Such a thoughtful ranking and your collection is interesting; different to the usual KZbinr (I mean that as a compliment!)

Thanks! That is the biggest compliment you could give me. I am trying to find what I like rather than just riding the waves of what's popular.

Agreed on the blendability over intense pigments. That is partly why I love my Chanel quads so much. Blendable, warm reddish stories, satins and mattes that work for me. Compact, reliable and consistently good. I dipped my toes into indie and as much as they offer more for less, I find I'm just opening the palettes to just look at them. 2024 will be an almost no buy this year. I need to use what I have, learn to use the products to suit my lifestyle and aesthetic, and leave the reviews to you. As much as I am a warm undertone, I value your round ups because I want to know about formula, shipping and the variety of brands I rarely hear about. Thank you for this mammoth effort.

Aw that's super nice to hear! I do like a warm tone from time to time but I just live for the cooler tones.

That's just the palettes. I think I tried close to or over 30 foundation, a bunch of concealers, blush, bronzers, highlighters, skincare and I am pretty sure I tried over 50 new lip products.

I learn a lot about cool and warm undertones with you! Is it possible for someone to be okay with both? I think I'm neutral to cool but I like warm tones more lol
@FloatinginDreams10 ай бұрын
Totally! You can have a neutral undertone (like me) and get away with both). I actually prefer cooler toned shadows, but love a warm cheek.

I have just finished watching another influencer , that has commented on the Odens Eye formula all the reasons you have mentioned plus hard panning after one or two uses . I had purchased an odens eye palette and was not impressed at all and thought it was down to my inexperience of different formulas but now I feel I was spot on with my initial thought.
@gaaartsma10 ай бұрын
Funny, I just finished watching another influencer who rated the Oden’s Eye Jewels and Gems very highly (Make-up just for fun). It was in her top 2. But then again, she did collaborate with the brand, so she might be a little biased. The look she did was pretty amazing though, I will say.

You just blew my mind - no idea that later Tarte palettes are magnetic! I bought the Energy palette with Ulta points and now I’m going to have to test that out.
@leaj379910 ай бұрын
Follow up: my magnetic did not work on the Energy palette. If you got it to work then it’s possible Tarte puts their palettes together differently for the European market vs. the US. Or maybe it is the large Maneater palettes that have magnetic pans?
@FloatinginDreams10 ай бұрын
I haven't tried it yet. If they are glued in: you can take a narrow tool (exacto knife/ makeup spatula/ hairclip) and a hairdryer. You.use the hairdryer to heat up the pan and soften the glue. Then take the tool to lift out the pan. I have several videos up where I do this.

Thank you so much for hyping up the newest Kaleidos palettes, they are perfect for us cool-toned people! Venus Trap is my nr 1 palette this year out of 28 and I don't even like quads normally. But they are the only brand that actually released a truly cool-toned neutral palette, which is also amazing quality, and that's an automatic first place for me. Thanks for representing this perspective, it's so validating when you call out the gaslighting (Off Melrose is sooo not cool-toned and I learned it the hard way lol). Happy New Year, can't wait for what's to come! 🩷
@FloatinginDreams10 ай бұрын
I think some people who label products as 'cool toned' may be warm toned which is why on them it may look cool toned, but if you grab someone with an actual cooler undertone it just doesn't deliver.

I understand completely about the multichromes, not my thing when they are so bam-in-your-face and also when flaky, they never translate well on the eyes. I also feel like the satins are so underrated. I prefer them over those crazy flaky shimmers and super metallics even though I do like some metallics - I tend to prefer smoother ones and I love the sheer pigment shimmery demure and dainty shadows like Bobbi Brown Luxe eyashadows.
@lorainemcgillivray7710 ай бұрын
Hi Maaike I had guessed around 50 to 60 palettes, so 86 was a surprise 😂. I bought less than ten😂. However of those I bought my top picks are: Dior silver backstage Dior cool neutrals Viseart cool mattes (works great for my truly cool undertone and the shades are not all grey on me) Catrice diamond lavender (many thanks again) There you go my top four. These are my most used from this year’s purchases. I tried a few others I like and enjoyed, but these are all palettes that I can use for everyday wear and truthfully I love soft cool shades the most. My lifestyle and makeup aesthetic call for fairly subtle makeup and these deliver that for my ultra pale cool toned skin, ashy blonde hair and grey eyes. Best wishes x

@@FloatinginDreams absolutely love Cape Town. It's my 4th time there; this time for my daughter's graduation and a bit of a holiday afterwards. There is so much to do and see in the city itself and in surrounding areas. You should definitely consider Cape Town and the Stellenbosch/Franschoek areas as destinations to visit.

Hi, happy new year 🎉 my favs are from Oden's eye, but I aply my shimmers with finger, always, they are too creamy to aply them with brush for me 😊 I really like your videos, I also love Catrice and Essence and they are affordable here in Slovakia too 🙂

I tried Gloss Gods thanks to you and the palettes I have (New Neutrals and Gal on Jupiter) are really lovely, I never would have guessed such affordable formulas could be so nice and impactful. It makes me side-eye some super expensive indie brands as well, it turns out that making nice eyeshadows is actually pretty cheap, so I guess the rest of the price is just markup 🙈
@FloatinginDreams10 ай бұрын
Markup, marketing, etc. Makeup is super cheap to make. Anything over €50 can actually be quite ridiculous. You pay for the packaging and experience of using the products more so than actual quality. The reason why we think expensive is better is purely psychological.

I do get a little confused , you buy most of these palettes yet half of your yearly's purchase you dont even like the colour stories , wouldnt your money be better spent on colour stories you do like . Hold off purchasing until they release a colour story you might like . K beauty brands are light washes of colour everyone knows that yet you keep purchasing more. I am yet to see that challenging of eye look, where you use more than two shadows and that ends up looking like one anyway. Wouldnt you like to put out more positive content instead of dissing on everyone's formulas , colour stories , shimmer quality , matte performance on every pallette you purchase. I'm normally a positive person with positive comments but man you depress me and nearly turn me off makeup. Cheer up , be happy , be positive ,try and encourage your subscribers to be enthused about their makeup , get creative Or pull your palettes apart design your own palettes and inspire others by doing looks with the shadows you love ❤️

People use makeup for different reasons, some can be more free in choosing colour story and the intensity of the eye look, some feel confident only choosing one crease matte and an shimmer top because they're work space doesn't allow " peacock makeup". She is spending her own money buying makeup and test it but this doesn't mean everything will end up being preferred in the end . Some people do very little makeup and never use eyeshadows. Till' 30 i was using only mascara and an lipstick, after i've started dipping in foundations , concealers and co. I am subscribed to bigger channels that receive PR and those influencers only do neutral looks, very basic makeup look for years! You don't have to be so harsh on someone else!

@@AndreeaC. My intention was some constructive criticism ; as an influencer not just a consumer I feel you would want some more inspiring content to encourage subscribers . This is my opinion only as a more recent new subscriber the only content I have seen thus far is one of the same , just saying

How to tell someone you didn't watch the video w/o saying you didn't watch the video... Some of your feedback is in this very video. Loving K-beauty ✅️. Rearranging color stories. ✅️ Going back to things to make them work ✅️. Also, this is a YT channel. I use Adsense to buy product for reviews. Some of which won't be perfect for me. Some of it surprses me and ends up in the top 20. This video is a roundup from worst to best. So yes, the first part of the video is not positive as they were my least favorite palettes of the year. And if you want a channel where someone is 'obsessed' and everything is a 'holy grail', this is not that channel. As for the looks I do: I teach. I do makeup before going to work. While I can do more creative looks I simply don't have the time. If you watch any of the reviews I did with these palettes (there is a link in the description box) you'll see how I actually like to use shadow. As you point out in your second comment: you've only been here for a short while. Maybe watch some more videos and see what a channel is truly about before giving feedback on things that are already happening on this channel?
