I had the same build up which I don't like looking at and removed it with Invisible Glass cleaner. My spray head leaked the first time I used it. Because of the build up and leaky spray head I returned it and did not replace it. The water shedding was not any better than other products. I give it a thumbs down.

Gtechniq G5. I rarely have glowing recommendations for protection products because I'm usually disappointed. But this stuff lasted me 9 months through 40in of rain accumulation on a daily driver. A bottle ~$20 and is gives 10-12 coats on all windows, will last several years. Seriously good performance and value.

I too applied this product after similar prep. I saw the same buildup at the stopping point of the wipers. In central texas, during the "winter," it was only useful for shedding water on side and rear windows during the many rinses due to our heavy pollen season. I got it because I work in a retail parts store and got it cheap. I'd never seriously recommend it, but I also wouldn't warn anyone against it. Thanks for validating my methods and feelings on this product.

One product that is marketed for a simple quick install which I have used is Gyeon Quick View. With the good prep, it is a simple install and seems to last a couple of months. They don't make any wild claims. Actually it's time for another application. Thank you for the great video.

Reminds me of the Armor All Ceramic glass cleaner. Tried that once and threw it away. Wipe off was a mess, it caused wiper chatter, and it got pushed around by the wipers on the windshield just like is shown here. It also seemed to make the window fog on the outside more than normal. I tested it in the bathroom on the mirror and confirmed that to be the case. Into the garbage it went. At least it wasn't expensive.

It's nice, but is it worth the overhead to carry a separate product when you can apply the same sealant for the paint, such as C2V3, and still get some good results? No need for an extra product to buy and time spent changing up product and towels... Just seems a better way to go and still leaves the up sell for a true ceramic coating.

@@sjb3460 If you're using the original Rain X (yellow bottle), then your issue is how well you're buffing it off of your windshield after application. I had the same problem until someone showed me what buffing it off was supposed to look like. It takes quite a few 'clean side of the rag' (or paper towel) surfaces before you're done with a coat. I prefer the bottle without cleaner in it and I apply 2-4 coats on our windshields at a time (maybe twice a year in our dry west Texas weather) depending on how sore my arms are that day. 😂 I just bought this CeramiX variety today and I will NEVER do that again. I almost want to see if I can return it and get a bottle of the regular stuff because I cannot get this coating to buff out at all. I've been working on a rear passenger window for an hour and there's still a build up of product on it. I quit and came in to see if I was doing something wrong. 🤷♀️ Doesn't seem like I am, so I'm at a loss for this particular product. 'Stick to the original' is definitely my opinion.

The best way I like to use rain-x is once I've done a car wash if the windshield doesn't bead anymore I would just spray the entire windshield & use the wiper blades to remove the product then dry with micro-fiber getting product on entire windshield I found this will make it easier to remove streaking. Another technique lets say on a rainy day you find it doesn't bead anymore - park away from the rain and spray a straight line above the wipers and it will spread and dry the product on pretty quickly - It might not last as long but it gets the job done when you are short on time to apply this product, my main goal is to avoid streaks just apply as needed. Great product overall & I don't need to have my wipers at maximum speed anymore.
@artlayton14252 жыл бұрын
I use a similar product from Griot with the same results. I find I just have to wipe the windshield once to remove the product line. I do like the clarity it gives my windshield, and enjoy it when not raining. But it works great on the rear window and side windows.

The best product I've used is 303 graphene on the glass. I used Purple power to clean the windshield with a Mr. Clean magic eraser rinse and then dry. Clay bar it with a mild dish soap rinse and dry again. Apply 303 graphene to an applicator pad, and apply in a up and down motion. Allow it to flash, and buff with a micro fiber towel.

I detail on the side. I would not put this product on a customer's vehicle. Shawn.

I find the new gen. Ceramic, on a brand new windshield, to be extremely disappointing, whereas 20 years ago on a fast XC trip from Colorado to Minnesota, a violent rainstorm was reducing my visibility to dangerous levels, and literally lifted my wipers off the glass on my old Subaru GL in the crosswinds. I finally spotted a Walmart, took the exit, and then thankfully found the original Rain-X bottle. I had to sit under a gas station awning to dry the glass, and then apply the solution, dried and buffed it, repeated. Back on the road, I was literally passing Semis at 75, the rain so hard it washed over the hood, but the water just blew off with the wipers just on intermittent. Since then, the only product as good was small spray can of No Touch, which even worked on wet glass, but I don't see it any more. It is hard to fathom why Rain-X changed for the worse, as the only minor peeve was the application process, yet many new far pricier "wonder products" are even more tedious, in line perhaps with the notion that the extra labor, and cost, for the DIY obsessive must equate with a superior result - which tests do NOT necessarily support.

The remaining residue is a huge issue, Ive used this product and had to stop due to the residue left all over the windshield after using the wipers.
