I do love they "cut and cover" lines. Bigger loading gauge and really interesting stations. I would often go a less direct route just to ride on the Met and District. Back in the 60s, if you were riding the last train, you might even see a steam hauled works train. Result! Ta G&V.
@ElvenSpellmaker4 жыл бұрын
I really dislike the lines because they're always delayed due to old signals (usually Edgware Road which dates back to 1926!) and they go so much slower than other lines.
@ashleyw13934 жыл бұрын

Hi Geoff - at the start of this, on the platform of Bond Street, there's a door behind you on the opposite side of the tunnel from the platform, the floor of which is couple of inches above the height of the rails and below platform level. What on Earth is that doing there?! I seem to remember they only crop up at a few platforms on the westbound branch of the Central Line between Bond Street and perhaps Holland Park? I've puzzled over them before, but no one seems to see them or know what they're for. Any ideas?
@proper_charlie4 жыл бұрын
@@OneKnifeYeHand Quite probably. Given the stations I think these doors appear at were all part of the original stretch of the Central Line, I would guess they were built for some purpose, possibly now forgotten and now are left empty, because, let's face it, getting to that door is going to contravene several health and safety policies. I was looking at the TfL station diagrams to see if they were marked on them. They're not and nor do they seem to obviously connect to any other part of the station. I'm not even certain they're all on the westbound platforms at those stations, but I am sure the doors of mystery appear at more than one station on that stretch of the Central Line.

When my family visited London in 2019, we stayed in a hotel right between Paddington and Lancaster Gate. This gave us plenty of options for getting around. If we needed to get to, say, Tottenham Court Road, we would walk to Lancaster Gate station and get the Central line train. On the other hand, if we needed to get to King's Cross, we would walk to Paddington and get the Circle or City & Hammersmith line train.

For the Victoria, Warren Street to Euston?
@zork9994 жыл бұрын
If you are coming in on a Circle, etc train to Euston Square then comparing Euston to Warren Street would be a fair comparison. IIRC there is supposed to be a direct connection between Euston Sq and Euston soon without having to get out and walk aboveground. If they are starting from a Victoria Line train then the person that stays on will win easily. Probably the same if they start on a Northern Line train since the interchange at Euston is an easy one IIRC.
