I also get horizontal marks across the extruded strip that correspond to the clicks of the handle. These crack open when I bend the strip to form a handle. Very frustrating. 🤬

If I'd have thought of it when making this video, those marks would have been the third commonly asked question! The reason they're there is (probably) because the extruder and clay are moving sideways every time you pull the handle. The solution is to rest the extruder against something solid to stop it from moving. I press mine against a shelf, it keeps the extruder totally still while extruding and generally avoids those marks altogether. You'll have to find something suitable to rest it against in your studio, but a desk/shelf/wall/etc should do the trick.

This is truly so soothing to watch, sit down and relax and watching what kind of magic you can create :) I have been a fan of ceramics myself and was thinking about giving it a shot from time to time, but will see :) thank you for sharing these videos with us and keep up the lovely work. All the best to you.

Great tip! And a very timely one. Just got some new handle dies for my Nidec extruder and now I know how to avoid air bubbles!! Thanks for sharing!

I've been fighting this from day one, 8 years ago. I find if I spray a cooking spray inside tube and on the die I have less dragging also. Thanks.
