I really like the idea of an overdrive on the Tf2. I have the Lwb. I got a Wertymaid lopro skid plate , but I haven't installed it yet. After seeing your video , I hope this reversal of the transfer case occurrs with this part.

Are you going to screw around and do some testing of the mixing before ECSC to see if it works out? If you do, it'd be sweet to see a little video of it. :D The Marlin works great, and yours should do even better than stock so I'm not surprised. I loved how mine worked with the GCM scale driveline at KNK. It's one of my favorite rigs now. However, I also missed one of the events so I think I was like 27 or something. I'm running it in class 1 at ECSC too.

I put leaf binders on my springs it stopped the axle wrap that breaks leafs. The the is a heavier rig but to get the springs to work right it has to be heavy. If you want some pics let me know if. It's a gr8 mod, haven't seen any mention of the trick in your vids

A truck doesn't need to be heavy to work right, but I totally get what you mean. Traction bars is another easy fix to prevent wrap.

Matt, you really made a nice Rig extraordinary! The Marlin will likely be the only Leaf Spring Rig I'll ever get - if it's still available then... I also got the P.S. dead man switch. Massive brown out.... I've got a BEC, and i get some serious, crippling brown out with this switch. I really REALLY wanted this to work. It's a brilliant idea... but magnets don't transfer 3s power very well. I remove the switch, and my lights are actually BRIGHTER? and no brown out... ever.

Scale Builder's Guild 6.6v.... i got the BEC because of the brown out. Didn't help at all. I notice that there's a wear mark from the magnets touching each other. It's a tiny lil line on just the outside ends, as if the magnets in the base aren't level. I'm experimenting too.

Thanks for the video looks really cool and grate info , I just got the Spektrum DX5R for the mixing and other functions , some one was selling one second hand for a good deal . Could you tell me what battery you are using and how you have wired and powered your winch is it just taking power from the receiver ? Do you use bec's . Ona side note your video convinced me to get the Marlin as my first RC truck so thanks for all the info !

Thanks for watching! I do use a BEC on this truck, as the BRXL didn't have the strongest on board. Winch is controlled through a Powershift RC controller and wired direct to 3S battery. Enjoy your Marlin!

Just ordered my first Scale RC. Of course it's a Marlin Crawler TF2. Have a question for you though, do 1.9 Super Swampers, The Bog tires, can I make them fit onto the stock 1.7 Beadlock Rims that come with the truck. I'm still waiting to receive my truck so I can't try it myself yet. Thanks and shout out from Canada, ttyl.

A 1.9 tire won't fit on a 1.7 wheel. You can go the other way though, and stretch a smaller tire over a larger wheel. It's not easy though.

Thanks for watching Vince! I have no experience with Cross, but people seem to like their 12th scale stuff. As for a new Ascender, I think all it'll be is a new body license. I'm not expecting big changes from them yet. Marlin's a good start if you're looking for a leaf sprung truck.

Happy new year .Ok nice upgrades.Marlin is famous for his super low low low gears (up too tripple underdrive),how low can the RC4WD crawl ? I think super low speed i s the biggest scale factor on the truck named "Marlin".

Going slow in small scale can be achieved with good throttle control. There's plenty of torque too. No need to have multiple transfer cases like an actual Marlin.

Hi Matt, I just finished painting my TF2 and was wondering if you do a final coat with TS clear, gloss, semi or matte. Thank you.

It depends on the finish I'm looking for, but yes.

@@scalebuildersguild Thank you for the quick reply. I have one that I put a silver under layer and wanted the scratches to show through. But my current body looks nice, that's what she said, I'm thinking semi gloss to protect it. The TS Dark blue looks great (TS-55). Have you ever used AS paints? I thinking these are aircraft colors but some look awesome. Thanks again!

Ok I'm a big Toyota fan really love your channel because I've been into rc for 30 years and have always liked the scale side of the hobby. So I'll ask a time tested question. Sc10 2 rtr or the marlin crawler rtr for class 1? Marlin is 500 scx10 is 350ish.. do you feel the price is worth the diference

There's more than just a price difference. Leafs on the TF2 require a lot more fiddling to make it work in C1, but the extra points in SORRCA are worth it. SCX10II will require a lot more work to get all the points.

@@scalebuildersguild thanks for the reply and after watching all your videos on the marlin crawler and tf2 chassis decided it was worth it and picked one up over another scx102.. after basic mods and wheeling it today with a few scx102's I'm really happy with it. Thanks for all the work you put in and for sharing your videos and builds with all of us. Hope to meet you in person one day and shake your hand

Sorry for all the questions pal but your build is a big inspiration for my build. When you removed the internal springs from the shocks did you re-fill the shocks with oil ? If so what weight and how much oil

Nope, no oil. Just whatever was in there to lubricate.

Nice!! Build!! Is that the regular 1/10 Warn Winch or the 1/10 Mini Warn winch??
