I want an update to story one so badly. OP picked the worst person imaginable to have as a surrogate as someone else stated it sounds awfully fishy that OP's husband didn't say anything while the surrogate and her mom were making all of these bizarre demands.

@delphinetheworstbladever yes, I feel so bad for OP... that surrogate are worming her way into OP's husband heart and affection using the baby... how he wanted OP to acquiesce to the surrogate when the surrogate overstepped OP's boundaries, shows he is starting to move over to surrogate's side, sadly... even if he draws the line at physically cheating/ending the marriage, OP will always take second place to the baby, and the surrogate, it seems... "selfless act" my a...(!) She is thoroughly doing it for her own selfish reasons..! OP really got played by friend's sister, and maybe friend, too, in which case she would be a "friend". Might have been because friend got pushed into it, but at the very least, she failed OP by not preventing her sister taking advantage of OP.

The one about SIL throwing away formula and wipes: This legit made me so angry. I'm not even a mom. I'm an MA. Breast is best unless mom is depressed. If mom can't produce enough milk to keep her baby fed, that would make even the most mentally stable mom depressed. FED IS BEST. End of story. What SIL did is unforgivable. I personally would make an itemized list and take her to small claims court. There is no one right way to parent and believing that there is, is naive. And for SIL to think her way is the right way is incredibly self-righteous. Absolutely disgusting. Just atrocious behavior.

I had a therapist like the last story. She told 9 year old me that my parent's divorce was my fault and I was (somehow?) purposefully manipulated my parents to fight each other constantly and be in a state of constant drama. She called a 9 year old an attention seeking manipulator, and when I cried, she told me to stop trying to manipulate her with tears. A friend of mine went to the same therapist as well because her sister killed herself in front of her. The therapist told her that she was the reason her sister commited unalive (despite being very close to her sister in an extremely abusive household). My friend almost joined her sister that day. Moral of the story: some therapists are downright deranged and should have never been therapists.
@shannonwolff2599
@shannonwolff2599 2 жыл бұрын
Someone needs to report that therapist to the areas' (state or province) medical board or similar. All professions such as doctors, nurses, dentists, and therapists have a regulatory body overseeing them hopefully to stop people like that one. They are there to maintain the integrity of the profession. Look up the one in the area that therapist works and report them. Even if it has been years it's very possible that this isn't the first complaint and the more people complain the quicker the regulatory body will act. And after, call them once a month for example and ask for updates on your case. It lets them know someone is paying attention. If you don't get anywhere with that I would report it to your state governors office and let them handle it. They have a lot of experience dealing with other governmental organizations and that will certainly light a fire under their collective butts!!

I’m a doula, and the parent of a recently (post) teenage son (and daughter- a powerful woman). You teach your children morals, then you need to trust that you taught them well. If your son is breaking the law, then you need to step in. Otherwise, you need to let them find their way. Using the skills and sense of right and wrong that you taught them they will find their own way, making their own mistakes, but you need to trust them. It’s hard as a parent to watch your child suffer because of their mistake, but that is how they learn and grow, There are more important hills to die on. Women, mothers, you are not only uteruses holding babies. You are powerful human beings who instinctively know what you need. Believe in yourselves, and reach out for the support you deserve.

My girlfriend had a group of friends since middle school. There was one guy in a group of girls. He had asked her out while her and I were just starting to feel out what we wanted us to be. She told him she thought of him as a brother. He said he was cool with it but started calling her ice princess. She'd brush it off saying it was his sense of humor. I didn't find it amusing cause I knew it bothered her. Finally I'd had enough and asked him, "what did you think would happen to your status in the group? You're the brother none of these girls are gonna date your thirsty ass..." He slowly stopped hanging around with us so much. A few thought I was out of line but still understood where I was coming from. My girlfriend just shrugged and said he opened himself up by being petty.

Stepmom has no business looking at the son’s phone. The only reason she wants to look at his phone is to have some sort of control over him. I know OP said she has OCD, but she sounds like she might just be a control freak in general. Most people with OCD don’t feel the need to have that much control over their environment and the individuals in their environment unless they are a severe case.

"Disrespectful" nickname story: The responses to this one show how our culture still, in some way, views women as men's property. If the girlfriend does not feel disrespected, no one's disrespecting her. If you feel bad or offended about it, talk to her like she's a human being. Then, when she tells you it's fine, respect her wishes to be left alone about it. But instead OP took matters into his own hands over an issue that pertains entirely to his girlfriend, as if what they call her is a reflection on him, or, more likely, somehow "disrespects" him by sexualizing HIS sexual object. Let's not defend and validate controlling, possessive, sexist "feelings." Some feelings are, actually, inspired by bigotry in our culture and should be dismissed for what they are.

Are you telling me that OP,OPs Husband,OPs Family, F and S family decited that a single mother who's 4 y/o died in an accident would be a great surrogate and she will have no problem with it? Yes i get that S accepted to be the surrogate so she souldn't be crying about it But imagine you're a Woman who had to raise a kid on your own for 4 years then lose him in an accident and probably still be in grief about it then you have to carry a baby for 9 months only to give it away to someone else (Without even signing a contract) Yes she's definetively overstepping in OP and her Husbands life and that very bad but i think S developed an emotional bond with the baby and sees it as her second chance to be a mother (considering whet i stated above) wich is unfortunate considering she has to give the baby to OP I'm not defending S but im not defending OP either everyone is an Asshole for thinking this woman (S) would be ok with carrying ang giving away her baby after her previos one died (Sorry for the lack of punctuation and bad grammar )

She lost her child, guessing from the general time frame, at least 5 years ago. I’m not saying she’s not grieving, but she didn’t go straight from losing her child to being pregnant. She agreed to it, she appeared healthy, she was recommended by a friend. How is any of that OP’s fault?

It doesn't matter if her child died 4 years ago or 5 years ago or 6 years ago. If her first child died she souldn't be a surrogate ! Everyone in their right mind would tell you a woman who had to go trought that souldn't be a surrogate because they would get too attached to the baby! Yes the S accepted to be a surrogate maybe she wanted to help her friend(OP) become a mother, or god knows why she accepted Yes i get that S is going nuts and is acting weird as fuck and is overstepping in OP's and her Husbands life's and that why S is an a-hole But litteraly everyone os an idiot in this story for not thinking it would be a bad idea to make S a sureogate

The man who has an ex that is pregnant that wants him to help her buy stuff, my ex is going through something similar. They are still together but the paternity is still kind of sketchy, she got him super drunk one night and did the deed without protection and that's how she supposedly got pregnant. His entire family calls bull shit but he is giving her money every week. I told him that all that does is show he is taking responsibility for it which in family court can screw him over. She doesn't want to do a paternity test but he said he won't sign the BC without doing it. Everything seems to point at her trying to trap him but hey, he will throw his money wherever he wants 🤷🏼‍♀️ Refusing to do a paternity test is always a red flag. For the bearded dragon story, I too am impressed at how well the OP handled explaining the situation to both their parents and the sister. Of course the sister didn't mean any harm by it but as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions and meaning no harm doesn't always equal DOING no harm. Especially where an animal is concerned she should have asked about doing that before she did it. Of course I'm not surprised a 15yr old wouldn't think of that but hopefully this teaches her a lesson about things you DON'T know CAN hurt you or someone else!!!

I’m a doula, and highly educated on newborn care, so this story gets on my nerves. Mothers need to find their own way, and be supported in their choices. Perhaps I could support her to exclusively breastfeed, but most women don’t get the initial support that they need, there is a sensitive period beyond which the baby cannot learn to latch. However, ultimately she knows what she and her baby wants and needs. Cloth nappies/diapers are fantastic, but they need a certain amount of dedication and work, not all women are up to it, and you need to pick your battles. There are more important hills to die on! I want to send a hug to all women who make alternative choices that make sense for them and their baby.

I love seeing people in immediate postnatal care like this. I had a nurse who made me cry for choosing formula. We had come to the decision with my psychiatrist, deciding when I'd get back on my medications... I was confident that this was the best path for my family and she was rude, dismissive and downright awful about me not breastfeeding since I should've put babies first instead of being selfish. I did not need that in such a vulnerable time while trying to care for two newborns in a family that had no tips on multiples... luckily, when we had to switch the younger twin to cloth diapers early on, I had a SIL to help me out. that transition was so amazing in comparison to feeding. I promise you, this attitude is not only beautiful but can be lifesaving for certain mental health issues. I went through times I thought my twins were better off without me (I ended up with PPA and that nurse's words replayed in my mind many times)

1) Seems OP's husband should have declined to take her calls or go with her without OP. She is totally crazy and very much overstepping, and you were crazy to not have a legal agreement in place. YTA for getting into this mess. This was not a friend to set them up like this and the surrogate should have zero say in baby name or baby raising. What is going on here that the husband has been going along with this? 2) GF is right, she is an adult, they are her friends, and this was overstepping, YTA. 3) OP's wife is not his son's parent, he has a mother. She needs to back off and stop harassing his son, she has no right to demand answers to intrusive questions. OP YTA for thinking under any circumstances the phone should be accessed by his wife and forNTA, mom is being not protecting his son form his overbearing wife. 4) It is the 'grandma' who is being the AH, no way should he be punished by being abused and endangered by her stupid ideas and lack of respect and regard. He was not being a spoiled brat, she does not deserve an apology, and he does not deserve punishment for sticking up for himself when faced with such crazy entitlement of forget your allergies, it's my food or nothing. She is gawdawful. She embarrassed herself in front of the guests. Like OP's son said, she needs to "get over it". Stop going to her house since she is willing to abuse and harm the kid. 5) They did not have any right to throw away what OP bought and do need to pay for it to be replaced. Honestly, after the refusal I would have contacted the police and filed charges for theft. Not being unreasonable to say they are not welcome back. 6) OP's inheritance, OP's future, NTA to keep it and use it as intended. Ignore and block if necessary this demanding sister and her husband. Never give them anything because it is obvious it would never get paid back. His health is not your responsibility. The friend gave excellent advice. 7) NTA, good for giving real consequences for selfish, disrespectful, and cruel behavior. Don't back down.

Regarding the uncle that told his nephews about their father's passing, he was way out of line. My eldest had a very strong bond with my dad, and when he was suddenly hospitalized and then passed two days later, it took me days before I processed it and was ready to tell her. All she knew was that he had gotten sick and the ambulance took him to the hospital to get better. He passed on a Thursday, and I was only able to tell her on Sunday, and even then, my Mom and brother had to be there with me for support. It's still one of the saddest things I've ever had to do. She was only 7 at that time and loved him so very much. The kids' mom in the story barely had any time to process that her husband died, before she had to face her kids and console them. Yeah, OP's husband was definitely the AH.

Husband that told kids their dad died story: my “friend did this to me, my 9 month old sister was in the hospital with a blood infection and I was a mess (14 at the time) I had a guy friend that had a thing for me but I wasn’t interested and I couldn’t fathom why he thought I would be more interested with my baby sister in the hospital. When she passed my sister who was friends with his older sister called him to see if he could conform me (not sure why to this day as we never hugged or had any sort of physical contact..like not even a hand shake) because my sister had passed. She told him not to tell us and just to meet her and my parents at our place. He rushed over had me come outside, sat me down and told me and I lost it. He then said “it’s okay cause now we can be together since you won’t be stressed out about this anymore” I freaked out on him and never spoke to him again. Ppl that go against others wishes do it to insert themselves into others lives to that they can have control or be special because they change that persons life without consent. It’s disgusting and should never be tolerated or justified. OP needs to think about what he did really hard.

This story, 19:52 , I would have been so petty. It's obvious the mom cares about "impressions" with her guests, so what better thing to do than expose her behaviour in front of the "formal guests". "Mom, I've told you that Joey has allergies and intolerances, so can you just please let him have his plate. Or don't you care about his health?" Exposure for the mom trying to, potentially, put Joey in harms way, and how disrespectful she is being to Joey. By that age he should understand you don't always win and how to be a good sport about it. I would still let him win occasionally so he doesn't get disheartened but not all the time. It's just going to set an awful precedent and cause more problems and entitlement down the road.
