Very good! I remember now, I wanted more velocity. That’s why I loved Ram Shot Tac. Shot a little tighter groupings and ran about 2100-2150, if my brain works right. 35 Remington is a low pressure round, and the 336 is built for.30-30 pressures, so you could take those a little faster. I think next I’ll be working on the bullet hardness, trying to find where different alloys start to expand. Thanks for sharing, Brother. This excites me!

These groups aren't too bad, but they're not moving especially fast. I believe I was getting more velocity from the Shooters World Precision, so I could bump those up another grain or so and see where that gets us - as long as the groups stay together. I have also tried TAC before, but only in 556 and that was a few years back. I think it's the same as AA2230, which my dad really enjoys. Keep us updated on your hardness tests, that sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for suggesting this one, we could push it a bit harder as well. 🇺🇸👊👍

good point Jamie, the obturation of the alloy may even make a difference an tighten up group, although it an excellent group now 👍🤠

@@mckwilly that’s a point I hadn’t thought about. My test were all hard bullets, 18 BHN or harder, because I wanted to really push them. And DR, that 200 grain bullet@1800 FPS will do all the damage you need it to. I gotta get some water jugs filled up. Y’all have my blood pumping!🤠🤠

@@jh5869 yessirr I've got loads for lil rusky worked up..243 ..and more 8mm ...for next range trip I'm all worked up I just git through these 3 days work ahead of me ...glad I can 👍

This isn't even necessarily a hunting load, so idk why I'm worried about moving faster. I'm about out of this specific alloy anyways, so I'll probably have to work up again with the next batch. I just need to start by confirming the groups I've already achieved and go from there.

Awesome to see how you work this through, just a beginner in reloading, and also the .35Rem, so very nice to how you handle this.

Good work, As others have mentioned I think 100yds is going to tell the story better, and a few shots at 200 just for giggles.

I'm thinking load 10 of each and back it up to 100yd and see how we do!🇺🇸👊👍

How many shots, at various loadings gets me all the time. ex. 5 shots at .2 gr increments over 3 gr. spread is 75 shots. I soon realized that I might go through 200 - 500 shots just developing the load. If it's hunting grade bullets for a non-caster that is a lot of money. Hunting bullets here range from 60 to 80 cents each. It's interesting though, I guess that's why I want to do it. Mike

It's easy to over do it and over analyze what we see. This isn't even necessarily a hunting load, so idk why I'm worried about moving faster. I think we just need to confirm what data I've gathered and stretch it out a bit as well. There's a trillion combinations and variables to change, but I'm probably the biggest obstacle in the whole operation. I need to work on my own shooting more than counting individual kernels of powder as a way to "find accuracy".

I'd try to duplicate the 35gr group ...good stuff 👍

They pay $15 to go to the range and $1 a shot, you think they'd be there longer than 30 minutes!

Big Dummy, hey, I would give yourself some slack on the group size, the load may be not shifting, you may be shifting as you change position to fire your next group. simple things as changing your elbow placement or the way your shoulder is seated with the rifle butt can shift groups from shot to shot. I would like to see how this bullet groups at 100 yards, just to see how stable it is, maybe 200 yards? -Dave
@DummyRound3 жыл бұрын
You're totally right about me probably causing the shift. I was trying to get my zero dialed in and taking my time doing 5-10 shots about every 15 minutes while dude bros were mag dumping their 7" AR pistols right next to me. I didn't get out to 100yd this time, the range had about 3 inches of water on it past 50. I have shot this particular bullets at 100yd with 8208 a little while back, they were stable, but I could improve the grouping I got there as well. I can also try at 200yd next time we take these out. As always, thanks for the insight and criticism 👍👊🇺🇸

I enjoy your video's but you are using cast RN bullets. When I got my 35 only had commercial ammo. The round nose Remington's is what I sighted in first without spectacular results. Next came the Flex Tips and they shot 6" higher at the same point of aim. Couldn't find the RN and settled on 200 gr Flex Tips. The grouping was more respectable but I measured outside to outside of the spread. My bad. Found 180 gr 38 pistol bullets and going to develop loads for them. They fit well as do the 147 grain ftx's. The idea is that they are 10 cents cheaper and ON SALE is my favorite color. Until the 35 cases become available I have to shoot some and then reload. Slow process but am anxious to share my results........................ enjoy

Sounds like a fun journey. I haven't seen brass on the market in 3 years! You'll probably have to get factory ammo or find fired range brass. As for cast loads, I use 38/357 pistol bullets all the time for light recoil and range fun. The 200gr definitely have a kick to them. Good luck👍🇺🇲
@johnmaliskey7951 Жыл бұрын
I just got 48 cases and now will use 3 or 4 different powder drops for the 180's in FTX. The 200 gr flex tips rang the gongs at my range at 100, 200 and 300 yards. I forgot to bring white spray paint then as they were heavily used but next time I'll know where I hit..... enjoy@@DummyRound

Your primer cratering is likely a slightly mismatched firing pin/ hole fit. Very difficult to truly crater a primer in the .35 Remington with approved loads.
@DummyRound Жыл бұрын
Yessir! Very hard to dimple primers at only 35k psi. I might have to look into bushing the firing pin some day, or just know that's whats happening and not use primers in such low pressure cartridges to determine possible pressure levels. Thanks! 👍🇺🇸👊
