I actually gave it some thought to the idea of "A game made for everyone" and I thought of no game that fits that criteria. Even Quantum's favorite Mario Kart game isn't "Made for everyone" since it's a driving kart game. I did end up coming to the conclusion that Elder Scrolls Online falls into that criteria of "Game made for everyone", since I keep hearing people describe it as such... But it's such an awfully boring game that is so easy that even a half-dead goldfish could get to level 50.

Marketing doesn't work like that Quantum TV, games are not made for everyone. Every game is made for a specific demographic, and they try to market to that demographic as best they can. If they tried to market to everyone, then no one would be interested in it enough for it to do as well as it could have if it were made to appeal to a narrower market. Saying that something "isn't for everyone" isn't a condemnation of it, it's just an acknowledgement of the reality that not everyone will be interested in it.

The funniest part to me is Girlfriend Reviews (a girlfriend who “reviews what it’s like living with someone who plays” whatever game is the subject of the video) uploaded a video on Elden Ring where the girlfriend asked to play their review copy, which was also the first From Soft game she’d ever played. They specifically praised the game for being incredibly accommodating to new players, letting anyone who’s struggling against a wall step back and explore in a different direction, which lets them practice and get better at their own pace, and includes more features than ever to help support players who aren’t seasoned veterans. Clearly, Quantum’s experience was quite different.

I even typed this out on one of his videos and he removed it. This is copy pasted. Just to preface, Elden Ring is NOT a masterpiece. Not yet anyway, but the game is specifically designed with the old school game mentality of letting you figure things out for yourself. But with Elden Ring they give you a lot of handholding but it's honestly very easy to miss or dismiss as dialogue can be really good it's hard to pay attention. The game doesn't need to be perfect, but it has the potential to be if they changed a few things. I don't think you're review had ill intent, you just aren't good at the game which is understandable you're probably new to Souls Bourne style games. A lot of people compared it to Breath of the Wild or Skyrim (i guess) but isn't like those games. Similar is some fashion but not always 100% identical. It's similar to Dark Souls but isn't exactly Dark Souls. I get you probably got frustrated with the game and the community but I'm here to tell you the toxicity you've experienced is in almost every community. You say something bad about Valorant? A bunch of angry feminists attack you on Twitter. Say something bad about Call of Duty? Hate comments about your lack of skill. It's not just an "Elden Ring" issue, it's a people issue. I don't think you should just quit on the game just cause it's too hard or because someone said you suck. You should stop listening to that soft voice in your head and just push ahead and beat the game. Experience that hardship and overcoming obstacles as only the strong willed succeed in Elden Ring. I know you're review wasn't ill intended, but to call it honest when it was fueled by anger is in my opinion disingenuous. You should've stuck with the game and pushed through the game more for a better idea of what the game is about and delivering a good review. Actually, crazily enough, there's controllers and systems available that make gaming accessible to amputees, paraplegics, quadriplegics, etc. nowadays. It's fascinating to watch double-amputees playing games with controllers designed for their feet (And many double amputees without arms have learned to write with their feet as well).

Anybody who says "A game that isn't made for everybody shouldn't be made at all" unironically, is a fool. As you cannot please literally everybody, it is impossible to make a game for everybody. That is a development pit of doom. He can dislike it if he wishes, but games have to be made for an audience. A game made to fit everybody is a game that doesn't know what it is and is too busy to have an identity. We love games because of the unique identity they create in the form of a fictional world, each with their own rules and depth. By the way, Rags, we missed you.

Well, shit, if that holds true then I guess Call of Duty, Battlefield, racing games, sports games, etc. shouldn't exist because I as an individual don't like them, and therefore they're not for everyone. In all seriousness, though, games are a creative work at the whim of the creator, not the consumer. The consumer is not entitled to influencing the creator in terms of their creative work. There are plenty of games that are more accessible for "Games Journalists", and then there's games for people who can tackle a challenge from the mindset of "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome". Practice, adaptation, perseverance, and developing one's familiarity with the game and mechanics are all part of all games, some games just demand a higher standard of those processes than others. QTV sounds like he's a real piece of work, a narcissistic piece of garbage who can't take criticism, can't accept when his bad takes are used against him, and constantly tries to interfere with others in shady ways. I would have expected a bully with such a huge ego to actually be good enough at games to have a fun time with Elden Ring, but I guess narcissism, bullying, and incompetence really are all of his primary character traits.
