I followed this recipe exactly --- everyone loved them. The meat eaters in the group even raved about them too. Everybody liked the slight char on the patty because it was similar to the way it is "when you barbecue meat patties." I added this recipe to My Favorites and Crowd Favorites list.

I am smitten with this recipe, which I tweaked by adding in golden raisins and fresh ginger. I also made the patties, then steamed them 20 minutes, cooled and fried. I felt that helped with a flavor that struck me as 'raw'. I've eaten the patties topped with fresh avocado but also look forward to other creamy toppings. Delicious, easy and protein packed! Thank you Will for this recipe and your always mellow videos. I'll be ordering the sushi class!

I cook up the veggies with seasoning and blend them up with the lentils. I pretty much use any veggies I have on hand that need to be used up. Broccoli, peppers, kale, carrots etc. I add some baked potato, flax "egg" and oat flour to help bind the lentils together. Sometimes I make them more Italian flavors, others a classic American breakfast sausage flavor (which is brown sugar and sage + any other spices you prefer). Also, it helps to drain the lentils really well after cooking, makes it easier to form into patties.

These lentil burgers are FANTASTIC, Wil! There are a few things that I can't stand mushy: Pasta, asparagus and veg burgers! I've been searching for a vegan burger that isn't mushy for a very long time! Many promise that they're not mushy, but when you make them, you find that they are! So I'm grateful to have found a recipe that truly does a grand job of mimicking the texture of ground meat. I did add a handful of walnuts and a 1/2 Tbsp of ground flax to the food processor. And a bit of your lovely and fragrant homemade chili oil to the avocado oil I put in the pan! That stuff is great on everything/anything! Thanks for all of your well thought out and easy to follow recipes! I'm really enjoying making and eating them!!😉

Okay, I tried it. Came out pretty good. My burgers fell apart a bit. I had a second go at it and I put them in the freezer before frying. That came out much better. I saw in some other videos the removal of excess water from ingredients, I may have had a bit much water. Anyway once I froze them, then they stayed together. They stuck to the plate in the freezer but I released them by heating the plate a bit with a bit of stray heat from a burner... I'll be dling this often, I think...

Thanks Wil, great recipe, I will definitely try it, but the baked version, as I think it might be a bit healthier. I also have a Vitamix and its great. One favour I would ask, could you please not use avocado oil - the avocado is not environmentally friendly. It consumes far too much water (especially if coming from California). I notice you use it in lots of recipes and it would be great if you could switch to something else. Thanks, M

I love your videos and have been very successful with multiple of them. This time was an absolutely disaster...I don't like fried foods, so I opt for the baked one. They didn't bind and even with parchment paper, they stucked and broke trying to flip them. 😢

Looks like a wonderful recipe. Could I add spinach instead of cilantro. I really don’t like cilantro. Also what is Za tar? Thank you for the inspiring recipe.

I am very impressed with the food processor attachment but can't find it in Australia. Putting my lentils in the oven now. I think they may be a bit moist. Recommendations for next time, if same happens. Maybe Tapioca?

Looks delicious! If you don't like cilantro, what else would you use? Could you leave it out? Thanks for the awesome recipes!

Thank you Shallow, slow frying of patties on a thick bottomed shallow pan works very well. Could you share any other name for za' tar. Thank you

This is a genius idea. It's like how you make falafel except with lentils and cilantro instead of chickpeas and parsley.

A little disappointed in Vitamix right now. They recently recalled one of their attachments due to a defect with the base of the bowl. They're not replacing the base, but sending a repair kit for the paying customer to fix the base. I expected better of them.

Thank you. I have been using lentils in your black bean burger recipe for a year now. Black beans and black lentils. I will be interested in trying this. My kids love them and I am so thankful for your videos.
