I'm in the minority, but I actually love to cut out quilts! I find fun in the challenge to see how conservative I can be to have as little waste as possible, and to add as much extra possible to my stash (or extra for 'oopsies')

@craftingaplannedlifejoanna9291 I really like the cutting for the piecing. But I really hate squaring up my blocks! 🤣 I don't know why I find it so annoying. But I've learned it's so necessary for the results I want.
@craftingaplannedlifejoanna9291Ай бұрын
@@carlabales5187 YES, squaring up is very important. I've really improved my accuracy the more I square up & check my piece sizes. It's so much more fulfilling when everything fits together & my blocks aren't all wonky.

A lot of people watch KZbin on a television using a Roku or fire device. I use my phone, laptop and my Roku Tv so that’s why I know that some viewers don’t have access to the “contents below“ information. It’s frustrating I’m sure for them if they don’t also have a smart phone or computer. Just a note because many channels refer to the “information below” that some just don’t have.

How did I not know about this company and pre-cut kits? I can not thank you enough for this link and coupon (yay) because this is a huge time saver for weekend sewing when I am starting to work on my Christmas gifts list. I immediately went to the site and found several fabulous kits and precut fabrics to get my Christmas gift marathon started. I always start in August and my weekends get jam packed with projects so it is an enormous time saver (wrist too) if I can just sew and go and knock out a quilt top in one day. I am loving the offerings on the site and bookmarked it for future orders to save time by getting precut quilt kits. Huge thank you for introducing this fantastic product into my quilting world. I love it!! And that spinning/rotating cutting mat is awesome too! Great video with lots of good ideas and information. Thank you again.

The complaints I hear most often from quilters are about basting and binding, not cutting, at least among people who don’t have mobility limitations. The cutting people complain about most is squaring up blocks and units after they have been sewn. I enjoy cutting, and most aspects of quilting. Basting is my nemesis, so I have many of my bigger quilts longarmed. That said, precut kits are an option for those who couldn’t otherwise quilt or for those who do hate the process. I am not willing to pay the upcharge though. I don’t even buy precuts except FQs anymore.

Cutting used to be my LEAST favorite part of the quilting process. Now starching is my least favorite part. While I like working with starched fabric, I really, really dislike the process. I know there are people who love the cutting. Kimberly Jolly, for instance, loves the cutting process. These precut kits look like a winner! My most recent quilt (it’s at the quilter’s!!!! Yay!!!) was a BOM set up for eight months. The pieces were mostly smaller so a bit less cutting. But tricky when you’re nervous about running out of fabric and making mistakes. However, my quilter said it was the prettiest thing I’ve ever done. Quilting is the most creative and enriching process!

April is right. Spit works. However, there is another solution. Mix hydrogen with water. (I use about one to one ratio). My son has a health issue that causes him to bleed all over his clothes and bedding. I also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap but I'm not sure it is necessary for small amounts.

I like the hydrogen peroxide method better, spitting just grosses me out. Thanks for your input, Darlene. I appreciate it and TFW😊👍🏼🌺🐥

I don't mind cutting out quilts. I do know a few quilters who have trouble with cutting, this is a great idea for them. I will pass on the information.

Lol I don't mind cutting at all. But I HATE basting and quilting. Mainly because I don't have a longarm. If I had a longarm I wouldn't hate it so much. LOVE doing the binding. I know....I've been told by other quilters that I'm "weird". I've offered to bind other quilters quilts if they'd do the basting and quilting on mine. LOL

I love binding also Kate, you’re not weird at all. And now with my new binding hack from my last video, I love binding even more than ever. Thanks for watching my videos. I appreciate it.😊🌺🐥

I enjoy cutting must have an oddball quilting gene! Precut kits wouldn’t work for me because I look at patterns as a suggestion and then change them up to make it my own.

Sister! I worked in a hospital and we always used hydrogen peroxide to wash out blood. It works every time even with our open-heart surgery patients who got blood on their huggy bears.❤❤❤

I’m finding out from all the comments and all the nurses Rose that hydrogen peroxide is a great blood remover now I know. However, I was not gonna spit on it, that’s just too gross.TFW Rose❣️👍🏼😊🌺🐥

I agree that is the pits. But I do mine on the long arm, so I kind of cheat and I love it Betty❣️😀😊🌺🐥

Hydrogen peroxide takes out blood. I practiced medicine for 25 years. This works great on any fabric and does not bleach the fabric

Peroxide will take the blood out of white or colored fabric and not bleach out the color.

Saliva removes fresh blood instantly! Does not have to be your saliva on your blood. If you don’t see it to treat it immediately. It will take more saliva to get the blood out. It’s an enzyme in the saliva!

I understand that Glenda, it’s just that I’m a gagger and probably couldn’t spit then scrub it into a blood spot with out losing my cookies. But thank you for your comment😊👍🏼🌺🐥

I am 60 years young, and have arthritis( caused from electrical work not quilting), and have quilted for at least 50 of those years and I have NEVER gotten "sore" cutting out my quilts. If you do you probably need to rethink the way you are cutting and what you are cutting with. What i do hate is precut quilt kits, the pieces are rarely accurate and most precut quilts are not the most attractive of fabrics. But this is just personal opinion and experience.
@sisterchicksquiltingАй бұрын
The precuts in this one was perfect and with their woops policy I think it’s a great deal. Thank you for watching my channel Dee😊👍🏼🌺🐥

My mom used to buy precut quilts in the 80s. That stuff was cut out by scissors with traced cardboard templates! Modern precuts and rotary cutters and mats make it breeze. Basting sucks.
