StezStix Fix?

StezStix Fix?

Күн бұрын

Hello! This is my first attempt at opening up an Apple iPhone. This one is a 6s.
The battery keeps randomly dying and the screen has a crack. Will I be able to get into it and fix it without breaking it?!
The Screen: amzn.to/35LqhdH
The Battery: amzn.to/3qlTWDC
The Delightful Orange Case: amzn.to/3qlTWDC
Hope you enjoy!
Steve
PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though. Please don't copy me - I'm an idiot.

As John Wright has pointed out, if you're doing this yourself, make sure you swap over the original home button or the touch ID won't function! Thanks John! 👍

Dang, why is that? Apple just making stuff harder to replace/repair or is there some good reason for it?

@@5izzy557 its part of the fingerprint id security system. At least thats their official answer. Honestly im skeptical. The guy i spoke to from apple a couple of years ago claimed there is a chip in the fingerprint scanner section that connects to the security system and there is some sort of trust relationship between the chip in the scanner and the security system to stop people from tricking the phone into unlocking by tampering with the fingerprint scanner.

when you fit the new battery it's much easier to put the adhesive strips on the back of the battery first, then peel off the backing and put the battery in place. trying to do it the way you did it you can mess up the strips and make them very difficult to remove if you ever have to get the battery out again.

Better swap the original Home Button from the damaged screen, because it’s paired to the motherboard. Otherwise the fingerprint won’t work anymore

I can't remember exactly how it works but he did hit the home button during setup and it seemed to work . Maybe it is later in the setup that it rejects the "new " home button . Not done one in a while

@@UserUser-ww2nj The Home button works but it won't allow the phone to unlock. Only the original Home button will do that. The directions that come with a complete kit or just the screen usually mention it. Steve's phone was obviously not locked when he pressed and "unlocked" it.

"Why does it looks so easy when you look at it on the Internet?" This is funny because I have a theory that there are certain things that ONLY work on KZbin videos...such as tweaking the potmeter of a disc drive and it magically solves ALL of your disc read errors :D I bet this one only worked because you made a video about it. Anyways, nice fix Steve! :)

Fair play Stez; a fairly easy one. Being Apple, I'm surprised you didn't need to remove circular triangle screw heads to access the rhombus screw heads, in order to remove the actual part you want, held down with trapeze headed left handed screws. 😜
