Watching that Rock promo you could just feel the shift in the character. You can feel Dwayne's real feelings and bitterness over the crowd reaction to him take over and show dimensions to what had been a flat generic good guy. This was the birth of a future mega star.

@K Uhh, sort of? Lol. Late in his WCW run, it was revealed that for all of Raven’s nihilism and edgy attitude… His family is actually very wealthy, and Raven pretty much amounted to a pretentious teenager shouting “It’s not a phase Mom!” At his parents 😂. Kanyon visits their mansion and tries to snap Raven out of his stupor, while Sandman lounges in the pool and Raven repeatedly nods to the camera with an eye roll saying “What a mark” in a vaguely Ferris Bueller esque segment. ECW fans would rather act like it’s not canon, but I love it personally.

Late-'97 might be the high point of the war. Both shows had plenty of good stuff as WWF was starting to fully embrace the Attitude Era mindset and guys like Austin and Rock really were coming into their own as characters. Meanwhile, the NWO still had some juice and Hogan/Sting was getting closer and closer.

I feel like a little kid watching these again because I remember a lot of this stuff and it brings back such good memories of sitting there with my jacks bone crunching action toys, and my wrestling ring and recreating the matches with them. I even had my dad make me a custom steel cage because they didn't have one for my ring. Man, those were the days

Sad side note: Every wrestler in the first WWF match is dead. Edit: After I noticed that I checked the rest of them. Minus the Intro/outro, there are 10 segments. In 9 of them there is at least one person that is no longer with us. Most died before the turned 60 or even younger. RIP fellas, life can be hard and getting old sucks.

Late 97 was and probably still is my favorite year of WWE. I was 17-18, my senior year of HS, and DX just enamored me. It was so refreshing seeing the WWF go to more adult oriented programming. I also had a hot gf and that was also getting more adult oriented, if you know what I'm sayin'. Good times.
