I heard that if you move the VST's from one location to another (in some DAWS), then that action would result in future problems for updates.

Can anyone answer this.. I used Pro Tools many moons ago. And now wanting to get back into it.. But getting away from PTs and want to start with Studio One 3 because someone blessed me with an older Presonus interface. and idk if it'll work with version 5? In Pro tools I was taught to store your files on a FireWire drive while running the DAW on the main machine/Mac or PC. So while you were running the software your computer was 100% dedicated to running Pro tools, as it saved the audio files & session to the external drive. you could not run it without two hard drives. is this still the case nowadays? Or can you just do everything on the internal drive of a MacBook Pro?

Does this DAW not recognize interfaces such as Mobile pre M-Audio? I used it in the passed with Sonar x3 and ProTools but somehow cant find a way to link the audio or administrate it.

Great video as usual! So just to clarify, do you also install all of your 3rd party VSTs in the "VST Plugins" folders you created? (As opposed to the default locations they installed to automatically?)
@quantaaudio

Yes, but this is just what I prefer, personally. I find it to be a lot cleaner. Otherwise, you're going to need to take note of each specific location that the 3rd party VSTs are being saved to, and then add those locations to the "Locations/VST Plug-ins" tab within the options menu.

Nice video, very helpful! I have one question though. Why not just make it neater and also have the VST's saved together with every other Studio One file on that external hard drive you use? Wouldn't that be better than having them saved in seperate Program Files on the C drive? That's what I'm thinking if doing. I have Reason and besides the program itself, it keep all it's files within the same folder and it's been great for me. Is there any reason you do it in the way you do? Thanks again.

Bro, I am experiencing some pretty odd behavior in Studio One. When I look to drag samples into Impakt XT from the File tab in the browser, the sounds audition automatically. However, after I drag a sample onto a pad, then click on a different sound within the browser, it doesn't audition sounds again until I hit the play button at the bottom. Please tell me how to fix this. This occurs even when I press the "+" button on Impakt XT to add samples from Windows Explorer. These should audition automatically, correct?

I figured it out. You just have to double click the next sound after dragging a sound into the program.

when i import a wav file from a random folder into cubase it puts a copy into my project folder so if i change to another computer or delete the original file it still works, is there a way to do this in studio one?
@quantaaudio
@quantaaudio 4 жыл бұрын
It should function the exact same way. If you import audio files or record audio, you can see them within the "Pool"(in the browser, just as Cubase has...) as well as in your S1 project folder.

Quanta , i just got a new hard drive and I transferred all my files to the new one. Now when I pull up impact all my preset drum sounds don't come up. They all come up as missing. I created my impact presets by going to my drums folder and dragging it on to impact as preset. Since I switched external hard drives , I can't impact to recognize my drums folder , so my presets can load up. The presets are showing , but files won't show up.

I would go to the options menu, choose the "User Data" tab and then re-map your "User Data Location" to where you moved your files on the new hard drive. This is about the best advice I can give without seeing your actual setup. You could always do a search of your new external hard drive for: "songs projects presets" and choose to show that directory. Based on the directory mapping that is shown, use that as your input for the user data location in S1's option menu. Hope this helps...

I fixed it , I had to put the same letter that my old hard drive had. Once I did that , studio one thought that it was the old one , in which it was the new one. Changing the letter , fixed everything.

Can i load v2 project files into v3?
@quantaaudio
@quantaaudio 7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure pretty sure you can. I'd just make a copy of your V2 files and then load those, just to be sure you can go back to V2 if you'd like as some things in V3 may not be backward compatible. If that's even a concern, for you.
