@@dadwhatsfordinner I sincerely doubt that Freddie would bust up a guitar like that. That's not only disrespect to the instrument, but also disrespect to the audience. i believe he'd leave that sort of behaviour to hooligans. It wasn’t only Queen who realized they had been sensational. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star. “Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, because they could connect with an audience.”

The four of them are not only great musicians but very well educated. The all four have college degrees. The guy on the guitar is Sir Dr Brian May. He has a P H D in astrophysics and has worked with Nasa in the past. Brian was recently Knighted. Also he and his Dad built his guitar from stratch from parts around his house when he was a teenager. He calls it The Red Special and still uses to this day. Freddie had a degree in graphic arts and he designed the Queen Logo. John Deacon the bass player had and electrical engineering degree and Built an Amp called the Deaky Amp which Brian used. .. Roger had biology degree but decided he wanted to stay with music. QUEEN is only band that all four members each had number hit.

Interesting fact queen were not on the original lineup when the tickets were sold but a last-minute addition as they were considered a bit old-fashioned by this time. However, to this day, all people remember about live aide is queen and even the performers said to Freddie when they exited the stage "you bastard you stole the show" And even with the tragic loss of Freddie, the rest of queen still perform and are well loved. In recent times, at a green day concert they were playing bohemian raspody before the concert started, and the hole crowd was singing along. They had to delay the start of the concert so they could finish.

Answering your question, the guitarrist is our dear Doctor (and now Sir as well) Brian Harold May, simply Brian May, or just Bri for the friends and fans (you can actually hear Freddie asking him to get the center of the stage during "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", for him to go play with the audience for a little). He's the main genius behind many of Queen biggest hits, like "We Will Rock You", "Hammer to Fall" (both were on this video), "Keep Yourself Alive", "Who Wnats To Live Forever", "Too Much Love Will Kill You", "The Show Must Go On", "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)", and many, maaaaaaaaany others. Brian and Freddie used to compete against each other for who would fill more of the album with their own songs. Fun fact about it, Freddie, who (according to himself) always suffered from loss of inspiration, was very proud of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", because it was the first song he could write in the seeingly "effortless" way Brian always did, like, in 20 minutes, on the shower. The fact Brian could create masterpieces just as easilly as breathing was something Freddie, Roger and John sometimes got very frustrated with, so, Freddie was very happy when he created that song in the same way. And another interesting detail about this song, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", is the fact Brian uses 3 different guitars. He starts with the acoustic, then uses a black fender (mirrowing Freddie's white one), and then, the Red Special, the unique guitar he and his father created when Brian was fourteen years old. That last guitar was the main responsible for most of Queen's unique sound (there is a song Brian emulated an entire orquestra using just the Red Special and different guitar skills. Imagine a guitar mimicking the sound of a cello? Brian did it. Meowing? No problem, Brian did it also. Talking like a human? Yep, he did it too...). Brian was recently announced as a new knight by the Brittish monarchy, for his services not just in the music field, but for his enviromment work (he's an activist for animal wellfare) and science. Brian has a PhD in astrophysics (he's the author of the manual Nasa uses about the movemment of space dust) and a very respected researcher on that field. He's also an enthusiast of photography and is an enthusiast of the stetoscope, a technology used for 3D image. Recently, people asked him to do an IQ test, and when he did, he scored 180, the same as Einstein. He's a super genius.

Ok crazy Brian fan Brian didn’t invent Stereoscopic photography it was developed in the 1800’s. Give do to all the band, everyone of the wrote number one hit songs. The crazy sound Bri gets is Deacy’s amp he built for Brian. Rogers voice is amazing also and could be the lead in any other band but Queen had Freddie, enough said. John write Another bites the Dust and it was the first number one song in the States. So yes Brian is crazy talented but so are the rest of them. The thing that made Queen special was the way the four of them made magic together.

@@nancyblumberg4612 Thank you for all the informations (including the correction, I'll correct it on the original asap)! I already knew most of them, but I liked the fact you did put these here as well (my comment was already a wall of text, and it was stressing enough to write so much on a mobile that auto-translated everything to my original language at every five words). But, you see... If you watch the video, you'll see he asked for BRIAN's information. Brian's. So, sorry if it sounded in my comment I didn't value the others, very far from this. All of them would be able to create huge books with their lifestories and archivemments alone, in music and their respective areas, but I honestly don't think it would be right to put everything including all the extras on a comment, that was already huge, for someone who is just starting. So, sorry if I didn't flaunt all knowledge about the band on a single comment. I decided to put just what he asked. Sorry if the lack of information about all the others didn't please you, and thank you again for completing my comment. I've been there since the beginning, 1973! At the beginning of your video, you said Freddie is good but so are all the other guys. Freddie always said he is not queen without the other guys. He is not the lead singer he is a band member and together they make great music. Do yourself a favor and watch Queen sing "somebody to love" live in Montreal in 1981. Freddie always said he sings it differently in person because if it sounds the same as the record, you may as well stay home and listen to it. "Love of my life" live in Japan 1975, they start singing the song and the entire audience started to sing the words in English! You have to see Freddie's reaction. He is overwhelmed and looks out to take it all in. That is another thing about him, he looks out to the audience to get the whole picture and really enjoys it. Also, you said the music is still good and that's what Brian May said, they want your children and grandchildren to enjoy it. Freddie was so afraid to get his teeth fixed for fear it would ruin his voice range. He was a boxer in his teen years I think that may be why he puts those moves in. Do yourself a favor and watch the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. It is kinda their story all crunched together but as I lived through it and remember, it didn't quite happen that way but it was a movie. I saw them 3 times in Philly and saw Queen and Adam Lambert twice. Adam Lambert is another amazing human. What a voice!!! Thank you for sharing your commentary with us old dusty fans! Tight Hugs!

Now at days it would be excepted. Remember when Freddie would sing “Death on two legs” and they would bleep out a$$ when he would say it?! Now that’s nothing! Lol

In the beginning, you can hear every band member give a sound with their instruments just to check if everything works. And what follows next is concert history that nobody will ever beat.

Don't forget... This is 'LIVE'... No second takes in a recording studio... Freddy gives his all In a couple of the later songs in this video, you will hear his voice crack on some of the higher notes... He was advised by the doctor not to sing that night... He went out there anyway n that first night singing with Queen, he broke the Mic stand... It became a part of his show... his Lucky Charm

Brian May on guitar, singing, organ, John Deacon on Bass, Roger Taylor drums and backup singing and Freddie Mercury lead singer, piano, guitar. The latest version of Live Aid that KZbin is pushing has been cut off in a couple of places. Look for older versions that show Freddie finishing the song.

Just subbed. I love reaction to new Queen fans😂 I was 15 when live aid happened and it was the biggest event in history all the prominent bands played. I was glued to the TV the entire festival. 1.6 billion people watching around the world and two venues completely packed one in the UK and one in the US.Queen was not scheduled to play and when this performance ended Queen brought in more money than all bands combined. I watched with my Dad and I was a huge Queen fan and after the performance so was my Dad. It was an awesome experience and probably then best 20 minutes of music period. IMO❤

The artists were not paid for this charity concert. Some of the earlier performers dialed it in. Then Queen came on and the millions of donations started pouring in. I do not envy the artists having to follow this. You can see why Britain loved Queen. Many years after Freddies death watch the audience at the GREENDAY Concert at Hyde Park sing Queens BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY in the intermission. Every word.

I love Queen and Freddie. Many people assume that he was this way in his real, personal life, but this was all stage performance. He was actually very quiet and shy and kind offstage. Yes, he lived the Rock-n-Roll life, but he was really two different people, and most assume he had a big ego, but he was very modest. He knew he had a good voice, that he wanted to use it, and he loved making people happy. Seeing his audience reacting this way usually put tears in his eyes, he loved his fans so much. RIP Freddie. I still love you, too. Thank you for your goodbye video, Freddie…I watch it a lot. Plus, so many more. You achieved what you wanted, and over 30 years later, we still love you. More people are starting to listen to you again, a new generation. What a legend you are. ❤❤❤ Thank you, “Dad”, for reacting to my favorite ever group.

Yeah that sucks that there's this version where it's cut at the end. I wish that video was tagged - I would guess that happens half the time with people doing reactions to this performance. You don't talk too much. It's hard to remember all the little things that pop into your head during the performance at the end of the video. I was 15 when this concert took place. I was staying at my grandparents farm listening to it on a shitty transistor radio in the middle of a field in upstate NY and the energy was palpable half the world away. Great reaction. On one reaction channel some guy said Freddie can't dance - OMG WHAT??? He's really graceful and has just enough childish energy to make him relatable. It's a nice combination. He's like a kid in his bedroom playing rockstar - except he's a real rockstar.

Hey Dad!! Love the "blue gill" on the wall in the background, cute!! How many kids do you have?? The guitarist is a GOAT and an Astrophysicist that works with NASA, once you know his name, you never forget! SIR Dr. Brian May is now, as of 2023, he was just knighted by King Charles III for his accomplishments in music and philanthropy for the badgers and other small animals... Live Aid Concert Queen playlist, heard via simulcast over satellite television and radio stations worldwide to an estimated two billion people "Bohemian Rhapsody," written by Freddie... "Radio Gaga," written by Roger Taylor, the drummer... after hearing his comment from his son "Hammer to Fall," written by Brian May, for the movie "The Highlander" soundtrack "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," written by Freddie, a tribute to Elvis, written while taking a bath "We Will Rock You," written by Brian May, for the audience participation, he said the fans are what gives him the energy to continue all night... "We Are the Champions," written by Freddie, for the audience participation also There was another encore performance to close the show, a song called "Is This The World We Created?", a song written by Brian and Freddie, as a filler to finish out the album they were working on, not necessarily written for this event, just coincidence... Thanks SO MUCH for spreading the love that Freddie and Queen have shared with the world via THE QUEEN RABBIT HOLE... I live for the opportunity to see you reactors on KZbin listen and experience our dear Freddie and Queen for the first time... it makes my day... The remaining members of Queen still active, Brian May and Roger Taylor, the drummer, both have very successful solo careers in music that you could also check out... such talent the world has never seen before now... truly amazing... they were ALL legends... check them out, guarantee you won't regret it... Blessings to Dad and family... sharing the love... QUEEN FOREVER.

I always found it amazing that he was suffering from a pretty severe throat infection for this concert. I forget who was set to go on right after Queen (maybe Bowie?) But he said essentially, "How the hell am I supposed to follow that?!" Queen is my all time favorite, and I adore that us younger generations still appreciate his legacy.

Maybe others have commented - but I have to say that this is not Freddie Mercury and a band called Queen. They are all Queen - and Freddie is the lead singer - and the performer that draws the attention, the cameras and so on - but they actually all 4 of them are brilliant musicians - all 4 wrote #1 hits and are inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame - as well as the group is inducted in The Rock an Roll Hall of Fame. They have just these days been voted the greatest rock band of all times - and a guitar special's readers have voted Brian May the best guitar player of all times. Perhaps Jeff Becks sudden passing a week ago would have altered that? - and Brian has this New year just been knighted - and is now - formally - Sir Brian Harold May, CBE - That may also influence the readers ? All four of them are multi instrumentalists - during lockdown Roger made an album all on his own - 'Outsider' - . Now you have three of the names - - the last is the bass player, John Deacon - Queen's secret weapon - take a special listen!

Beside being wonderful musicians. Brian May is an astrophysicist , titled dr Brian May with a degree. The drummer Roger Taylor has a degree in biology and some dentistry. John Deacon has a degree in electrical engineering. Freddie had a degree in graphic design. All the band has many talents. Brian has a guitar, the red special And he and his father built his guitar when he was a teen. The made it out of an old mantle and an old tabletop, a bar from an old back pac. The other parts were made from things from his mother’s sewing box. Amazing. This is why it has its special sound

Somewhere in the middle of the field in front of that black tent. Queen destroyed all the other acts that day. I've still got my ticket. Nicely laminated now and locked up in my safe. He had a throat infection that day. The backstage doctors told him not to sing. Radio Gaa Gaa Hammer To Fall Crazy little thing We will Rock You We are the Champions

The bands didn't have a problem with getting the crowds involved we paid to be entertained & boy were we ever. I love to hear what you feel & think about my generations music. A week before the concert Freddie had laryngitis & was advised to cancel the concert. I'm glad they didn't. The song Crazy thing called love was played in the movie Mars Needs Moms
