This entire song, lyrically, is a masterpiece. "They're just photos after all, outside the frame, is what we're leaving out, won't remember anyway" Good lord that is good. The photo isn't important because everything that's NOT in the photo is what mattered, but you don't think about what's just outside the frame of the photo. The ever quoted (rightfully so) "I want something good to die for, to make it beautiful to live" out whatever you want there..it's an AMAZING line. Could go on and on with this song.

Let's not forget . So safe to play along . Little soldiers in a row. Falling in and out of love. Something sweet to throw away. Damn . I lived that. She is riding the CC and I want a new mistake. And the emphasis on the line do you believe it in your head.. all sung differently, yes a masterpiece.

I was 15 and salty about being born too late for "good music" when this came out. Songs for the deaf would have been the very first thing I heard that was rad and of my own time. Whenever I come across something from this album, it takes me back to the excitement of having something new and feeling the urgency to push it on to friends. I hope no generation goes without that.
@jrodowens3 жыл бұрын
I guess I'm still a little salty. I'm close in age, I reckon.. remember just recently thinking I graduated high school at the very last death rattle of rock & roll (rightly or wrongly.) By the Way by the Chili Peppers was the rock album of my senior year, and anthem of that summer for me and my friends (went to see them in San Antonio, good show) Remember listening to my radio as a boy, always waiting for '1979' or maybe something from Pearl Jam, etc to come on and being so excited when they did. I'm with you in that I hope young people always get to experience something at least akin to that..

"Go With The Flow" She said, "I'll throw myself away. They're just photos after all." I can't make you hang around. I can't wash you off my skin. Outside the frame is what we're leaving out You won't remember anyway I can go With the flow (I can go) Time will say it doesn't matter (with the flow), matter anymore I can go With the flow (I can go) Do you believe it in your head? It's so safe to play along Little soldiers in a row Falling in and out of love Something sweet to throw away. I want something good to die for To make it beautiful to live. I want a new mistake, Lose is more than hesitate. Do you believe it in your head? I can go With the flow (I can go) Don't say it doesn't matter (with the flow), matter anymore I can go With the flow (I can go) Do you believe it in your head? I love the vibe they created in this song... I can feel the frenzy sound of the guitar in its little but very tight solos; the bass staying modest, yet knowing when to shine; the very steady piano giving a thrill and stress that embrace the lyrics, plus the drums repeating his 2-measures loop, with each of both measure giving a different feeling; the singer is singing good and the others voices comes filling the right moments. All of that makes a tight and very powerful song. The lyrics depicts that sadness of a person "A" getting let behind, but tries to justifiy his perception of love so person "B" might turn back. It's an attempt, still, it's hard to convince someone to stay but I can understand the risk that person "A" whant to cherish so much. "lose is more than hesitate" sends me to the bravery it takes to get in relationship. Off course, someone in the comments told about another verse of the lyrics and it is also very important: "But I want something good to die for / To make it beautiful to live". The risk comes with the gain of something better, so the beauty of life must be cherished too. Excellent work, Queens of the Stone Age. Let's hope love can be that passionate in this world! :)
