I'm about 28 grand into my new edge on3 build. Built bottom end, Clutch, turbo, t56 swap, struts, custom ac line, and all the extra bs needed to make the turbo build work. That's what it took to make it a 600whp daily driver.

Just curious how much it was for the dyno tune. I’m guessing even with that added cost it’s still cheaper than the supercharger route. I was pretty much dead set on a supercharger for my 97 Cobra but your cost breakdown really helped to sway me towards the turbo route, plus I like that the kit comes intercooled. Kenne Bell only makes one kit for the 96-98 Cobras and it’s non-intercooled and limited to about 11psi I think. Sounds like the turbo has way more potential. Great stuff, guys!
@RatchetWrenches
@RatchetWrenches Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I forgot and left out the price for the tune, but the price can vary A LOT. Everything went pretty smooth for my session and I think it was $500. Usually it's around $400 minimum. It really depends on what your goal is for the car but IMO turbo has a lot more benefits especially when you go to turn up the power. And yea coming with an intercooler was great. Thanks! Good luck with the build 👍🏼

Excellent breakdown on the parts list and review of the kit fellas 👌. On3 is know for being kinda sub par on some things but it IS a good budget kit to build off of. You can always upgrade the turbo, and other stuff later if you need. You now have boost. I can't wait to see where the next year goes with the 'stang 🤘. Just always make sure to give that turbo time to cool down by running it at idle for a few minutes after driving and I'm sure it will last just fine with regular oil changes. Lots of guys forget to let them cool down. It really does help. Nice job on the build guys 👌

Wastegate and turbo are the only questionable items, they've improved their kits over the decade its been out. Wastegates were known to stick and cause overboost. The upgraded ball bearing turbo is also much better over the stock chinese unit. The k member they sell as an add-on is quality name brand, and their pipe welds are very nice. Certainly a great starter kit where you can upgrade components to shit your needs.

You guys would like my 04 2v. Built w/ 5.0 boss block. heads oversized intake valves, custom ground comp cams, 2.8 KB, the full setup. Return style fuel, twin 465L pumps, etc etc list goes on. Have the car 17 yrs. Last dyno pull made 764whp, needed 95lb or higher to keep going and tighter grip on the pulley and I can run a 2.5 inch without slip (mind you it’s already an 8 rib setup). One of my finals things is running water meth. That will help drastically. Def gonna pound well over 800 to the ground. Maybe even swap the 2.8 KB for their 3.2. It’s direct fit they’ve told me. This car will finish pushing quad digits when I’m done no matter what it takes with that KB……so yeah I got one of those dominant 2Vs, just not yet on KZbin.

@RatchetWrenches
@RatchetWrenches Жыл бұрын
Thanks and I ran it for a little bit and it was crushing the filter so I opted for a screen. A lot of people run the screen even with less fine screen design with no issues. The turbo sits behind the radiator and is very well protected. I've had zero issues with the screen and it functions completely fine. I will eventually make a custom pipe into the fender or something for colder air which then I will switch to a filter at that time.

I had to get new oil relocations kit from somewhere else because no eta on back order after being told several times ot would be shipped within the next couple days or weeks etc... and misc little things my kit didn't have full oil feed or drain lines so had to do that. The rack an pinion bolts didn't fit with the tubular front end and they also don't offer chromoly option for it. 🤷‍♂️ I'm sure I'm missing some things....
