@RADGarage5 жыл бұрын
R I taped off the edge of the 3M PPF on the hood because I find polish gets in there and is tricky to remove when I wipe it down. Otherwise, the tape is applied to protect plastic and porous trim that can become scuffed by polisher.

I loved this video... One question...you didn't use claybar before polishing?
@RADGarage6 жыл бұрын
It's almost a year since this one, so my memory has faded but I'm pretty sure I did a patch and wasn't picking anything up so I went straight to polish. I'm not sure if that is a huge faux pas, but I have skipped that stage on my own car a few times because the clay wasn't netting anything.

Looks awesome and great video editing! But I would have finished that job with at least a quality sealant
@RADGarage5 жыл бұрын
Ryan Costa Thanks. My buddy doesn’t care too much for this car so I didn’t sweat the protection step too much since he subjects it to swirl-inducing automated washes. I could have applied Menzerna/Jescar PowerLock but opted instead for the wax.

Johnathon Melin With the RaceDeck, the water is a non-issue. It flows beneath the tiles. The pad is pitched to the front so water drains out the front.

Why do you wash the car after polishing it instead of just using IPA?
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
I find doing a manual wipe down with an IPA or coating prep spray to be frustrating, because I inevitably miss some dust from the polish while I'm applying protection. By doing a full wash, I'm assured I won't run into any polish dust or residue, especially in the cracks. Hope that answer makes sense.

I see you use wax on most of your details. I too am a fan of "old school" waxes using P21S, Collinite Super Double Coat, Collinite 845 Insulator Wax, and also Jescar Powerlock sealant as well. Have you tried any of the newer Si02 infused Hybrid Ceramic Waxes yet? I've heard pretty good things about them but haven't made the jump over quite yet. Want to get one very soon and give it a go as the durability is supposed to be excellent and they are very easy to use like a paste wax.

Can’t understand why detailers do the wheels before the body? Surely the dirt from the exterior will contaminate your lovely clean wheels
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
The reason I do the wheels first is because if I do the body first and then the wheels it takes me about an hour to do the wheels so for that entire time the body remains wet and I don’t like my water to dry on the car.
