People underestimate turbo motors all the time. This towing alone proves how far ahead it is above the competition (Tacoma, frontier, etc.)

The Taco has 265 Lb Ft of torque and 275 HP from a V6 the Ford 2.3 Turbo 4 is making 275 HP 310 Lb Ft Torque and with the Ford Performance Tune it goes up to 310 HP 370 Lb Ft Torque

Only reason why I did not buy a Tacoma was because it did not offer a turbo, but the Ranger did! I just wish my Ranger had the interior quality of a Tacoma.

i think the doubt mainly comes from the reliability aspect that i hear about a lot. i wouldn’t really know much about it, i just keep hearing old heads and car heads say shit like “gimme a v8 all day it’s built to withstand the pressure” and shit like that. we’ll just have to see whenever these rangers hit 200k miles.

@@dameiondarthard3878 I wouldn't put an Ecoboost 2.3 against the old LIma 2.3. The Lima 2.3 was a dog, but you couldn't kill it. Only time will tell with the Ecoboost.

I drove mine from California to Alabama back in may with a 8500 lb trailer and about 800 lbs on the truck bed (yes I moved). It drove just fine. Drove to California and back again with another trailer (get the remainder of my stuff) last week and drove fine again. These little trucks put in work. For this latest trip the trailer was about 2,000lbs total with a camper shell and two 100lb German Shepards in the back… so practically empty truck bed.

@JonBecker81
@JonBecker81 Жыл бұрын
If you’re going to be towing heavy with your ranger you should get the Ford Performance tune. Mine is leveled and on 32’s like yours and that tune helped out tremendously. I tow a travel trailer totaling 22 ft and a trailer full of lawn equipment, not nearly as heavy as this load but probably has more wind resistance with the travel trailer. I’ll merge onto the interstate and before I know it I’m doing 80 without even thinking about it. I think you gain about 60 lb/ft and maybe 50 hp. I can’t remember exactly but somewhere in that ball park. Also for trailer brakes I use the Curt Echo Bluetooth controller. It does fine. But if you want to keep the emergency braking (and adaptive cruise if you have it) you have to get the one supplied by Ford which is a lot more expensive and a PITA to install so I’ve heard. I don’t usually use cruise control when I’m towing and definitely wouldn’t use the adaptive CC. I’ve lived without automatic emergency braking my whole life so that wasn’t worth it to me.

Styling kinda looks like the maverick, hope they change that for the US version.

Rating is probably all safety. It seems that the trucks' rating is base on drivers that have never towed and making machine compensate for that. I have had 9500lbs behind an 2012 5.0 f150 (rated for 7200lbs) with TBC added, I felt fine. An exact same truck with 3.5 eco starts at 9000ish lbs and up for rated capability. Same frame, axle and brakes as all other f150s.

Wow! Be very interesting how they perform in the long term. I'm not impressed with the V6 turbos in the f150's. Ford should be paying you for what your doing! -for sure. Thanks

Well i don't know what ecoboost f150s you've been in, the 2.7 is hands down the best and most reliable engine ford puts in the f150 other than the 3.3 v6. The new 5.0 is nowhere as reliable as it was especially with cylinder deactivation. My brother is the second owner of his 2017 3.5 ecoboost, it currently has 227k miles on it, he owns his own construction business and is constantly putting a shit ton of miles on it every day. He hasn't had any issues with it at all. Before that he had a 2012 with the 5.0 and absolutely hated it. At the end of the day, its your money and your going to buy what you want, but i would never buy the 5.0 over the 2.7 or the 3.5, other than the roar of that v8 theres no reason for the v8 when the ecoboost do everything but better.

I wouldnt say kubota knock off. You really cant go wrong if you stay with kioti, kubota or a deere. And tbh could be because of the dealer location close to him. Kubotas are probably the best for the the small to mid size department but they can be overhyped, And im a kubota fan

@@George88889 I’m sure they’re fine but just like Korean automakers like Hyundai, they are obsessed with how the Japanese do things, so yeah, it is a Kubota knock off and the Kubota is the better machine.

Id rather see orange and green than red and blue. Kioti makes tractors for bobcat soo apparently they must be doing something right if its to bobcats specs

I just had the dealership install the ford performance trailer brake controller in my 2022 and the sumo bump stops. I think 10k would be pretty comfortable.

Come on dude, put your seatbelt on, and no trailer brake with a load like that? Don't put others at risk because you wanted to see how fast you could go with a tractor on back.

@Flux Apex I bumper pull every day for a living; if you have trailer sway, you aren't towing correctly. Always max out your hitch weight(gives you more stability), always run your tires at maximum pressure (better stability, don't worry about tread life). If you do the above and still have trailer sway, you have too much weight above or behind the axle group center. Always try to tow with trailer brakes. If not, drive for conditions and keep an appropriate following distance. As far as trailer hardware goes, most quality manufacturers and suppliers run a safety factor of around 2, so, as long as your tires can handle the weight, the trailer can carry it within reasonable conditions. When overloaded, don't drive over 60-65mph for long periods of time.

@@ColtWR Gladly!! Your truck is rated to pull 7500 pounds. It is unlawful to pull a trailer and cargo that is over that weight. It is also unlawful to even pull an empty trailer if the trailer is rated to haul more than your trucks rated tow capacity.

@@exjw8623 so here is what I have found that is closest to your concern. This is in chapter 9 of RULES PERTAINING TO TRANSPORT PERMITS FOR THE MOVEMENT OF EXTRA-LEGAL VEHICLES OR LOADS 2 CCR 601-4 919.2 The truck or truck tractor unit of all longer vehicle combinations shall have adequate power to maintain a minimum speed of twenty mph on any grade over which the combination is operating and to operate on level grades at speeds compatible with other traffic. No where does it specify gvwr is a manditory max for the vehicle. It's not recommended by the manufacturer. However I'd beg to differ that with correct coupling and brakes they would call this load "illegal" and would not be subject to a shut down. Given I am searching the comercial motor vehicle rules because for my business that is what I abide by. If this was an RV situation, the rules would be even less.

@@ColtWR this that you quote has nothing to do with legal weights being towed. Look it up on you tube tons of videos including vids with state patrol officers explaining the laws regarding towing. What you quoted is pertaining to actually going and purchasing a permit to carry overloaded or overly long loads. Anyone towing any kind of trailer whether you are a cdl driver or just a person pulling a travel trailer you still legally have to stay within the tow limits and payload limits of your vehicle and trailer.

This is misinformation. I can register a 2500 to gross 36,000# with a class A and be completely legal. The ranger towing under 26,000# (class D license), but licensed for what it is towing is legal. The no trailer brakes... Definitely illegal in my state. Trailers more than 5,000# must have brakes on every axle. Manufacture ratings are not determinate of max weight. Spend any time in ND and you'll see srw 3500's 2500's etc posting 35,000# or even 42,000# all day long....

Terribly dangerous, just because you feel good doesn’t mean it is. No brakes, no whip until you have to swerve to miss someone. Do it once on a side road, maybe. A few hundred miles at 75 no way.

We haul many odd, over sized, and over weight loads on all sizes of trucks from pickups to semis. I know what "too much" feels like. At no point did I feel this set up was unsafe what's so ever. This truck has better brakes than the 3/4 ton chevy I had and you can take that to the bank.
