this is actually insanely helpful. currently i have a mental block in high jump so i’ve been having a super tough time because my coach isn’t the best. i know i’m a better jumper than i’ve been doing but recently not so much. i would ALWAYS overthink my approach because i knew that it felt wrong. i’ve been doing it for five years and i officially started actually DOING it right. but because of that it’s been tough considering the fact i’m scared of the bar itself. it comes in phases and sometimes i’m scared to jump in general. i feel like for me at the end of the day, as soon as i’m consistent i’ll be fine. and literally just watching the drills play out helps a lot. you have to fail in order to succeed and you’ll never succeed if you don’t fail!

I like your information and would like to know how you determine what size of circle to use, as well as how you determine the lengths of segments A and B? I coach anywhere from 6-12 highjumpers girls and boys and have never found difinitive information for forming a consistent curve. Drawing that many curves could get confusing :). What determines the # of steps used 10 vs 9 etc? Would love some help!

It's a tough thing because you have two sides, different radius, different takeoff distances and different approach angles. I ended up putting two curves down for my high-schoolers on each side. I limited the approach angle to 30 degrees for everyone. Radius of the curve should allow 5 steps on the curve and I found that 17-20 feet was not enough because I use a 30-degree approach angle, the radius of the curve has to be bigger to accommodate 5 steps. I start beginners out at 6 steps, move it to 8 after the first meet, then to 10 when boys start looking like they can do 6' or girls if they start looking like they can do 5'2". But, always 5 steps on the curve. My two lines are a 24' radius with a jump point that is 42" away. I also do a 22-foot radius coming into a jump point that is 36" away. I use autocad to draw the curves and to tell me how to spot the center point.

I went from sitting on the bench and also scarcely being able to dunk - to averaging several dunks per game, becoming a beginner, and also winning the state championship after using this vertical jump training “takom fetching network (G0OGLE it)! I have tried several vertical jump programs but this one tops them all. .
