Loved watching this! My Grandpa used to build jalopies back in the 1920's. He would trade his rifles and things for the cars, when the college kids would go back to school after working the farm on summers. When he was 13 years old, he had 13 Fords! When he was in high school, he had a build that easily evaded the local sheriff, but... living in a small town, that sheriff knew who he was, haha. Lots of great stories,... watching you build this Rat let me imaging what kinds of things my Grandpa did, back in the day. Appreciate you sharing! Patience and ingenuity... defines both of you.

My name is Steven and I'm looking forward to building my very first junk rod soon. I have cancer and want to make something with all the bits I have been gathering for the past 12 years. I want to do this for my kids before I can't do it at all. I have a Volkswagen beetle body and a 1939 Dodge D11 chasiss. Our engine is from a 1974 AMC Ramble straight 6. I have a 1.5 ton Dodge front end and a solid 70s rear end with plenty of old farm machine parts. I will call it my BUDGE! Thank you for making this seem far more easier than I imagined. It brought back memories of when my late brother and I built our race car in the carport while we were in the military. A lot of fabrication, and satisfaction every step of the way. Bob, Sir! I gotta tell ya, 'bout ol' George Fletcher d.b.a. "Fletcher Frame & Axel" ! When I was in high school I owned a '57 Cadillac Hearse and the front crossmember, where the A frames bolt up was tore out. Well Sir, I got me a job working after school with George to pay for the work needed to be done on my Caddie. This old man taught me so much...like if we didn't have a certain tool, we'd make one! We used to straighten out big rig frames on his frame machine that he built himself. He used to give all his customers match books with his name and info on them. You know that little fold in the cover between the front and back ....his read "WE ARE ALL THE MASTERS" ...and it was true! Bob, you remind me soooo much of him, and I mean that as a high complement! Oh Bob. You are a true artist. I loved every minute of this video. What a clever style you chose. And, the engine sounds gorgeous. You have such a wonderful mechanical talent. Every move you made was exactly what I would have done also. This car is a gorgeous work of art. I hope you had a fantastic time enjoying driving it. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
