yup. Cat owner here. We've had to rearrange stuff and put stuff in different places so that our cat won't eat/attempt to eat them/knock them off of the surface they're on. We also got a water fountain thingy because he always pushed the water dish around to make it move to drink it, so it always got on the floor everywhere, and we tried to put it on a tray, that didn't work, so we gave in and got him a water fountain thingy to drink from.

unless you're a tiger mom who's only had dogs before (aka me). I strictly trained my cat basically like a dog and she never jumps on tables/counters, only eats what is in her bowl (even if you literally try and hand-feed her something, she will refuse), comes when called, etc. Currently in the process of training her to walk beside me when she goes on walks. She does it most of the time unless she gets distracted/startled by something. When I tell her off, she immediately stops, and either lays down (and i'll pick her up) or goes into her 'timeout' room herself and stays in there silently until timeout is over.

Food was the first good memory he made with Rachel and Jun when they fed him their leftover hotdogs on their trip back from Mt Fuji (since he was assumably abandoned by his last owner?), so he is understandably obsessed with food. To anybody asking if this might work for your cats, here’s my experience. We have 2 cats, and one of them was super skittish. It took him a long time to get used to it and we had several setbacks with him. But with persistence and patience, and 6 months, our boys use them without problems. We did have to use the included tags because their microchips migrated away from their necks and wasn’t strong enough to reliably open the feeder. Edited a month later to add: recently one of our boys had an upset stomach and because of these bowls we were able to see exactly how much he was eating which became a surprise benefit we never had with free feeding. I love these bowls and the boys are doing well with them too!

I got one of these for our kitten, to keep the adult cats out of her food. She learned it quickly. Our 2 adults now have a rotation auto feeder and that keeps them happily focused on their own food. With 5 small meals a day, they are less likely to steal. The greedy cat's feeder is set to rotate 1 min before the other. I think we finally have food peace!

Look at the way the lid folds. The lid folds, rather than opens straight. The intruder mode will help, but honestly the cats will still try. And with the intelligence pokie shows, even with a more advanced unit he will probably spill the food.

We got a microchip feeder for 3 cats, one an aggressive feeder. The aggressive feeder learned to camp on the other cats' feeders and wait until they started feeding. Then he'd butt them out of the way while the feeder was open and chow down.

If you have a single cat, it should work fine, as it was designed.

Hearing that made me think of my own cats. I have two cats that were strays as well before we adopted them. They're always eager for food. Whenever we feed them, they scarf down their meal so quickly and after like an hour, they're hungry again. I would put the chip on one of the rings they used to keep the box closed, then get a measuring scoop with a hole at the end of the handle and put the chip on the scoop which would be kept in the cat-proof cat food storage container. That way the scoop would conveniently open the food dish and keeping it in the food storage container would lessen the potential of the chip being lost..or stolen by Poki.
