I just bought a 22 PowerWagon last month and love it. I test drove a Rebel as well and really liked it, that thing had some zip. I'm not big into 4x4 driving, yet, so my reasons for going with the PowerWagon were a little different. For one it was just bigger and more impressive. The capabilities, luxurious interior and general appearance put me over the top.

I had a 2017 Power Wagon with the 6 speed transmission and I loved it. When Ram introduced the 8 speed and I researched the ZF8, I had to get one. That is one incredible transmission. The crawl ratio is amazing. With the 4:10 BW transfer case and the front and rear 4:10’s, this truck is almost unstoppable. I’ve gotten stuck twice in the snow because I got high centered, but both times it was my own fault. Love your video’s!

I got my Power Wagon for just over $55k plus tax here in the US. It’s got the level 1 package, and pretty much no other options but I love it that way. I say the PW is an off-road truck that can tow, the tremor is a tow rig that can wheel.

This winter here in B.C has some of the worse fog. The led headlights and fog lights in my 2019 Power Wagon amazing! Same would apply with a new Rebel. Both great trucks. Great channel you have going on here. Big Thumbs up!

Alex. the front locking diff IS NOT available in the Rebel. I know because I had a 2022 Rebel for two years. I loved the truck but wasn't going off road as much as I thought I would so I traded it on a 2023 RAM 1500 Limited Longhorn with every option in the book! What a comfortable beautiful truck!!!!!!!

That price comparison is something rarely brought up. I had leased a rebel before purchasing my wagon. More truck for a few grand more, why not? 2 years later, I'd say know what you want from your truck. A power wagon comes with draw backs if you want a toe rig or street truck. If you plan on wheeling it, boy is it your truck!

The warlock 5.7 also has the rebel exterior appearance package with all the protective under skids and 3.92 , factory inch lift , slapped some 35 Rts still much cheaper truck than the rebel , the interior in the rebel is soooooo out of this world 👌🏻

Just traded my 21 2500 big horn 4wd 6.4 hemi for my 22 rebel eco diesel granite crystal with red and black 2 tone interior love it so far !!! Fuel mileage is around 21-22 around town and 25-26 highway with the 3:92s my 2500 had the 3:73s and mileage on that was around 13-14 around town and 16-18 on highway I also drive with a light foot lol it really Makes a difference paying attention to your driving style as far as fuel mileage is concerned !!

Love my 2020 rebel, but I did originally shop for a power wagon. Unfortunately two large strikes prevented the purchase. 1. Wouldn't fit in my crappy small garage. 2. Too large to fit on most trails I take on my hunting property. Maybe one day...

Great Video. I went to my local dealership and looked at both the Power Wagon and Rebel. The only Rebels they had on the lot had the 3.21 gears. Good for mileage, but that’s about it. I built them to my spec and they were within $1800 (US) of each other. I am torn as to which I will eventually get.

if you are noticing your ram power wagon holding 5th gear for an insanely long time around town, i found the fix for that. requires HP tuners... i can fill ya in on info if you want.

Folks should also consider a 2500 Tradesman with the PW package…mine was ~$55k USD new, and came with all of the off-road gear that “regular” PWs have. They can be hard to find, though…

I just ordered a power wagon a couple days ago I got it because every truck I wanted was more expensive like the Ford tremor or raptor or bronco I don't like chevy but it was more than i wanted to pay the PW is a good price for a big truck that can go almost anywhere I don't need it but if im spending big money might as well

I have the 44-44 and I’ve been able to get full lock up I had to pull out basically a monster truck out of a mud pit at a mud event and I have a video of all 4 pulling at the same speed the whole clutch thing is confusing because pulling something I get full lockup pushing a trailer up a hill through grass my front kicks slightly out and I loose traction so the lock up is iffy with the 44-44

Warlocks right now are a steal of deal when looking at these crazy 1500 prices! So with the power wagon you can only get the 6.4 hemi. the power wagon has a special light suspension set up for off-road performance and the Cummins weighs almost an extra 1,000 lbs so it would beach the front end. as well as space for the winch and a number of other reason. So I wanted the power wagon because of its awesome capability off-road and was willing to sacrifice the Cummins option. plus not having the cummins give the PW a much lower starting price point which is nice!

The Cummins 6.7L is a beast! But the block is too long to fit the included winch. The easy solution is a 4BT instead of the 6BT. 4 cylinder engines will become more common. And the 4BT could offer better fuel economy and good power. NVH parameters seems to be the problem. I think it would be reasonable to get an extra 30% fuel economy with the the4BT over the 6BT.

Good review, both nice trucks I guess it just depends do you need a 3/4 ton or gas mileage? Most people never use their trucks as trucks just grocery getters....lol. I have a 2015 crew cab with 4" lift on 35s, really like it.

I may be wrong, but the 2500 and the 1500 generation are not synced up with each other cab wise. In that the 2500 has yet to get a true 5th gen cab that the non classic 1500s got. The 2500 was supposed to move to the us plant in 2021 which had been retooled for the updated 1500. But due to covid and those shortages, it never happened. So the 2500 continued to be built in the older tooled plant, located in Mexico. As well as the classic 1500. Don't forget the biggest difference between 1500 and 2500, the weight. 3/4 ton vs. 1/2 ton is the real difference. Weight kills horsepower and sinks deeper... Btw... 4.10 gears is the one thing I do not want.. and the only reason, I'd never buy a power wagon.... much rather buy a tradesman or big horn 2500, instead.

So what is the difference between a locking front diff and the transfer case on this particular rebel?

So you kind of have to think of a 4wd system as having 3 differentials. So one on the rear axle and one on the front obviously, and those take up the wheel speed differences when turning on each axle (the inner wheel turns slower then the outer wheel in a turn). but there is also differences in speed between the front axle and the rear axle as well so in AWD vehicles there is a third differential called the inner axle differential. now on a pick up truck there is not a third differential instead there is a locking transfer case. this transfer case does not allow adjustment for speeds between the front and rear axle (it's locked) this is why when in 4wd on dry pavement the truck will bind whereas an AWD vehicle does not bind because the 3rd diff will take up the speed differences between the axles. hopefully that makes sense. so a locked transfercase forces equal power to the front and rear diff. whereas a front locker would force equal power to each wheel on the axle. so in order to have all 4 wheels truly locked and receiving equal power you need a rear locking diff, front locking diff and a locking transfercase. the Power Wagon has exactly that. but the rebel only has a locking rear diff and locking transfercase. meaning that the front axle could only send power to 1 wheel vs forcing power to both front wheels.

Actually the PW is more like Gen 4.5. Yes it has the 5th gen interior but it is a 4th gen cab. A lot of us wonder when the HD's will get a new 5th gen cab. The big fear is that we will lose the MegaCab.

The Ram 2500 is no doubt a very nice truck but its significantly larger, heavier and more expensive $ especially when equipped with a diesel engine and winch which add about 800 lbs. to the front of the truck that make the driving, handling and turn radius worse than the 1500.

Bronco's, G-wagons, the new Grenadier, some Land Cruisers, and the Colorado ZR2 also have front lockers. As for 1/2 ton trucks the Tremor and the Raptor are the only ones currently with a mechanical "locking" differential all be it a Torsen (better then an e-locker) to be exact. The Silverado 1500 ZR2 will be out soon and it will offer a front e-locker.

The power wagon sticker should say micro penis on it but it doesn't lol umm so I've done a couple payload videos with the PW compared to my old ram 1500 (which had a higher rated payload then the PW) and it's not even close. I loaded my ram 1500 to the max rated payload of 1560 lbs and completely bottomed out the rear axle. The axle was literally sitting on the bump stops and had no suspension travel at all. I loaded the PW with 2,400lbs at the rear was still had suspension travel, almost 1,000 lbs over the rated number. I bought the PW for it's offroad use primarily so the numbers never really bothered me but when you actually get out in the real world the PW would crush any 1500 in terms of towing and payload. The exact driveline in a PW is rated for 18,000 lbs in a normal 2500. so it has plenty of power. 4.10 gears. It's has a full floating rear axle rated at well over 6,000lbs, solid front axle. bigger stronger driveline and axles, stronger transfer case, heavier brakes, thicker frame, re-enforced box. rims and tires rated for more weight. So the "on paper" numbers are a little deceiving at times. I towed 8,200 lbs with ease in this truck and I wouldn't dare do that in my 2017 ram 1500. I had my ram 1500 struggling with 5,500lbs. and trust me there is a reason why the PW is rated so low, obviously the soft suspension but also because it's height and disconnecting sway bar. the rating companies deemed the truck potentially unstable because of that when under load. so you take out the disconnecting sway bar and drop the truck down an inch or two and it would probably be rated much closer to your standard 2500. fuel economy well ya its GARBAGE. you nailed that on the head. no defending that lol however my father law with that exact rebel in the video is getting 18L/100km (13mpg) after 5000km of driving. I get 19L/100km (12.5mpg) so I mean you pick your poison. I'm 1000% bias but I have videos of everything and the PW is just a heavier stronger truck. (sorry for the long response, I just get told this so often)
