Race to World First Recap: Day 1, First Mythic Bosses Go Down!

In today's Daily Recap, Dratnos and Tettles go over everything that happened on the first day of the Race to World First (counting from the NA reset, not much has yet happened for the EU guilds!)
The First 4 bosses of the raid fell in a single pull each to Liquid, though other guilds have encountered a bit more difficulty, and it's likely that Method and Echo will also be able to take these out without too much difficulty.
There have also been several specs showing up in the race that have been unexpected, as well as several that were more expected. Some in the first category include Devastation Evoker and Destruction Warlock, while the second includes Fury Warrior and Arcane Mage (at least before Burden of Power was bugged in the middle of the day).
Splits have also been a feature of the first day of Mythic Week, though unlike Heroic week they've been more surgically targetted at specific bosses and items, and they are expected to wrap up early into Day 2 for Liquid and potentially even all get done on the longer EU Day 1 for Method and Echo.
Tomorrow it will be interesting to see whether 0, 1, or 2 more bosses have gone down - Dratnos and Tettles think the smart money is on 2 or maybe 1, with 0 being a shocking outcome. What do you think?

Destro is nasty on rash because of shadowburn. If anybody actually watched kalamazis videos they knew this WAY ahead of time. Destro wasnt getting played cuz of tuning but after buffs it ended up equal to demo which was VERY close to aff already... which meant long execution fights were massively in destros favor for single target heavy fights due to shadowburn being disgusting. It makes a lot of sense destro is being played.

As far as the unholy on sikran goes, after the fight max went "are you playing unholy? Wtf?" So i dont think that one was planned super hard

I think the logic behind that decision is because the boss has a lot of movement mechanics on mythic and there's high chance that you couldn't keep your breath rolling as long as other bosses. Also I'm probably chatting shit so yeah...

To me Destro being the spec to play for liquid in the raid is most surprising. All the other specs performed decent to good in Sims etc. Destro was supposed to be the lowest of the warlock specs and thd just took a big old dump all over the tier list makers. Good to see all three specs are viable though

People need to watch kalamazi more. He talked about destros buff bringing them almost equal to the other 2 specs and he previously talked about how broken shadowburn damage is especially for execute phases which are long in mythic prog. Destro was clearly a good choice post-buff but nobody was 5 heading it i guess

The Burden of Power buff from their Sunfury hero talents sometimes doesnt activate at all, which is a potentially big loss in damage for Arcane.

Does anyone else cover the race? Because these guys ramble a lot with little useful information. I want to know which bosses are down, who is 1st, 2nd etc so far, what comps were used and how each spec performed. I don’t care for the chatter. I don’t give a rat’s tail about their methods - it’s always the same semi-cheating that no normal players can replicate, so who cares?

its a day 1 NA recap which means they cant really do much about who is in the lead because surprise surprise its Liquid. Maybe future ones will have more of what you're after, but right now all there really is to talk about is their set up and methods. I'll do the recap you desire though: Liquid one shot the first 4 bosses and are now at a harder boss so are doing the gearing they need to do this week. Echo woke up
