And three years later, still loving your method, and still recommending it to everybody that will listen. This allows people like me to quote all their own quilts if they choose to. Can save a lot of money

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. It’s too hard on my back and shoulders to handle a whole quilt on my domestic machine, but I don’t always want sashing. Brilliant!!! Fusible batting is a great idea too. No pins😁

It honestly makes her SO relatable lol. And it's more like you're just hanging out with a friend who's teaching you something rather than a stiff, scripted tutorial.

These videos are so helpful! I was trying to figure out how to QAYG a king sized quilt without sashing or hand sewing and this series has helped the most. Thank you so much!

When attaching more non-fusible batting, you can use fusible tape to put the two pieces of batting together instead of zig-zagging the batting together. So much easier. Just a thought.

I appreciated Candy’s instruction on how to put it together with non fusible batting as well as her fusible. It helps those who may have non fusible batting they want to use. I also appreciated your response. It helps us all to have different ideas that can fit a particular situation we may find ourselves in.

This is fabulous! Exactly what I was looking for. This method never made sense until I saw this video. NOW I can finish my son's quilt. And I LOVE the horn practice in the background. My son's in band, so it brought a smile to my face. I so appreciate your taking the time to create this video. Don't worry about "ums" - I hate when people point that stuff out. Your content is great, and that's what matters!! Thanks, Candy.

I did not have fusible batting when I started my quilt, but it's coming in the mail tomorrow. What I did use was some spray for basting and it worked pretty well. My quilt has extremely large pieces. I did further anchor my first part with some pins and that was helpful.

To all those complaining about the "um's", have you done a video where you have to show your work and explain at the same time. Until you do and you don't have a lot of "um's" be grateful someone is taking the time to show you how do the technique. Also, this is not meant to be a professional presentation and it's free, so........

Thank you for the information. As always, its just what I was looking for. . . . and for those of you with criticism of her think as you go teaching style, I'd suggest you find someone else. Candy is a great source of knowledge that she is generously sharing with you . . . and this is all you can do . . . criticize her style?!?!?!

Very good tutorial. I've nevr made a large quilt small wall hangings or table runners. I'm sure I'd have trouble quilting it if it was too large. What I'm wondering is could you quilt all the columns and then put them all together?
@CynthiaEmbry5 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t it be a cleaner less bulky seam if the batting was cut shorter than the front and back then sewn together .

I wonder if spray basting might eliminate the need for zigzag stitching in non-fusible batting. I'm new to quilt-as-you-go.
@cheryllwaldrop97326 жыл бұрын
Would it work to have a solid piece for the backing, and just keep the portion you are not working with rolled up under the machine arm? or would it get all puckered and distorted if I tried to do it that way? I like the idea of keeping the back mostly unpieced on the quilt I'm working on. I'm only doing a 3x5 toddler quilt, so maybe it would not be such a big deal either way, but the idea of working in columns like you've done appeals to me.

I am sorry, but I am confused. After you trim the side what are you attaching the top and backing to? Do you attach it separately?
@kristensmith90294 жыл бұрын
If using none fusible batting couldn't you just add the batting to the sandwich before you stitch them together? So it would go next row face down. Quilted row face up. Second row backing face up and then second row batting.Sew all that then flip it and just trim the batting down in the seam. Just curious.
@siscarmichael29495 жыл бұрын
Can you also demonstrate some of your stitching as well?
@chareast99976 жыл бұрын
i didn't mind the umms either. but some info on measurements for the seam allowances would have been nice and next time (i hope there are more in the future) maybe smaller blocks. that would allow us to see more of what you're doing and you won't have to stretch so much. lovely tut and quilt top

Ok I'm trying this and I want to know how you got the seams to line up an the quilted section and the row you are adding I've done it like you said and left a portion unquilted but the next row is way longer and if I line up the seams somewhere there will be a bunch of fabric pleated because of the row being quilted already it has shrunk already ...i prob won't get an answer in time so I'll probably have to just quilt my next section and add shashing this method is not working and can't wrap my head around how to fix this issue
@CandyGlendening7 жыл бұрын
I find that pressing the just quilted section relaxes it enough that you can match the seams of the next row, make sure to leave a couple of inches unquilted
