Thank you so much! I just ordered the Adafruit Bonnet Kit (Bonnet, RPi Zero W, GPIO Pins and Case) for $35. Great deal. It was only $15 for shipping to Canada as well. In total, $62.95 in Canadian funds. Very happy. All I have to do is solder the GPIO, build the Pi "Sandwich", install PiTrezor, encrypt it. Then I'm good! Very happy. Thank you for the video and parts list.

Soldering paste is ideal. This allows you to use a heatgun to solder all of them at the same time.

So it is a fun project, but its a trezor model one equivalent and cost much more to make then to buy one from the company, so this is more for a hobby enthusiast and it sure is a fun little project for Raspberry lovers.

Very nicely done high quality video, thanks! I built one and it's working fine. One can use a pass phrase to get around the sdcard vulnerability. This is a very good DIY project. For others asking, this wallet works *exactly* the same as the original, except that you update it differently (refer link at top of this page).

Physical security - the passphrase can be read from the sdcard, so a "hidden wallet" password must be used to emulate the physical security of the original. I used a 1.3" display on mine, I use it a lot, thinking of making another. I use a "game screen" display image, so it looks like a game when it powers up.

you might need a 2nd usb mini cable to be plugged in for the unit to be detected by trezor. in my case it was the only way to get the trezor application to see it on a windows 11

Don't use Sodder. For a neater soldering job run a flux pen down the pads have the iron at 360 deg c and use fine leaded solder. Just don't use Sodder.

nope its directly stored on the sd card, its an interesting project but its very vulnerable because someone can just take the sd off and access the private keys

@@junpreet9261 If u download the image from the creator directly then it is not guaranteed that it's safe because you dont know what the image does. Yea, in that case you are right. However, if u have knowledge in coding then u could build the image by urself from the creators github. I didn't read the complete code and also unexpierenced to verify it. Better buy a original wallet from trezor to be safe 👍🏼. But I never heard someone said it's scam and in additional I would personally never store all my coins on pitrezor.

So since you made your seed while connected to internet your wallet is actually potentially compromised.

Good question. The device does not have wifi, and is only connecting to the host pc via usb, and network traffic is not being sent or received. The key is generated on the hardware wallet only, just like with the actual trezor device, and then only signed messages are sent over usb to the host computer. At least that's how it's supposed to work. The nice thing about building this wallet yourself is that you can read the code and verify if it is really doing that or not.

How do you update the firmware? Trezor io has an update and instructs users to put the devices into bootmode by holding both buttons and plugging it in, but it does not seem to work with this pi version.

he used linux, you can make a linux bootable usb, linux mint cinnamon is recommended (same commands as ubuntu which has wide support)

we see that this PiTrezor would be a fake copy of the official trezor, we also see that PiTrezor's link is with the official trezor wallet, if the official trezor finds out that we are using a fake version, can we lose access to the wallet?

Trezor software is open source so you can copied it and edit it but I don't know if Pitrezor image will be safe ( but you can't lose your crypto because you use a clone , you can lose it if the men who create pitrezor decide to take your private key or your recovery seed )

Good question. I don't think so. You need to see the key pad to know what order the number appear in. They do not appear in the same order each time, as a security feature.
