My wife and I ordered a 2022 challenger August 2022. Just got our car at the end of October 2023. Very happy with the quality and ride. We visited High springs, FL also. I was a little shocked to see this too, however, this is a very special car, even moreso with the convertible modification. The owner is making it his own. What better person to do it than the one who owns the business? He believes in his work, so much so, to do it on his very own Demon 170. For that, I give him props!

@@SovereignKnight74 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing at first but he definitely believes in his work and after seeing what goes into it I can see why. There was a reason his company got the contract from Dodge to do this, top notch work indeed. 👍

Cool, I was hoping somebody would cover this process.I’m not a big convertible guy either but I have to admit the challenger looks great as one.The 70 71 was a great looker too.The a pillar is angled right so that you don’t get that too tall A pillar the first fox body Mustang had.And no huge folded top/ tonneau cover that even Rolls Royce couldn’t seem to accomplish.Besides now you finally get a pillar less hardtop look we should’ve got from the beginning.A convertible Demon 170…A gutsy move!

Just imagine what a mint condition Demon 170 drop top will be worth in 25 years? This is awesome! An original 69 Trans Am RA IV vert is a million dollar ride today. A 170 vert is an insane investment! Much respect!!!
@ex.spaceshuttle.worker7 ай бұрын
Your statement of a 69 Trans Am Ram Air IV convertible is worth a million dollars is only partially true. There were NO ram air IV convertibles ordered and built. They were All Ram Air IIIs. Google it. Sorry if I'm splitting hairs. But yes they are worth about a million dollars each because there were only eight convertibles made in 69 from the factory. I also disagree that it's going to increase in value like the Trans Am convertible because of rarity. The eight that were made were built at the factory. The demon 170s are being converted into convertibles not by Dodge but by an aftermarket company. So theoretically all the demon 170s could be made into a convertible. Since these are not Factory convertibles.. So based on your theory you could take a 69 Trans Am hardtop and convert it into a convertible but that would not increase the value to a Trans Am convertible to million-dollar status. Just my opinion no disrespect to your opinion. Now that Demon 170 convertible does look awesome and the quality looks outstanding. And it would make it more desirable and worth more but not like the 69 Trans Am convertible status

I would never do that to my car (not a convertible guy) and especially a Demon-170, but it's his car and it's factory approved so the value is still there. When you think about it, the most valuable musclecars in the past are the low number convertible ones.

I think it looks sick, it’s his car to each their own, obviously, a lot of people like it. There was a lot of cars waiting, if I lived in Florida, I would consider it on my hellcat, I had no idea there was that much that went into making a car a convertible that is insane, $24,000 plus you’d have to get it shipped there and back that’s a lot of money but it would be nice depending on where you live, I live in California so I could use it a lot more, great video!

As a kid (a long time ago!😏) I always thought a convertible "Drop top" would be lighter than a comparable HT or Coupe but my brother, who is ten years older than I am and is who got me hooked on old Mopar muscle, explained to me as a teen that by the time you figure the weight of the heavy canvas top fabric, the heavy steel cross supports and braces that help hold the top's proper shape but be allowed it to fold down along with the extra chassis bracing added to make up for no permanant top structure and things like a roll bar that I would not be without on a convertible, the total weight is much more than say a HT (hard top) sometimes by several hundred pounds. Now if you were to leave everything for the convertible top off, including the top itself and incorporated a well designed 8 or 10 point lightweight chromoly roll cage to help with chassis stiffness, you might be able to save considerable weight! You wouldn't be allowed to race in any kind of stock class races but it would still be a fun experiment!
@comicrandomness32899 ай бұрын
Yeah but convertibles are more fun. I own a convertible mustang and everyone who has ridden in or driven my car would have a smile on their face. I live in southern California and that weather helps. Fun is greater than speed in my opinion. I can have fun cruising, speedsters need a track day.

Awesome concept and craftsmanship demo. Love to watch, but highly unlikely to have done on a car I own. Might consider after viewing before/after tech data/specs on vehicle rigidity, vibration, strength. Same for convertible top system duty cycle and long term (10+ yrs) reliability of convertible mechanism, water control design, and rust/mold prevention. Personal reticence aside, superb demo of fine workmanship.

People don't understand, the Challenger is a true coupe. A 2 door coupe. A coupe doesn't have rear windows, they just don't (unless you so this) so if you want rear windows, buy a sedan. 😊 At least it has a parade boot. The cover that goes over the top when its down (so someone can sit on it during a parade) which really protects and gives a clean, finished look to the top. My '95 GTC has one, they're great. Helps keep the top from collecting water/mold if left down a long time, too. 😊

Crazy on how many cars they have there. What is the turnaround on the cars. My wife loves convertibles. We have rented mustang convertibles but I just don't like the feel when driving it. They shake on acceleration while turning. I hope the challenger doesn't have that shake. Another great video Racer X. Maybe my wife would let me get a convertible challenger for her. But it would be an RT. I really would rather have the charger. Lol

Sorry, but I think it looks terrible. The large raised lip around the back looks anything but factory and the way the top meets the A pillar on the side does not flow well. Do you actually have to unlock the top manually, put the windows down, then put the top down and you paid $24,000 extra. On the other hand it looks like a lot of Challenger owners/buyers think it's worth it even if it'll mean losing at the strip.

About 30 years ago at a coin-op car wash I came across a '70 Hemi 'Cuda convertible in Plum Purple with white top and interior and gun slinger stick shift. The guy wanted $16K and unfortunately I did not have that kind of spare change at the time. About 10-15 years later they were already hitting over $100K. To be honest I want nothing to do with any new vehicle just because of all the computer crap that can go bad. I'm happy with my '05 Rumble Bee and still gets lot of compliments to this day.
@nathanielmoore879 ай бұрын
For all the haters out there, yeah, a DC170 convertible makes no sense at all, but before you start spitting, just remember the handful of 1970-71 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles built. Those are million dollar machines now and I wouldn't be surprised if the handful of DC170 convertibles being built are held up on the same pedestal someday, especially since they have the blessing of Dodge.
