. W QR i've gone to Paris, Madrid, London, Kiev, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuwait City, Amman, Istanbul (old and new), Muscat, Delhi, Mumbai, Hong Kong and of course Dubai. Chicago, Philadelphia and DC in U.S. The uniform high quality throughout the system -- both on ground and in air, is itself a wonder. BIG LESSON for AA, or even UA, should they choose to improve. Thanks again, and all the best on beginning your lives together.

I flew 16 hours in a Qsuite from Doha to Houston. While I loved the food (I wanted to order the burger twice! LOL) and enjoyed the service, I surprisingly DID NOT love the seat. I like to adjust between sit, recline, sleep positions repeatedly and the location of the hip fold was always bothersome. I'm only 5'5" but found my feet often jammed against the foot well unless I did a whole body heave adjustment. Overall it was great, but surprised how often the seat gave me fits.
