Rahul I made a "crunch wrap" basically a knock off of taco bell but as you like low calorie so do I. This was one lavash whole grain wrap. And 4 egg whites I microwaved and seasoned in a small bowl style Tupperware. Then put in the wrap and used 0 cal butter spray to crunchify the tortilla both sides. It was just delicious I want to get FF mozzarella to add to my next one. It was monster for filling and I dunked my bites in Sriracha

Do you think this will work if I use mostly casein powder? Trying to reduce whey consumption because whey is insulinogenic. I'm thinking it would work because it's not baked, just bound together by the syrup. I like to use an 80-20 ratio of casein to whey to imitate the balance of milk protein isolate. PS love the ingredients overall. Will be subbing the cereal for a keto cereal.

I literally just got done making this recipe and tasting it. There is no way you thought this was good or tasted like a butterfinger? It was horrible!. Most of your recipes are good, but this one is awful and I used every single ingredient you used, even the same brand, so I know there can't be any difference in taste. Has anyone else actually made this and tasted it? Before I made this, i just saw comments about how this looked good, but noone actually made it. Try making it and tell me if you think it's even edible. I was planning on doing a food taste review on all 8 bars in the silicone mold, but thank god I just made one first. I will not be doing that now. I can't even describe the taste, It was just bad.

@@RahulKamat I was hopeful because your other recipes were good, but this is not edible at all. I was disappointed because I love butterfingers
@therecentlyundeceased2 жыл бұрын
@@RahulKamat I think the problem with the recipe as stated, for me, was the butter extract. 5g??? I've used it in the past after discovering it, but I've noticed it does add something to baked goods, but it's fucking foul smelling and therefore tasting for some people at the given quantity. Maybe it's just a failure of McCormick's product, but the commenter above stated they used all the same ingredients as you. I'm almost positive the butter extract was the very off flavour I just encountered while eating these. The first time, I think I used like 1g or less of the butter extract, knowing it was overpowering above a couple grams in another recipe I use it in that involves225g of casein, 180g of oat flour, over 100g of brown and granular erythritol, 450g of Greek yogurt, a lot of apple sauce, light butter so the artificial taste of the butter extract is just adding a slightly more buttery flavour to the baseline light butter which tastes a lot more natural. The vanilla extract is also actually a little overpowering in this, maybe because it's uncooked but personally I have a very pleasant but strong vanilla extract that I like a lot. Most vanilla extract tastes like nothing to me, so I'm also going to try scaling back on all other ingredients if I go mix the base of the "peanut butter" together and that tastes good without the extracts then I'll make this again for sure. Admittedly I should have tasted it before freezing. I did taste a little and felt the butter extract was a bit sickening but was hopeful the spoon just had a bit more of that for some reason stuck to it, or that the freezing would reduce the off ness of the butter extract. If anything the freezing made it worse, since the otherwise colder end product tastes less sweet than at room temperature. There's probably a bit of benefit to adding a little sweetener and forgoing 10g of extracts which are a lot of ethanol... I don't know if you're calculating the total calories of this while considering the 30 kCalories present in 10g of extract... I'm at least using an alcohol free vanilla extract which seems to be suspended in something calorie free or at least lower calorie, I do hope that trend catches on or that company makes more than vanilla extract. They're a bit of a naturalist brand though so I don't think they'll really get into the more exotic stuff like cake batter extracts.
@therecentlyundeceased2 жыл бұрын
@@RahulKamat Mm, yeah that was completely it. No more extracts, no more off taste. It's delicious, it tastes just like a butter finger. Much, much better than the last batch at room temperature. Also for anyone who uses Ascent's "Native Fuel" vanilla whey as the base (I'm going to try their peanut butter/chocolate whey as well since I have a bag): Only use like 42g of sugar-free maple. I'm going to try with a erythritol maple-optional syrup recipe I found a while ago as I'm imagining it would be quite good and cut down on sucralose/maltodextrin which do actually upset my stomach in large quantities. I first noticed it when consuming >=4 servings of sugar-free gelatin at once containing these sweeteners, personally I've found "Royal" brand gelatins much easier on my gut than Jell-O brand gelatin though if I recall the ingredients list looked pretty similar EXCEPT that Royal's sugar-free gelatin lists all three of the same sweeteners as being
@therecentlyundeceased2 жыл бұрын
@@ScottSachauFitness Try Rahul's butter fingers again! But don't put any extracts in it! I was skeptical of the high quantity of butter extract and even the vanilla extract in something un-cooked/baked and I was correct. For myself and probably some others, the artificial and off taste of certain extracts, mostly when they're uncooked, is particularly disgusting. Plus it adds a ton of calories just to make it taste bad to me and probably you! 10g of extracts has about 30 kCal and I do not know where it's accounted for in the macros. Rahul says "around" or "about 200 calories", but I've got the following math: 73.5 corn flakes 38.7 whey 69.2 peanut flour 20 sugar-free maple 30 extracts 231.4 kCal total And that's before the chocolate coating which does have some calories. I think this recipe is much better without the uncooked extracts adding 30 kCal so I'm skipping those altogether from now on. It really tastes just like a butter finger - slightly less crunch but I'm going to use some of the PB2 crunchy stuff next, same calories but 1g less protein and 1g more fat. Maybe I'll do half crunchy and half regular PB2.
