Also, Freddie was always too warm under the lights, which why he began wearing less to perform, so I imagine any glass of water or beer became too warm quickly. I one performance all he wore were white tennis shorts, no shirts, shoes or socks.

I remember in the early days of TV, live, a woman performed wearing a v-neck dress and a lovely, fairly large pendant. By the end of the song, she had a very visible burn where the lights had heated the metal of the pendant. I don't think Freddie drank a lot of beer, I have only seen him take a sip or two while singing, probably because his throat was so dry. I surely wish I had been in the audience to catch one of the water cups that he tossed to them. I would treasure it forever!

Queen had Thank God It's Christmas and the beautiful A Winters Tale about how beautiful the view was from his home in Montreux. The cups were for Freddie. They were beer, water and the special brew for his throat of hot lemon and honey. A lot of the time he took a sip of water and poured it over the crowd so maybe that's why he had so many. Roger and Brian both had beer and John had a whole cocktail bar including chocolate M and Ms and nuts which he tossed at Brian during his guitar solo. Love your reaction to this great song.

yvr kid Yeah Freddie was having throat problems around 1984 and he didn’t know but it was symptoms of HIV. His throat was really bad when he performed at live aid and against his doctors advice.

There will have been some vodka among them too. If you watch the video for Spread Your Wings Freddie was pissed. He had a bottle of brandy and puked in Roger's garden after the video.

@yvrkid7070 4 жыл бұрын
@@michelle88960 Peter Hince, Freddie and John's roadie from 1973-1986 wrote in his book Queen Unseen of the on stage beverages. He said "water and beer for Freddie, beer for Brian and Roger, and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time. Added to John's cocktail lounge were mixed nuts and chocolate M&M's". In the early days Fred would have his water in champagne glasses but after a member of the audience was injured he changed to plain paper cups. So nope. No vodka for Freddie on stage.

Growing up with Queen I use to hear people say they weren't very good live. That they didn't play all Bohemian Rhapsody. They inserted part in with studio then they reappeared. But I never understood the criticism. Every time I have seen the live performances they were great. Stole the Show at Live Aid. But one our local DJ's always said they were bad live. But I base it on facts and fact is the were Great Entertainers

Their shows were 2 hours long so I think all the cups were for him. He probably never drank them all. John was known to have a "complete bar" behind his amps. CUPS: All the cups on the piano are Freddie’s, as it has always been, even before and after he was diagnosed with AIDS. You will NEVER EVER see other band members run to the piano for a drink, during a LIVE show. Why so many? Sometimes there are different beverages in the cups or sometimes they just got warm or cold, depending on the beverage. As for the rest of the band, each band member had their own rolling bar. It’s said that John Deacon, the Bass Player, had the biggest bar of anyone! Sincerely Original Fat Bottom Girl from Old HB NYC, I’m not Freakin kidding!!!!!! FYI: Fat Bottom Girl and Bicycle Race are 2 songs usually played together.

About the cups...he drank a variety of liquids, from beer to water, to tea...and the concerts were 2-3+ hours long. He also had a habit of walking with a cup in his hand and setting them down other places, too. The rest of the band had their own drinks stashed somewhere near their area of the stage, so those on the piano were all Freddie's.

Thanksgiving is shorter on songs for sure. Fall stuff maybe... But an older "tradition" on the radio was to play longer tracks on the holiday. (Much like watching longer movies with the fam.)
