Saturday May 20th we held the Western RC Flyers annual "WWI & Golden Age" Fun Fly at our field outside of Omaha, Nebr. near the town of Mead. Shown are 5 BUSA 1/4 scale models that participated. The SPAD XIII on left belongs to Larry Inness; Fokker D7 is Bernie Baker's; the Fokker Eindecker was modified into a Pfalz E.1 by Ronald Kriege; my two are the Sopwith Pup and SPAD XIII on the right.
Note that the two SPADs were built same time. Latex paint job is a mirror image on each. Meaning the camo is opposite on the aircraft.
All use 26cc engines except Bernie's D7 with a G38. The four of us put these fighters into the air together and fly as close to each other as we dare. A blast and the sound of all our engines droning in the air in group fly-bys is cool.
