I can kind of understand the mother's confusion in the tour guide story. I mean, why would they leave a decision that important up to teachers, the admissions board, the dean of admissions or the dean of the school? No, no, no. A decision of that importance can, and should, only be handled by the tour guide. 😂😂😂

It is ok to try to find why... otherwise, how do you do better next time? But call the admission service... don't try to ambush somebody. At max, she should just has ask for number or a specific person to call. Even if OP had a word to say in the decision, if it is a so reputable school, they probably receive ten times the number of application vs what they need. I would probably consider OP very good to remember all the accepted. And if she remember a rejected name and reason, it's probably not good news for the applicant : it means it was very bad or particular! But I guess the mom is used to just walk over people until she get what she is asking for / get answer. She might actually be rich.

Story 2. The One thing a real millionaire will ever admit in public is that they are a millionaire. I worked for a family of millionaires and they don't even dress that much better than everyone else. They had a 20 car garage of expensive cars, but they never drove anything other than a Lexus. They also gave so much money to the local college that their kids didn't even have to apply for acceptance.

That's the thing, idk what school this was, but if any of what she said were true, that her daughter had near perfect ACT scores & they were millionaires then she would've been accepted into the school. Also anyone who truly believes that student giving the university tour has anything to do with admissions probably isn't intelligent enough to even get into their local community college. Not hating on community colleges, I know they have some good ones. I just know they're easier to gain admission to than a 4yr university

Saying “I’m a millionaire,” in this kind of situation, is the same as saying “I know the owner.” 99% of the time, it’s completely false. But I would love to hear if OP asked if any complaints about her not accepting someone to the college were made, and the the admissions department response was. I bet if Karen did complain about her precious daughter being excluded, that the admissions office laughed in her face. 😂

About the restaurant story: everyday criminals aren’t that smart. I speak from the experience of a friend: they had an acquaintance who was a petty criminal, on the lam from another state, who drove a flashy car that would be noticed by cops, with an out-of-state license plate, and then committed a couple of violent crimes, got arrested, and sent back to the state he came from. He wasn’t smart enough to not commit more crimes. 🤷‍♀️

Story 3: OP should have made a point of mentioning the guy was at the car rental service and not even at an airline desk. The guy probably got fired anyway but that really would have cemented the guy's loss of his job. Story 4: If the chicken really was undercooked (it wasn't, and the context of the story makes that very clear), that's a legitimate "you can put people in hospital and potentially kill them" problem, so getting upset about it is valid. When I was a kid, my parents had to yell at a staff member in a (very expensive) restaurant over a similar issue with a half-cooked piece of fish.

Just for some added info, in the last story, the place the OP works at is called a "juvenile preplacement facility." Actually millionaires are not necessarily THAT rich. All that means is that you have $1,000,000 in the bank. I suspect that a lot of upper married couples where both spouses work and at least one has a good corporate job would have $1,000,000 in their combined retirement accounts. That doesn't mean that they could justify spending over $100,000 on a car. Inflation has made being a millionaire less of a flex than it used to be.

Story #2: I used to do alumni interviews for my university... meaning that I *did* have a say in admissions decisions. The alumni interviewer absolutely should not have said anything about what her chances supposedly were. I bet that, if that happened at all (and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it never did and they were just lying about it) it was simply the interviewer's way of getting the demonic duo of mother and daughter off their back, but this is part of why you don't give the kids you interview any information on how you're going to report on them, or what you think their odds are... because it's effectively throwing someone else under a bus, by raising expectations that the other folks will have to puncture.

As someone who typically flies out of the Atlanta Airport, the idea of a one-room airport is quite shocking to me. Like, what do you mean you don’t have to spend an hour finding the parking spot you paid for and taking a shuttle to the airport entrance, which isn’t even on the same property, then spend over an hour going through TSA and taking a literal train to the gate because we’ve created such a monstrosity of airport!? I love the idea that the daughter didn't make it because the Only person they talked to was OP, who is a tour guide, who has nothing to do with accepting the daughter... so they simply didn't talk to who they were supposed to talk to that day

If someone ever insists to me that I work at a place that I don't work at after having told them that I don't work there & then proceeds to follow it up with the "do I look stupid" I will gladly let them know that no they didn't in fact look stupid until they opened their mouth that is & now they not only look stupid, but sound stupid as well. Ask for the truth, the truth u shall get

I have had the worst day, and all I can think is one day these employee-grabbing idiots are going to grab someone like me having a bad day and they are going to get a full show, with lights, music, special effects, and a banger finale. Remember you never know where someone is in their head, and it’s probably best not to risk triggering an actual mental health crisis.

Story 4 : especially as being nice and compasionate (I know that it's rush hour and you're probably overworked but I think something went a little wrong with my meal...) the staff is usually sooooooooo nice and kind (we got double dessert for a mussle gone bad once I mean it wasn't a big deal how were they supposed to know. I just had put it aside and wanted to explain why before anyone panic or smthg....)

If Karen really was a millionaire, she would have made her donations to the school long before her daughter applied. She wouldn't have needed to "promise" them, which was a lie anyway.

Story 4. I've seen something like this story before but got worse. It end with the man being arrest for assult of the teenage applying for job other employees and customers and destroying things within the restaurant. Luckly two off duty police officers were eating lunch there at the time to stop this guy or it could have been even worse due to him threating to go to his car and come back with gun. All this just to get free food cost him his freedom.

... millionaire is not as rich as you'd think. My folks are millionaires, they have no debts and own their own house, but the cars are still all used except the fun hot rod, they have a few thousand to splurge with, and they still have to save to save for major buys like furniture or appliances. Millionaires tend to be rather nondescript and humble, it's those richer who tend to flash the cash. Not much of a brag on Karen's part and very likely untrue

On story 4: I wonder if the thighs weren't 'popped. That can make the chicken look undercooked, even raw, but it would be perfectly safe to eat. That guy was still very rude though; yes, ask for a manager if you think you ate raw food, but don't be a dick. And for the love of all things Holy, keep your hands to yourself!

I would have said okay first of all you need to let me talk. Did you come here and get a plane from me or a car. A car that means I work for the car rental company not the airline. Second of all when you came here sir I said you needed to go over and get your stuff checked in they're closing soon. There was an announcement that you had 5 minutes before they closed. It is not our rule it is the FAA rule if you have a problem please get in contact with the FAA
