T7 was too big for trails so I bought a WR250. Great on trails, adequate but not great on the highways. I took a 20 mile test ride on this and put the money down. Ordered one with the tubeless rims. I suspect it is the choice of the 3 for Prudoe Bay in June.

Thanks for the review. If you look at the 450 launch interviews, the reason for the shorter kickstand is because of a design change on other parts of the bike, mostly the suspension. They designed the entire bike at the same time, and so the kickstand ended up being shorter than they wanted it. RE is aware of the issue and is working on a longer kickstand, but it evidently is not that easy to do because a longer kickstand may interfere with other parts of the bike.

I am really glad that you have done so much hard riding with no issues cropping up. I am thinking about getting one, and videos like this give me more confidence in my decision. RE is aware of the kickstand issue, and from what I have heard, are already working on a solution to be implemented on later bikes. I have checked it out at the local dealer, and though it leans a lot, it is very stable, and not likely to fall over when on the side stand. I have heard a bike with a cat delete pipe, both with the stock muffler, and an aftermarket can, like an S&S or similar. The can was way to raucus for my taste, and with the stock muffler fitted, it was still too loud for me. On a Guerrilla 450, the cat delete would sound appropriate, but for an ADV bike, I prefer quiet. I understand that you like the idea of sticking with Royal Enfield accessories, but have you looked at the Doubletake 2.0 mirrors? I will have to look at some reviews, just to make sure that they don't flap around like a pair of wings, but Pending favorable reviews, I am leaning towards them.
@forgottenmotorcycles
@forgottenmotorcycles Ай бұрын
Good friend of mine has the DoubleTech mirrors, the new ones. And absolutely loves them. I may go that route. Maybe. The kickstand issue has become a non-issue for me. Now that I have had the bike a while almost 12,000 mi, it just is not an issue at all anymore. Am leaning towards a cat delete with the stock muffler. Haven't decided yet. Great bike 🙂

28:35 The side stand is lil bit small because it handles high slope of the mountain roads better and balances the bike on side stand better, that's why RE made it small. It will be less balanced if the side stand is big and may tilt the bike if used against the angle of the sloped road of mountains just like the Himalayas but to test that theory you need to visit India first 😁. I hope it cleared your doubt. Wahoo! Ride safe🙏

They actually admitted they messed up the side stand position as originally the suspension was softer so it sat lower, than after they designed the side stand last minute they stiffened up the suspension so it's now taller/further away from the ground.

As a Honda 300 rally and Transalp 750 owner who has had zero issues with either bike , just wondering how reliable this bike is and parts supply turn around …from Australia , the hype gives you impression they are in short supply , but plenty available here after initial rush . The deal breaker for me is the weight , as an older shorter rider being able to pick up bike after a possible injury during the fall is essential , the 153kg max fully fuelled Honda gives you that assurance , not sure about picking up this bike ? You seem a taller fit guy so probably not an issue for you .😊
@forgottenmotorcycles

Right off the bat...I love the Honda 300, it's a fabulous dual sport and a great ride. It's not too much fun on the long paved roads. Would love to ride a Transalp. The Himalayan is in between these two motorcycles. Lighter than the Alp but better on the pavement than the 300. I have rode my Himalayan hundreds of miles of fast roads to get to the mountain trails out west. The bike loves the dirt. I'm 68 inches tall and can pick my bike up. Where I live, near Baxter Cycle in Iowa, parts are easy to get. Reliability: I've owned 4 Royal Enfield's without any issues over 10's of thousands of miles. It's worth going to your local dealer and taking one for a test ride. Wahoo!

Fuzzy, the KTM TFT screens allow you to stay in “night mode” the black screen, through the settings. Give that a try. I hated the white screen and going through dappled sunlight in forest it was extremely obnoxious. It would flicker between the black and white screens. Once it was always on the black screen it was a 100% improvement. Have fun in Colorado again! I’m interested in Alaska next year. I have a neighbor with a 411 Himalayan and he and I have made plans for Alaska next year. So let’s team up! 👍 I’m on a T7. But a Himalayan isn’t out of the question.

Love the review ! curious on your thoughts on the low end torque , I have heard mixed reviews vs the 411. I have heard that the 411 pulls more dependably than the 452 that you are have to keep the revs much higher and it is harder to navigate more technical trails ...I have yet to ride it (452) but curious on your thoughts as you have rode both.
@forgottenmotorcycles
@forgottenmotorcycles 10 күн бұрын
Just had this chat with a good friend yesterday. The 411 is a true tractor...the new 452 does have more torque but more of a range, the rider may feel like it has less down low. However, when we've had our 452's out in the rough it always, always seems to have plenty of torque. It's a great bike. Wahoo!

I was told India has terrible gas. 87 or less. Idk. If it’s high compression I’d prob run high octane. A lot of times I will buy no ethanol just because. My 411 does better on the cheap stuff. I’m guessing timing and low compression. Or. I may be all wet. My thoughts anyway.
