@Hallison Michel If you care solely for the racing and the feel it gives you, its by no mean a bad game. The racing "feel" has always been a strength in Codemasters games. The problem with the new game is how "empty" it is. The career mode is just a list put together with almost no structure, the teammates feel NOWHERE near as important as they did in the original game, content is a bit sparse here and there, and its another repeat of that awful "seasonal" DLC trend which usually consists of taking content from previous games and re-adding them but putting them behind a paywall. Also the mutliplayer leaves a lot to be desired. It left me with a bad taste and made me put off finishing the game for LPing it.

The teammates were a bit hit or miss, but you didn't mention how each teammate has their own specialty, such as touring car, tuner, etc. So asking an open wheeler driver to do a drift event (for example) would never go down well! Also, I like the idea of signing up contract for one of the ten teams in the game based on your previous season's performance, where if you perform good last season, midfield and front-pack teams would offer you a seat for the upcoming season, with a preset teammate accompanying you. Not only that, this game also introduces the ability to pass a message on the radio to check your car condition, event rival position, your current position, your teammate's position, as well as the ability to tell them to push or defend the position, something that the first GRID game didn't have, where you could only pray that he doesn't make any mistake to bring home some points for your team.

7:22 apart from a few drivers like tom rockford (for a while), the key to successful teammates is to keep swapping them based on their specialty for the most unlocked events of the same discipline/specialty; so like early in the game get gianni fazio since he doesnt charge for signing, race with him only in pro tuned (his specialty) till you win them all and then take on a different discipline only, at this point hire a new team mate that specializes in that discipline; this is how team progression was done in this game since you have 5-6 different disciplines for 2-3 types of cars (gt1, gt2, prototype, lmp1, lmp2, endurance) and a team mate that specializes in one of those disciplines will do badly in the others even though theyre pretty much the same type of cars

The reason why real life races aren't done in reverse are mostly for safety reasons. Since corners are taken in reverse, so does the angle of a potential crash change. Most, if not all, circuits are designed in such a way to only support gravel pits and such from driving the circuit in one way. Driving in reverse would require a massive physical reconstruction, and putting down new gravel pits and other safety things. Some tracks even make it impossible to do so, due to public roads being in the way around the circuits, preventing the construction of new gravel pits. Or even roads of the circuit itself blocking the position of where a new gravel pit would have to be made.

It's not realist, it has this dark aura I love so much but most people hate and doesn't feature as many cars as I wanted but has my favorite one (NSX) and to me this is more than enough. This game changed the way I saw racing games forever and is a spectacle of a title that I've played a lot on every platform. 1:57 found good comment on steam about this: "Companies who release new games with the exact same title as an earlier game should be ashamed of themselves. When a company does this, they effectively remove the earlier game from existence. When a person says "GRID", how do you know what game he's referring to? Well, if you're the company, you want them to mean the newest game--that's the only game that exists as far as they are concerned. It's a disgusting, greed-borne tactic to increase sales, and shows that the decision makers have no passion or respect for the games that created the success in the first place. When companies do this, we have only one response: It's not Tomb Raider, it's Tomb Raider 2013. It's not Battlefront, it's Battlefront 2015. It's not DOOM, it's DOOM 2016. It's not Hitman, it's Hitman 2016. It's not Prey, it's Prey 2017. It's not GRID, it's GRID 2019."

There’s a magic to this game’s physics that are obviously arcade but there’s a definite reward for driving as if you were playing a simulation game taking proper racing lines and braking at optimal points as well as how much throttle you apply mid corner and exiting the corner. I feel as though it was designed to act similar to a simulation game but adjusted the system to make it (very) forgiving as if every car in the game would drive as they would in real life but exponentially better (acceleration, braking, handling, oversteer/understeer, etc). Phenomenal design and very fun to brand newcomers and veterans of the racing game genre. It’s up there in my top racing games of all time. This is my favorite racing car game ever. I think that the author of the video didn't mentioned what is, in my opinion, the most impressive thing in this game: the MUSIC...or better, the DYNAMIC MUSIC system ! Unfortunately this system is available in the game only during the head-to-head racing with Ravenwest once you finish a tier of challenges (there are only 10 in the whole game)...but is definitely worth experiencing! The faster you go, the more the volume pumps-up during those rare races. If you do an accident and you risk to loose concentration, the music goes quiter, waiting for you to catch up. Once you are closer to your adversary, the rhythm and basses kicks on harder and other instruments adds. It's something really exciting!!! If you want to see what I'm talking about, you can check my channel, I have some videos in one of my playlists.

The best Grid game by far. My first next gen racing experience. Play it time to time on my PS3.

I dont want to go back and be disappointed by this game but in my memory, it was perfect. Different race types that were all enjoyable, an awesome mox of fun and challenging. Drifting that really felt like you were throwing the car's weight into each corner and great damage to cars for the time.

I would Say Grid is the Closest thing to perfect racing game that you'll ever get. I wish Grid 2008 had modding community. The game could use an ENB and some track mods with better drift physics.

Best menu music of any Codemasters game. With TOCA 2 being a close 2nd.

Hey man you're not alone stay retro, your friends are the ones missing out. Many new games are also great but there's no reason not to also enjoy past classics alongside them.

Same here man. Just got Daytona USA 1/2 via emulator on my PC and just playing the fuck out of em. Also my local arcade have San Francisco Rush 2049 and holy moly it's amazing. Just kept playing the game for hours and seem to be no one is interested in it... Hopefully it goes for sale. I was even shocked that game cabinet had a clutch pedals as well!

I got this for free on humble bundle a few years back. To this day it has the best vehicle handling and physics of any game I’ve ever played. Realistic, Diverse and Challenging, yet arcadey enough that it doesn’t punish you for playing it. I’m especially a fan of the collision physics which lets the cars realistically bump and trade paint, unlike forza which to this day has them bounce and ricochet off eachother like a a rubber blowing ball being thrown down a lane with gutter guards.

To be fair, the only Grid game I got into was Grid: Autosport. I was browsing through the in-game store and saw it. I enjoyed it the most. I only played Grid 2 on ps now for few days but never renewed it. I didn’t know TOCA was a thing before Grid. I’m on the fence on buying the reboot.

Hello! Will you do a Grid Autosport review please? Really interesting how it would compare to other of it's competitors like NFS Shift or even Race Driver Grid

You should really try DiRT Rally 1. For me it was the turning poing for rally games. It really proves how good is the EGO engine and how passionate Codemasters used to be. For me, one of the best games of this generation!

If you can get a legit Steam key, or buy it from someone else who still has a gift copy, you can still download it from Steam.

if you guys get your hands on the arcade version it's really good and really fair. You can keep playing if you keep winning, I played for about an hour with a single credit since I was pretty well versed on the tracks and handling.
