This all happens as a result of narcissism. Essentially, these people are disenfranchised and awkward when they're younger and put up a wall of intellectualism to protect themselves. It's the same thing bullies do: they're hurt and angry, so they focus on something that will make them feel strong and valuable. They try to dwarf others in order to validate their worldview, and if someone challenges their beliefs, the justification is that they are unintelligent. I know people that are 24+ and still cling desperately to this mindset. They claim to be highly intelligent, but apparently they aren't smart enough to evaluate themselves honestly and understand that their perceived intelligence is just a shield. They don't actually care about growing and improving like an intellectual person should, because if they did, they would be far more willing to admit when they are wrong or narrow-minded. Seriously, you want to be smart? Get humble and grow. People who remain narcissistic don't achieve anything because they're constantly acting defensively. Don't focus on proving your intelligence; actually go out there, broaden your perspective, and work towards becoming a better person.

No, it wasn't used correctly. It's an -adjective- adverb that is only meant to be used in relation to the verb "to increase" or synonyms of it. In mathematics, it is solely used to describe a type of increasing. He used it as a synonym to "very". One way to say "I'm getting mad" while trying to sound like a pompous shithead would be "my madness is growing exponentially". Definitely not a synonym for "very". Unless he wanted to use "get" as a synonym for "grow" , I guess. I'm sure he really wanted to sound like a pretentious prick and reached up his ass and pulled the first big word that came to mind.

In my experience "intelligent" people(by numbers) are often not intelligent at all because they show a lack in social intelligence and empathy quiet frequently. However those "soft skills" are highly important in real life : Working as a team,finding friends,creating a pleasant work atmosphere. You can be very intelligent(and some of the people in the reddit posts might actually are) but if you lack the social skills to bring your ideas across in a way that is respectable and understandable for your co-workers its honestly quiet meaningless. The Thinker/Feeler wasn't about intelligence though. It's a psychology thing. According to MBTI, Thinkers (also known as Ts) are people with dominant Te or Ti and inferior Fe or Fi. Feelers have it the other way around. Basically, Ts appear to be cold, and their F is either a helping function or it's straight-up underdeveloped (aka dangerous function). Many of them look down upon emotions, view them as a weakness or simply fail to understand them. Therefore yes, thinking of openly laughing as a weakness WOULD be a Thinker thing. Fs, especially Fes (extroverted feeling), show emotions and either aren't afraid of openly laughing at something or don't realize that if they show their emotions it might be the end of the world. I simplified everything, of course, but I think you get the general idea.

The Infamous Nah its actually really simple. Variable = something that can change its value. So an equation like 5y = 3x is impossible to solve, because we don't know the value of x nor the value of y. ( Actually it's possible to find x and y, only if you have another equation, and we call that a system of equations but in this case it's impossible to make one. ) That's all about it. 4:25 everything is wrong with this. 1. You can't calculate the volume of a pillar based on only its width. Even if he used the 1m width as scale to find out the height, there's no real way to account for the camera perspective and the entire pillar isn't in the shot 2. You can't get the strength of the pillar from the volume, unless you know exactly what materials it's made of 3. The pillar obviously isn't holding up its maximum strength, that would be extremely unsafe, so he has no way of figuring out the weight of all the floors above 4. You can't do anything with this information because not all of the weight of all the floors is resting on that one pillar 5. You would have no way of knowing how much of that weight is comprised of people and how much isn't, so you couldn't divide that by the avg weight of a human to get how many people are in the building So yeah, he didn't calculate that. Because it would've been impossible, he would've figured out how stupid his comment sounded, and because if he did, he would've showed his work or at least said how many people he thought were in the building

I like you and your videos. About intelligence, meh...age and life experience can compensate for an average IQ. I am not a brain at all but I am holding a 4.0 in graduate school because most of what they are teaching in social work is common sense (to this senior citizen) or I have lived through something that they are teaching. I just have to memorize the psychological terms that go with the situation.

YourWorstNigh Yeah, if you put any belief behind IQ tests. Great measurement of memorized information and taking standardized tests and that's about it. Growing up, a child psychologist tested me for her schooling; 160. And these people that take it seriously make me cringe. Back then I thought the tests were a game that ended in ice cream and thought "neat!" at the results. Because in the end, that's all those tests are, a stupid fucking game.

IQ measures general intelligence, it doesn't really measure skills in certain areas. Two people with the same IQ may excel in completely different areas. For example, I know my IQ is 163 and a friend of mine has an IQ of 160, so basically no difference. But despite this, I do very well with language and writing while he thrives with math and physics- two subjects that I always passed but had to work very, very hard at to understand even on a basic level. So you can use IQ as a baseline of general intelligence, but it can't measure the work you put in or the time you take to learn new things. My IQ may be high, but it's not what made me sit down and learn Chinese, I did that myself. My friend's IQ may be high, but that's not what made him pay attention in class.
